So in the first issue Cates wrote Venom fucking up the new Jack O'Lantern as kind of a "Brocks back, shits getting fucked up. Here's the villain Flash tried for so long to beat done in one"(Though it was pretty clearly a different Jack O'Lantern)

Carnage Born connects with the following Venom Unleashed oneshot written by Stegman and drawn by Kyle Hotz. It's set inbetween panels of the next issue, though you get a recap of the important information of said issue in the most recent issue of Venom. I'd recommend placing it in, just to seed Cletus early on.

Now I never read the Lovecraftian Carnage book that came out, though I heard it was good so my last Carnage update was Minimum Carnage with Flash and Kaine I think so shout out if there's any continuity issues etc. in here

My favorite part of that interview was that not only did Cates say he read Jenkin's inhumans but that it was his FAVORITE book of the Marvel Knights line. Yet somehow that didn't make it in 20th anniversary book he did.

I really love Stegmans Carnage design for AC, though maybe drop the Knull stuff, its only been featured on variant covers so far
Bro, you need to check out Conway’s Carnage, it was pretty fucking stellar, aside from Broxin that whole run was sweet, and it’s only like 16 issues long, highly recommend. I’d post up a page for you to see a small bit, but you’re in the middle of a Storytime, and posting a pic during a Storytime is just bad manners
It definitely didn't have the tone. It was mostly forming the team people remember stuff with a few nods here and there to other MK books by having the them show up as regular people with no memories. Big reveal is that memory machine that made everyone forget Sentry had been used to wipe everyone's memory of supes. It was pretty boring.
I really dig the idea of a more Lovecraftian take on Carnage to try and separate him from Venom a bit more and everyone, including yourself, seems to rave about it. After I'm done storytiming this I'll definitely get on reading it. Was the book set-up in any other books? I feel like it was set-up elsewhere
As a note, can you point out any major continuity flaws between that and this?
Really wish they'd just given Scorn some alternative speech bubbles to show some kind of Knull influence riding through her because us, this don't really line up unless I'm forgetting something from later in the issue

We really need to put Cates on Venom lock down, though since GotG it seems like he isn't touching many other corners of the MU as he was but I think he was teasing something about the ultimate Universe awhile back, which kinda lines up with his use of Miles and The Maker
As far as I can remember there was no real lead into Conway’s Carnage, the big problem was Bunn trying to figure out a way to kill off Cletus forever during Venomized, which was a fucking disaster.
Well going by this page it seems Cates didn't really know what Bunn was doing either.
What a shambles Venomized, Venom Inc. etc. all were. I'll be happy to never see another Poison again in my life

Second for Cates is a hack whose only knowledge of Thor's lore comes from Aaron's run and it's blatantly obvious, like that time he publicly called someone out for drawing Beta Ray Bill with Mjolnir even though that happened in Simonson's run.
I'd honestly like to see somebody picking up on Ewing's cliffhanger regarding the Ultimates from 1610 chasing after Makers, but I really doubt Cates is gonna do it. I kinda get the feeling they do have a rivalry going on, or that they're aware their styles are polar opposites.
I wonder if that's what got in Cates' way then? He did say some plans with The Maker had to change so maybe Ewing got his hands on it?
Blame Venom Inc on Costa and Slott, but personally I didn’t mind it even half as much as I did the whole Venomverse / Venomized comics, that shit was just awful

I really enjoyed Marvel Knights, as it was more built on the effect on the current industry rather than the previous plan to just rehash old creative teams. I much preferred the showcase of new Marvel talent who came up from reading said books.

I'm not aware of his plans aside from him using Maker currently. Has he acknowledged that Reed is a multiversal entity now? That he has a presence on every universe? I think I read up until this issue because I was curious, but I haven't kept up with this run beyond #5.

Does anyone remember when maker next shows up?
Basically the point is that there's a 616 Maker just like there was one in 1610, and so on in every universe. In Ultimates2 #100, they killed the Maker from an alternate universe, but there was another (the one that showed up in Ewing's New Avengers) who is supposed to be still around. I'm guessing that the one in this series is that one, because he was trapped underneath the planetary shield in Secret Empire.
