Here are the Emmy 2019 animation related nominees:
Outstanding Animated Program: >The Planned Parenthood Show (Big Mouth) >Just One Of The Boyz 4 Now For Now (Bob's Burgers) >Free Churro (Bojack Horseman) >Come Along With Me (Adventure Time) >Mad About the Toy (The Simpsons)
Outstanding Short Form Animated Program >The Witness (Love, Death & Robots) >Why Is It Wet? (Robot Chicken) >Plankton Paranoia (Spongebob Squarepants) >Reunited (Steven Universe) >Nostalgia Is Not A Substitute For An Actual Story (Teen Titans GO!)
You know, I kinda knew Bojack and AT finale will be in this "final five" for this year's Emmy awards.
Wyatt Reed
>Robot Chicken Pack it up, folks. The fuckers who get to vote are going to disappoint everyone once again.
Elijah White
Oh cool. I don't care for any of these picks.
Dylan Watson
robot chicken is still running?
Anthony Cox
So which awards care less for animation, the Emmys or the Oscars?
Xavier Foster
I'm surprised that the Amazon sequence in South Park didn't get nominated. It was really cool.
Though since South Park didn't get a single one nomination after 7 years of getting them, maybe we finally have more variation.
Robert Martinez
The only other short deserving of a mom would be Zima Blue, maybe Aquila Rift.
What do you have against the witness?
Jayden Collins
>Simpsons episode nominated in 2019 >Spongebob episode nominated in 2019 >Teen Titans GO! gets a nomination over OK KO >Outstanding Animated Program dominated by mostly long running adult comedies >Big Mouth getting a nomination over every other Netflix show including Carmen Sandiego, Hilda, and She Ra >No Adult Swim representation You can tell that the people who decide these are not animation fans. The Emmy's almost never reflect the best shows in animation.
Oh wait Robot Chicken is there so there is Adult Swim rep. Did it really deserve to get nominated over every other show though?
Adrian Cruz
I surprise you, South Park was in a ballot list along with other cartoons, I have downloaded the pdf of this list before the today's verdict.
Jackson Sanders
Reunited is probably the best episode they've entered for SU, but even that won't be enough if they just decide to vote for Robot Chicken like last year.
>Outstanding Animated Program dominated by mostly long running adult comedies Which is the opposite of the Oscars, in which the nominees for Best Animated Film are mostly family movies
Michael Myers
I think it's all a symptom of America's bad view of animation. Studios consider it too much of a risk to make high budget animated films so all you have is indie stuff going up against corporate giants like Disney. Then when it comes to TV animation The Simpsons opened the door to adult animation, but also made it so adult animation became stereotyped into being comedies. That means most animated shows that try to push for more serious storytelling tend to be kids series that are looked down on by judges in favor of schlock like zombie Simpsons.
