The realization that every man bows to someone and there can only ever be one truly "unbreakable" man in the world, and that Batman is his prime competitor for the title. For all of the run's flaws I personally love Bane's motivation, there's something incredibly raw and animalistic about it, plus the prospect of someone ruining your life out of the blue and not stopping until you reach your breaking point solely to prove that you have one is a pretty disturbing notion.

Why is Bane's hold on the pirate so tight anyways? He's definetly his biggest weapon but he's also crazy as a goat and a huge wildcard if not contained.

Have they explained why Thomas Wayne sided with Bane & the villains? Flashback Bats was a violent badass who wouldn't want his son being Bats, but he wouldn't help the villains.

Nightwing's still caught up in the Ric Grayson noncense that's now had two writers overseeing it, and Batgirl's lost it's current creative team and took a month off, we don't know where they fit either, and of course 'Tec does it's own thing and pretends King never happened (and Gleason has been on public record saying he hates Bat/Cat)

The oddity here is that this is actually a big tie-in with the Justice League, so Batman being in a completely unrelated status quo stands out even more than when a solo book just ignores the team book or some on-going event.

He then went on to explain he proved she could take them all in I Am Gotham. All I kept thinking was, "She had her brother and the circumstances were different... It's also easy to miss, but SS, AotSS, and Prelude to the Wedding all have dropped that once the proposal happened, Bruce checked out as a parent.
