If you weren't here for when this issue came out you missed out on some glorious, glorious shipping tears claiming Cates ruined a "queer coded relationship" and all sorts of shit.
That's the problem with the whole altered memories thing, it's so vague that Cates uses it as a catch all but if the Symbiote wasn't a part of him at the time then how did he get to the point of thinking he had cancer in the first place? Unless >implanted codexes Or some shit
Because a Venom book is where you go for cheerful depictions of healthy relationships. Shippers claim to be interested in complex characters and challenging dynamics, but then they just want to reduce everything into coffee shop monsterfucker wish fulfillment.
I wonder how many of them had just seen the movie and just hopped on board with it being a "positive relationship". I don't wanna pull a "not a real" fan shit but if most of your knowledge of Venom comes from that movie, yikes

That's a pretty metal Venom. But what's the extent of its power because if its just straight up a fully controllable symbiote seems like thats a pretty good deal

That's The Maker, he's the Ultimate Universe version of Reed Richards that's crazy/villainous that came over to 616 after the Ultimate Universe got blown up.
He seems to be trying to find out more about Symbiotes since they didn't exist traditionally on his earth. He first showed up back in issue #7
Literally just some chick. Not related him to all. The symbiote just made him think it was his sister. Because the symbiote had to fool the tests, and in doing so, ended up actually giving him cancer because it was physically changing his body.
And that's us all caught up on mainline issues! Next issue doesn't come out till after Absolute Carnage on August 7th but before then there is 1 more Web of Venom book to come out starring Andi AKA Mania from Cullen Bunns Agent Venom run who last we saw had lost her symbiote but still had hell related powers
I'm loving this new Carnage design. After all this Knull stuff is over if they drop the spiral and wyvern I'd be happy for this to be the new Carnage design
And arguably the most important >Immortal Hulk Which is notably written by Al Ewing instead of Clay McCleod Chapman and we have an Absolute Carnage: Immortal Hulk one shot also coming
He probably got symbiote-d at some point. Maybe by Bendis? or during something like Venom-verse?
I think there's 2 or 3 more teasers to come in Captain Marvel and Avengers
