Comicwise what the Eternals do? Their power levels were pulled down a bit. They don't really have villains beyond keeping the Deviants in check. The last few runs have made everyone besides Sersi and Ikarus pretty dickish. From looking down on humans like children, Zuras snapping that "kids" neck, Killing Gilgamesh when he was clearly mind controlled, and trying to kill all the non humans to protect humanity from celestials. They make it policy not to interact with people much and mind wipe people who meet them. cherry on top they are dead and the machine that revives them is broken. What can be done with them? Should they branch out or stick to or run stories in their corner?
Comicwise what the Eternals do? Their power levels were pulled down a bit...
I don't care if it gets me called Aaron, this is the absolute truth: NOBODY gives a fuck about the Eternals, and NOBODY ever will. They're better off staying forever in comics Limbo.
Aaron
>Comicwise what the Eternals do?
Get shit on by writers.
Aaron?
Aaron killed off the Eternals in his Avengers run
People bothered to read that?
*movie makes 700 million*
Do you retards ever learn
yes some people did bother to read that. I myself only read it for the fight with the DARK Celestials, anything else outside of that battle was pretty forgettable.
Meant for
>Guardians
>Ant-Man
>Doctor Strange
>Black Panther
>Captain Marvel
>NOBODY gives a fuck about the Eternals, and NOBODY ever will
They are about to get a big budget MCU movie that will do well, and soon there will be Eternals lunchboxes, action figures, Halloween costumes, etc. everywhere.
Dropping Karkas and Ransak was a mistake
i do
i got it all on paper
So no ideas about using the Eternals in the comics?
user, they’re fucking dead.
The latest Avengers run literally had them take a good look at the true purpose the Celestials gave them, reflect on all their life choices, and then fucking murder each other into despair until Ikaris was the last one left to give Tony Stark the secret that not only can humans form the Uni-Mind, their super move, all along, but it’s so universal it works with kree hybrids, Asgardian-Elder God (yep, look up Thor’s mom) hybrids and people possessed by spirits of vengeance with no trouble. The Avengers just captain planet their powers into the new Ghost Rider while Tony yells science things and Panther fiddles with dials and that’s all it takes to btfo the DARK Celestials who killed all the remaining Celestials in existence at the time.
Let that sink in. Their unique power was given over to humans, AND their creator deities were simultaneously ordained to job.
There’s nothing left for them. I don’t have words to describe this emasculation of a Kirby creation, it makes Darkseid falling down the stairs look downright dignified. It makes Galactus being held hostage by his own Nullifier look reasonable and inspiring. I sincerely, and with good will pray Marvel gives up on the synergy meme when MCU Eternals comes out, and they are just quietly forgotten and allowed to rest in peace.
The Eternals are dead. Bury them. Consider it mercy.
Ehhh. Let's be honest. They're only dead so that Marvel can do a MCU synergy reintroduction.
You can fuck right off, I do care about them and I've been waiting for a good while for them to come back to the spotlight. Keep crying over your poorly sold event, AARON.
I did specifically note that, user. And I maintain my stance that if Marvel follows through on the synergy they’d do more harm than if they simply let the Eternals decompose at their current level of ignominy instead of giving them a new one.
Also, I’m genuinely sorry for your loss. I’m a New Gods fan myself so I know what it’s like to fanboy for a character line that gets infinitely shat on so hard that current Highfather is literally a shittier, more hypocritical version of Darkseid and some bright spark had the great idea of writing NuSeid’s backstory in a way that completely misses the point of what little nuance there was to pre-Crisis Uxas’ character.
>The adventures of Kaine and Aracely will never be finished
I just picked up that complete run and it was a lot of fun, it’s a shame miller ruined the new warriors brand
>Kirby Creation gets to take a Huge L because marvel doesn't like or need them any more.
I understand how you feel user. Death of the Inhumans had Black Bolt get his ass kick so hard by a brainwashed maximus the mad while saying "You only ever rely on your voice, you've never used anything else lmao". to top it all off then Beta Ray Bill shows up to save Bolt and beat Vox like it was nothing. I will agree with you though the Eternals got it much worse.
Their powerlevels are insane and even then shift radically from writer to writer.
Sometimes they are basically heralds
other times they are mid tier but can still hang out in space. Kind of that same nebulous area as Warlock. He is essentially an artificial Eternal in how his powers work anyway. And he has the same problem of taking down Surfer one week and losing fights to street level heroes another.
Yea I never got why modern writers dropped his superpowered alchemy and flying brick powers.
Wait so is Hyperion dead now? He is an Eternal even though he is from another Dimension.
Honestly a not insignificant portion was just an excuse to look at cool Kirby art. At least half his run is Eternals explaining their stuff to humans. The other half is demons invade New York.
I wonder if Marvel can actually bring the awe to the Celestials and I'm dying to see how they do them in the shared MCU. I want Marvel to go all out and say In 50 Years: Judgement Day
I think only the Earth Eternals died
Hyperion was never really affiliated with their group, although we haven't seen the Hickman version in years and he's apparently been replaced with yet another new iteration of the Squadron Supreme
last time I saw Hyperion was in Secret Empire helping to stop Evil Cap. He wasn't in the book where Aaron killed all the other Eternals so I think he is alive.
I feel this is more a Donny Cates thing then anything else because even Black Bolt's solo book and the other books during the Inhuman push remembered he had more then just his voice.
Black Bolt's flying brick powers isn't really that remarkable. He is weaker than the Thing in terms of raw strength.
During his first appearance they were about equal yeah. I think BB had to use his Master Blow to win. But over the years until right around the time Medusa Cucked him with the Human Torch he was portrayed as a fairly strong flying brick. He was able to go toe to toe with the Gladiator and the Hulk. While not stronger he was in their league.
Also Thing's strength is nothing to shrug at.
>I will agree with you though the Eternals got it much worse.
This, I didn't even notice until user pointed it out. You could argue it isn't even new. The Celestials pretty much got stolen from them used in all over the place while leaving them in the dust. They even made mutants the most important thing the Celestials made and made it that exitar would wipe out the planet if they arm't on it.
It doesn’t help how much worse morally the Celestials were retconned to be. Put aside it’s status as the villain of Ultimates 2, and from a certain point of view you could honestly say the First Firmament is the victim: The Celestials were the aggressors, and there’s no indication the First was unduly cruel apart from wanting an empty universe or even that it asked for worship on the first place, just that it’s personal creations doing so pleased it. Without a POV, the Celestials seem to have no moral high ground to divide and violate it; imagine if your children carved some of your flesh out and made a creepy mini-me with it, then fought the kids who stayed loyal to you. You’d be creeped out too. Hell even fucking KNULL, an indisputable asshole, is technically correct that the Celestials trespassed on HIS home where he just wanted to drift forever like a cosmic volcel.
Now take that together with the revelation the Celestials treat humans as a like a smallpox vaccine at best, and an infection spawned from one of their own dead’s rotting corpse at worst, and yet humans are STILL considered vitally significant in the sense they function as a defense against their cosmic rivals. The Eternal didn’t just find out their mission was a lie, they realised their entire history was being basically pampered lapdogs whose masters didn’t give a shot about their ideals or hopes. No wonder they killed themselves. They finally realised Marvel is a cosmic horror story, and unlike humanity or muggas couldn’t cope with it.
What the fuck, even with the upcoming movie?
One of the oddest things is that they haven't tried to do anything with the Eternals in the comics outside of killing them off even though the movie is in production. Ant-man, gotg, Captain Marvel, Inhumans they all got books the second their movies were announced years before the movies actually came.
Based on their track record I feel it’s legitimately because Marvel had no idea what to do with them. New Gods kind of get the treatment in DC, the only difference is because Darkseid has major cred as Superman’s archnemesis DC /tried/ to keep doing New God stuff to varying degrees. Which...got us New Genesis bullying Lanterns for the Life Equation, the forgettable Forever People run and Grail (if you know you get it. If you don’t, don’t ask), but at least they were still involved during the Prime era.
But it’s VERY telling that during the current crisis, that DC conveniently had literally every single New God(‘s avatar, nice save there Morrison) wiped out merely by Perpetua the new cosmic being villain waking up.
EXCEPT DARKSEID who is doing his own plan to regain cosmic power and preserve life (?!). This is how little of a shit DC gives about the New Gods as a whole, they are completely upfront about how much plot armor Darkseid gets and how worthless Highfather is.
...
...and Grail, who is still a prisoner of the Amazons.
The ending to that No Surrender sequel from earlier this year strongly suggests that the Eternals are going to come back in the field soon, but repackaged.
Wasn't that just the New Greek Gods? Though I guess they may tie together if the Herc rumors are true
They have always been tricky since Kirby never meant for them to be a part of 616.
...Huh. Is the Eternals movie just going to have the Eternals BE the Greek gods? That was always part of the idea behind Kirby's use of them.
Is Marvel going to combine the Eternals with the New Greek Gods and do, like, "Hercules and the Eternals"?
Herc is suppose to be in the movie
>Their powerlevels are insane
It has calmed down some in recent years from the bullshit it was like pic related.
In scale of 10/10 with 10/10 being Superman copies and 0 regular humans, i can say some os them are 7/10. Ikaris, Makkari, Sersi and Gilgamesh these guys are the most powerfull.
>When humans tell incorrect stories about you and those stories come to life and are just as strong or stronger than you, the real deal
That concept always seemed fascinating to me. Convoluted but fascinating.
They have been toned down. Teleportation takes a lot of energy for them so they can't do it in succession and it is only planetary, they aren't going off world with it or to other dimensions. Only Ikarus, Gilgamesh and zuras have high end super strength. Everyone else spidey tier or lower. Regeneration is a lot slower. Judging by how thena took out Gilgamesh and Aaron's shit they don't need total obliteration to be killed anymore. Even back in they day Sersi was the only one that could matter manipulate living beings everyone else could only do objects. They aren't really overwhelming any more.
Bump because I want to read and chime in later when I'm done with work.
Meanwhile, I really damn hope some of you read Knauf's Eternals (the one in OPs pic), because I keep hoping to chat about it with others.
It's been a while I can only really remember bits of it.
On that note, sprite did nothing wrong.
>get treated like a child by your entire race because of how you look despite being all roughly the same age because none of you have aged since the Celestials made you
>pretty much only a child in looks but have be a virgin and live like a kid forever
>there aren't even other "child" Eternals around
>Finally get mortality and Zuras snaps your neck the next night
He's a decent class 50 mid-range brick. But he has lots of other ways to harm someone other than punching them. Matter/electron manipulation and forcefields for a flying brick is pretty impressive. He also has a decent trick of focusing all power into a fist and punching someone which lets him go way above his weight class.
He can also fly and survive in space which helps a lot. Vulcan apparently could not do a whole lot to hurt him either.
Hyperion might be the top of what a non-augmented physically powerful Eternal can get to. Gilgamesh never seemed to reach that same level and he was supposed to be the best.
they are supposed to be something like a low level Herald. Or maybe closer to a science based Asgardian. But they have to consciously make their bodies stronger or heal it.
But "Can use cosmic energy" is such a nebulous thing that it really can mean anything the writer wants at the time.
