What the hell happened to Cartoon Network?
What the hell happened to Cartoon Network?
Other urls found in this thread:
It became a full on kids channel.
unikitty is the complete opposite of most of these shows.
haven't seen SCI but i've heard the same things
They are just preparing Cartoon Network for its new rebranding coming soon
What's bottom left?
Summer Camp Island.
One of the safest, milquetoast shows currently airing on CN.
But it seems like the Fungies is gonna take that title once it airs.
Sad indeed, what went wrong?
As it should’ve been before all the 2deep4ufeelz bait shit cropped up this past decade. They just need a better direction and they’ll be pumping out more Cartoon Cartoon tier shit in no time
I imagine your parents ask the same question about you
Summer Camp Island
Watch it, it's good
Promote Homosexuality
But a chunk of the Adventure Time crew is behind SCI.
I liked the designs but after seeing it in motion I don't care for it.
I would not have watched this shit as a kid and I don't know a single person who would have, this looks like a channel for toddlers.
Which one was better, Cartoon Network in 2005-2009 or Cartoon Network in 2015-2019?
Both of these periods were universally hated by fans
Well, that brings back some memories.
Why has the humor and style of CN shows shifted so drastically in the past decade? Before it cartoons had fast paced witty humor with thick outlines. Adventure Time started the trend, but ever since 2013 or so we've gotten so many boring thin outlined shows with dull internet humor. Is it mandated that most CN shows have to look the same??
>Left row: dull webcomicy stuff that's so boring that even the shows' own writers get bored
>Middle row: crazy lolrandumb stuff akin to jingling keys in your infant's face
>Right row: garbage based on a preexisting franchise
You might not know, people watch terrible shows before and still appreciate it.
My personal theory that kids have such an oversaturation of fastpaced, outrageous and vulgar media immediately available through the internet that they may prefer the toned-down content of these cartoons.
Why even make a show based on a side character from the Lego Movie? Isn't the franchise dead? The sequel flopped.
more like a toddlers channel
At least 2005-2009 had Chowder and Flapjack.
What the fuck has 2015-2019 had?
The closest to a decent show for kids is Unikitty.
and my theory is that yours is bullshit, my own theory is that most of the ratings come from shitty parents turning on the TV and letting their babies watch the pretty colors on the screen
I don't fully know, but I have a pretty good feeling that kid me would have just been bored with those shows.
I disagree. I work a lot with kids ages 6 to 12, they seem to like that kind of content. Granted its mostly the kids on the younger side of that spectrum, but still well past being toddlers.
Flapjack is the reason CalArts shit existed, Pen Ward worked on it and later went on to make Adventure Time for the Network.
Granted, Nickelodeon is also to blame, as AT was pitched to them first, but they rejected it twice.
It is scary how this is like a more modern problem of the old Hanna-Barbara designs
S O Y
O
Y
>total drama island but kids
Why? The whole point of the show was teenage angst and blurred out tits.
It's not though. You can see the trend of contemporary simplicity, but the house style isn't as cohesive. Not that that's a good or bad thing, just that H-B had a more distinct house style.
The thing I like about Unikitty and TTG is that they don't really give a shit about being comfy or sparing anyone's feelings.
And they have an art style that isn't repulsive.
I MEMBER
>TTG
>Art style that isn't repulsive
Are you this desperate to justify your hate for all the other cartoons that you resort to lying to yourself?
lel
Fungies looks like something I would have drawn when I was a toddler, including awkward poses.
>Those two Steven Universe slots
An island in a storm...
I don't have much to say about its style, but I love the backgrounds
2005-2009 had Foster's and post-golden age EEnE.
happy to know I'm not alone in picking up on this. shit looks like the lineup from a toddler channel
might as well throw barney somewhere on there. what's that? it's boring?? just add some memes for good measure, because memes are the epitome of humor. should anything else fail just start making mockery of everything left and right like TTG and gumball.
>desperate to justify your hate
user it legitimately looks good. Animation is typical flash, but the art style is good.
are we watching the same show? the artstyle is absolutely nothing to write home about. it's passable.
Craig of the Creek is really good at everything besides animation.
Don't you even dare bring Gumball into this
>'i need ritalin' the show
Gumball was the best show they still had.
I could appreciate the fast pace but it also meant only 3 out of like, 10 jokes would land. and none of them were particularly funny either.
it's also good at being fucking boring.
2005-2009 obviously
Anyone has watched the old 90's and 80's cartoons recently?. That was a problem since the 80's, the biggest reason TMNT and old Thundecats were so good was because of it's pacing.
thats cuz you cant beat kids no more
Times and tastes have changed. You can bitch all you want until the heat death of the universe, but all things are in flux
There are other forms of discipline that don't involve physically assaulting your children. Beating your kids doesn't teach them why things are wrong, it just teaches them to be afraid of you.
Isn't there supposed to be a Megaman cartoon
it builds character, it teches kids reality that the world hs no obligation to be kind to them, and teaches them to stand up for themselves, the weak ones break and become society problem
It's been exceedingly sluggish in responding to the pivot towards streaming, and Disney has gone from being a juggernaut with passing interests in television that allowed for a level playing field to an unstoppable entertainment monster.
SCI is unironically good but the rest? Ooof
>it builds character
That's one way of putting it
>it teches kids reality that the world hs no obligation to be kind to them
There are other ways to teach them that
>teaches them to stand up for themselves
Against what, the bigger stronger adult who holds power and authority over their lives, and would probably beat them more if they dared talk back?
It was always a kids channel
>Oblongs
I still wish this show and Mission Hill didn't get fucked so hard.
>Against what, the bigger stronger adult who holds power and authority over their lives, and would probably beat them more if they dared talk back?
Unironically yes.
It teaches them that sometimes you need a lot of force to take down an apparatus that's bigger and stronger than you.
More women should have been beaten as children, maybe then they'd understand why gun rights are important.
CN is run by an evil lesbian
is this pan?
there is no better teacher then experience, you can tell the world can be dangerous and they can get hurt at any point but if they dont feel it they will never really understand, like a switch flipping on your head, like feeling the ground under your feet after a real fight, or like death, you only truly undertand it when you lose someone,
Nothing.
You just grew up.
looks like preschool to elementary stuff to me. no kid past age 10 - 12 is watching thess
I literally lie in bed and imagine scenarios in my head for entertainment and to jerk off and modern cartoons still largely bore me to fucking tears.
... those are all cartoons, so it looks like they're their job.
The thing I hate the most is that Creepy Susie is 100% more popular than the show itself. Hell, most people don’t even know that’s she’s from The Oblongs. This is the reason it’ll never get a second chance. Fuck waifufags
You both seem to have fallen for an idealized fantasy, strange as it is to say. You think that a kid who gets beaten by their parents, who's probably been beaten for as long as they can remember, would just inevitably stand up to them at some point. You've completely ignored the far more likely possibility that, instead, they would be too afraid of getting hit to even think of standing up for themselves. Because in the real world, that's what typically happens to someone who's accustomed to physical abuse. They don't learn to stand up for themselves, they learn to cower and beg for mercy.
I mean, Creepy Susie -was- in her own series of books before she was a character in The Oblongs.
So it kinda came back full circle.
If only people knew about those books though.
All forms of fiction are dead. Except anime. How? Why? Describing outer forms and causes cannot provide a satisfactory answer. Music? Chimpanzee noises. Movies? Franchises which were overmilked and pozzed. Cartoons? Dead. Literature? That died first.
Something has gone terribly wrong in the underlying strata of human consciousness, and imagination as such. Imagination and creativity seem to be totally absent. It seems that a gigantic portion of humanity has been cut off from themselves and that impossible-to-define source, origin and sustainer of human consciousness and subconsciousness. Was this done by someone? It would require godlike power. Or is it a natural occurence, a sign that the species has run its course and is heading towards extinction or a return to apedom?
We will live to see the answer. I repeat - all fiction is dead. Laugh as much as you want at me. It makes no difference. I'm merely making an observation and know not the cause. Yet. In any case I doubt you yourself haven't noticed it.
Literature died first? Do tell.
Usually the onions meme is annoying but "onions toons" is just a fitting description of everything in that image
>Because in the real world, that's what typically happens to someone who's accustomed to physical abuse.
Sounds like a white thing.
My mom used to beat me all the time as a kid, then when I got bigger than her I stood up one good time and told her to fuck off or I'd beat the shit out of her.
Never happened again.
Basically, might makes right, unfortunately that's how the world functions.
How would this apply to the physically weaker? Get a gun.
I mean flavorless kid shows.
You know, non-egaging episodic shows with bad jokes and average characters
You think you understand how the world functions? You, who views the world through a lens that only shows its ugliness? You, who cannot comprehend any perspective or any experience other than your own? You're every bit as naive as the SJWs.
Cynicism can poison the mind just as well as idealism. While the idealist rejects the harshness of reality, the cynic sees only the harshness and nothing else. And you, sir, are a cynical bastard. You look at the darkest aspects of reality, and instead of wanting to make the world a better place, you just wish everyone was as miserable as you are.
Yeah, but I’m not sure if the show was already canceled or not
Oh shit, a white guy psychoanalyzing someone on the internet?
Never seen that before.
shut up SJWs.
Pay attention. You might learn something.
They forgot that Mean Spritedness was the foundation of the network (Dexter, the Eds and to an extent PPG)
Gumball and TTG are mean spirited
And that's why one of them is the network's biggest hit
>you just grew up
Can anons just stop using this argument to deflect criticism of nostalgic and new cartoons?
If I didn't know any better I'd say that Yea Forums's trying to discourage Yea Forums from watching cartoons and reading comics.
The actual answer is that politicans are getting angry that we aren't constantly giving them attention 24/7 and therefore want us to stop imagining things and be "down to earth" a.k.a "lets always bitch about our country and constantly and mindlessly serve it instead of minding your own business."
But that's just a stupid theory. A /pol/-tier theory, if you will.
How does a show like the Fungies even get greenlit? it's all the worst criticisms of the modern "CalArts" style with none of the redeeming qualities.
They put so much effort in back then. You can even hear the voice actors all fucking around in the background.
The only one without a fully saturated color palette is Summer Camp Island. Huh go figure.
>Summer Camp Island.
>One of the safest, milquetoast shows currently airing on CN.
A kid canonically died on the show, and a sentient egg got torn apart by being birthed while still alive.
>i don't know the difference between rows and columns
>But that's just a stupid theory. A /pol/-tier theory, if you will.
If you want a /pol/ tier theory try this one for size:
The reason these cartoons are all trash with shitty noodle-arm/bean-mouth art styles is the same reason the rest of mainstream entertainment is derivative trash marketed to the lowest common denominator. People are getting dumber and less talented as a result of the tolerance promotion of disgenic practices. The lack of talent or higher ambition in many of these artists is reflection of a society going down the tubes.
i have a signed copy with bob and milo drawn on the inside cover, angus is a chill guy.
You grew up
they want to become a preschool channel
>oh no, they went from a kid's channel to...a kid's channel !!!
>>/pol/
I think kids don't watch TV anymore so it's now a medium to let literal toddler waste their time until they can get a phone in their hands
it doesn't help one of the show literally feature an onion boy
what do people get to defend shit entertainment anyway? You think the corpo cares?
Summer Camp Island
Don't watch it, it's bad
>Brought to you by the faggot who likes Victor & Valentino because of an ugly goth character
It's terrible my dude, even Clarence is better
That's why I said he's a faggot for liking Victor & Valentino.
Is this edited or legit?
It's a marathon. It would be like someone bitching when the Simpson marathon started
Oh shit, did that lost and found show get picked up?
yea, think about Europe as a country
(((Guess what)))
>What went wrong?
>MFW I thought cartoons were shit even back in the day.
> Facebook Frog
Kill yourself
Take me back :(
I actually miss zoids and hamtaro
I think Oblongs was set up to fail
you had Will Ferrell voicing the dad
depends on which chunk I suppose
>Airing 13 Ghosts
I feel like the bottom middle one isn't real and you put it there as a joke.
>Real
Jesus
Yesterday I found out this shit was an actual show.
Of course. Has nothing to do with the fact that it's almost all they run.
You'll get way more views on your Youtube channel if you upload a shitty video every 30 minutes rather than twice a day, for example.
it's like a zoomer version of lisa frank
The Fungies?
Have you seen the pilot?
If not, would you like to experience your innards turning to marshmallow as the sugary sweetness permeates your being and turns your mind into candly-flavored fungal mush?
OP's image implies nine shows, but I only see three.
These "artstyles" blend together too fucking much. They don't stand out. It sickens me.
You grew up
