Nothing about her was meant to be attractive. She was the 5/10 nagging wife. Just look at the women who meant to be babes in-universe, they look nothing like marge. Then they suddenly started pushing her as a sex symbol: drawing her nicer, making her nag much less, or rather it wasn't even nagging anymore, it was the voice of reason.
