I think after issue one hundred of TMNT we'll see them collapse. Sales have slowed down for a while now for IDW TMNT after Splinter killed Shredder. Bunch of aimless stories that were mixed of rushed and boring for nearly 50 issues can do that. I don't see TMNT IDW lasting much longer which is their only good selling comic series outside of Sonic. And Sonic cannot carry a whole company alone. So yeah I think 100 issues and a little after that they'll collapse.

IDW TMNT's low sales also killed TMNT Universe so it really shows that this run is not as impressive as how it started during the first 50 issues. And combine all this with bad professional decisions fueled by political correctness? They're going to fail and they will not be missed.

People already don't like buying comics in general, but combine that with pissing off the small audience for comics with controversial decisions? They're going to die and I'd argue within the next five years.

The only issue is that in, I think, volume 4, that a few chapters of City at War is missing some of the heavy shading the turtles are known for. IDW says that was what Mirage sent them.

I ironically think Venus design is better.

It gave us pretty well-refined versions of the boys drawing from multiple sources (Raph's anger was less ridiculous than it'd been in the 2003 series, Don felt like a much more believable tech geek, Mikey had comic traits like his love of bad movies and comics, and April... got off the rails after a while, but I'd still argue she was an improvement over the retard-mom that walked into danger in the original cartoon, or the one trick pony that stepped on Donny's scientist toes in the 2003 series). Splinter was a delight, flat-out telling the boys that if their cause was just then it didn't matter if they fought fair, and that they should never harm anyone... unless they REALLY mean to do harm in which case they should do LOTS of harm. Making Splinter Hamato Yoshi again was brilliant, as was making it so that he actually had a history with Oroku Saki (even thinking of ol' Shredder as a brother once upon a time). Neat twist with Karai, well-reasoned direction with how the Kraang/Utroms were integrated, something of a long-term plot in mind... And damn it, if they'd been GOING somewhere with it, the Donnie-April relationship could've been interesting.

Not like TMNT doesn't have a lot of female mutants from the franchise's history to choose from. Just use one of them in the same role. The final season was fine, Demon Mark Hamill was good, and the episode about splinter taking car of the turtles was fucking great, they really benefited from telling standalone stories.

I enjoyed all the story arcs in the Tales of the TMNT season, but my grievance is that they went into it knowing it would be the final season and didn't bother resolving any of the lingering plot threads or character arcs (and no "nuclear Armageddon lol" doesn't count). So ultimately none of the narrative promises they'd been teasing for 5 seasons amounted to anything and the series wound up unsatisfying at the end.

I can't even remember any lingering plot threads outside of Mutagen Man being left in a tube forever, it's been too long though they probably had the same problem that IDW is soon going to have, too much set up and little pay off..

Jennika's biggest problem is that she's been around since issue #52 and she's never been interesting. Even when they gave her that back up serial in Universe, she was still boring. Making her Casey's girl didn't make her interesting, either.

IDW really, really, really wants the Jennika character to catch on, so turning her into a Ninja Turtle is just a new attempt to try and make audiences like her. Maybe if they'd started by giving her a personality and an interesting plot line, they wouldn't have had to reduce themselves to this kind of lame stunt.
