The Power Rangers have crossed over quite a bit with teams from other seasons, but only once before have they crossed over with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That happened during Power Rangers In Space, but the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers are set to team-up for the first time with the heroes in a half-shell thanks to BOOM! Studios' brand new miniseries, and we've got your exclusive first look! Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #1 (of 5) will be written by Necessary Evil writer Ryan Parrott and will be drawn by Beyond The Grid artist Simone di Meo, and will have the two teams attempting to survive a world where Shredder and the Green Ranger have combined forces.
"Honestly, I'm pretty certain keeping this project a secret has taken years off my life. These two iconic franchises were my TV parents, each teaching me valuable life lessons thirty minutes at a time. The Power Rangers and the Ninja Turtles are too insanely awesome not to bring together. I mean, they're both color-coded teenage martial artists who fight monsters! It just makes too much sense!" said writer Ryan Parrott. "A huge thank you to Hasbro and Nickelodeon for letting me play with so many of their wonderful toys, as it is truly an honor to be a part of such an exciting crossover. I'm the luckiest kid in the world, and I cannot wait for you all to see what we've been putting together."
“No one could possibly love the Power Rangers or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles more than the creative team at the helm of this epic event! Which means they’ve got every dream team up scenario you can think of jam-packed into the pages of every issue.” Pleban said “Monsters will grow. Shells will get kicked. And that thing you’re really hoping we’ll do? Yeah, that’s in here, too.”
>Shitty Saban-ified Turtles and Venus with the third-rate Turbo/Space generation of Rangers
Fuck. No.
Jordan Wilson
Why do people dislike that artist? I don't get it.
Nicholas Taylor
It's fucking New mutation again >5th female turtle >power rangers crossover >current shitty show that came after popular cartoon
Xavier Walker
>current shitty show that came after popular cartoon What does that have to do with the crossover?
David Powell
hes a turtles fan lamenting the dark times ahead
John Walker
>Ends with Donny and Billy making Tor's blueprints
Hudson Cook
Billy didn't make Tor. He was on another planet I thought.
Jaxson Hall
will this be canon or non canon because that was the only negative of the batman crossover it was non canon
Dylan Baker
It will probably be generic (ala, Batman/TMNT I was generic, but slipped into one place in the comics)
As of rightnow it can only be in Green with Evil, and Before TMNT #50
Zachary Hill
>green ranger front and center
FUCK O F F !
Luke Wilson
...Okay.
Ethan Perry
>both leaders front and center What's the problem?
Cameron Anderson
Space was one of the best seasons of Power Rangers. Stop sucking off MMPR cause "muh nostalgia".
Jace Myers
They're gonna shoe horn Drakkon into this
Jeremiah Peterson
So this is only happening because Batman/TMNT got a lot of attention, right?
Levi Reyes
Space was shit. It promised so much and delivered nothing.
Joseph Foster
So when will the TMNT meet the Justice League?
Elijah Ward
True, MMPR nostalgia fanwank is tiresome. But Lightspeed Rescue---> Space.
Julian Howard
It's not even about the nostalgia to me. It's about how they teased things like all the villains working together in the opening only to never be seen again until the finale, or that they played with the idea that Astronema wasn't as evil as she acted only to brainwash her and never speak of it again. Hell, they downplayed a lot of the actual space theme just to keep everything in Angel Grove where most of the Sentai stock footage was (and the Sentai for that season was about video games to begin with).
Alexander Carter
Is lighstpeed red the most based ranger of all time?
Dominic Hill
>or that they played with the idea that Astronema wasn't as evil as she acted only to brainwash her and never speak of it again What? Making Astronema good was like the main plot of the season
Isaiah Cooper
It only really got brought up for a few episodes near the halfway point of the season, she actually defects and joins the Rangers, and then she gets captured and re-brainwashed. Nothing is spoken again of her being good until the finale.
The main plot was rescuing Zordon, and even that was usually never mentioned half the time.
Gabriel Martinez
It's entirely likely, though there's room for debate. When there's another ranger that opens every fight by drawing his sidearm and magdumping while he calmly walks forward, let me know. And it's not really to his credit, but I absolutely love how Diabolico told him that to kill Queen Bansherra, he had to "drive his blade in the empty hole where her heart should be".
Noah Adams
Lightspeed Red was a true alpha and a good leader. I loved him.
Come on. I'm kind of tired of seeing him as the only villain representation.
I think The Rat King and the Pantheon would be cool. Imagine the Megazord fighting an enlarged Manmoth and Rat King and Green ranger fighting in a Flute battle for control over the dragonzord.
>the most based ranger thatd be wes who cucked his descendant so hard his fiancee turned into another ancestor
Brody Ward
>editor of tmnt says they do not understand the appeal of tmnt vs power rangers >this gets announced 3 years later wonder what changed
Tyler Ramirez
you got hope it gets a sequel then, they always have to use shredder first since the other company would want to use the TMNTs most iconic villain, with the sequel I could see the rat king teaming up with Rita or Krang with Zed
Christopher Allen
I can see what he means. The power rangers tend to face planetary threats, while Turtles are mainly city level at best. The rangers face off against Triceraton-type of villains everytime.
It's an unfair comparison like when they did Power Rangers/Justice League. the rangers were way out matched.
Sebastian Price
No I agree with that, but he said he does not see the appeal to it when the appeal is power rangers is what helped kill the turtles as the big thing for kids along with batman the animated series.
people wanted it because they were huge ips that were around at the same time that fit the same niche. I just want to know why he changed his mind and finally approved it
Tyler Phillips
>Four words >3 adjectives describing a noun >Multi colored teenagers fighting monsters/mutants >Leader has a sword >Smart guy has a bo-staff
Wow, Saban used sentai to just rip off Ninja turtles.
Ryan Scott
Yes, this is well known. Some people get pissy when it's brought up because Super Sentai, and this series in particular, existed long before the first TMNT issue was published, but it's pretty obvious the changes Saban made had a clear influence from popular toyetic trends at the time, including the Ninja Turtles.
Robert Wright
Why is the Green Ranger always the leader when Red is and was always the leader? Green did jackshit in the Japanese version
Julian Hernandez
>OP didn't mention the release window December, not October
Xavier Cook
Green Ranger Tommy was never the leader. He didn't get promoted until he became White.
Ayden Howard
Muh Tommy.
Camden Harris
Cool
Jeremiah Jackson
>Batman >Ghostbusters >now Power Rangers What are the TMNT going to crossover with next? Transformers? Thundercats? GI Joe?
Cooper Price
Eh, not really. Saban had been trying to bring sentai to America even before the turtles.
Jackson Kelly
so did they confirm the turtles will say its morphin time?
Joshua Roberts
Hopefully Transformers. Then my list of dream crossovers will be complete.
Elijah Rogers
The cmic editor of a fifth rate comic company doesn't get a say in this shit. Hasbro and Viacom did.
Jaxon Jones
Transformers. So we can have a Ninja Turtle Transformer.
Mason Gomez
Was he the guy that basically carried his gun everywhere and shot all his problems?
Dominic Clark
>Is lighstpeed red the most based ranger of all time? 100% yes from me. Though those who come after him where also pretty good too such as and Cole "Tarzan" Evans or as he is known today as The murder Ranger.
>What are the TMNT going to crossover with next? Un-ironically RWBY would be the most hype crossover. The announcement alone would trend all over social media
>And that thing you’re really hoping we’ll do? Yeah, that’s in here, too Is 80s April naked in here? wow
Noah Perez
Why is it that any artist that draws the TMNT can't help but make them look like DeviantArt fanart? Why can't people just draw the turtles to actually look like the turtles?
Cameron Wright
>actually look like the turtles? Because they aren't actual turtles? They are mutated turtles.
Zachary Powell
Sly Cooper from Sony? You know what? That could actually work if you have it be that Sly reaches the TMNT world. Would be a shock to his system to see a world where his kind are considered mutant freaks.
The other way around isn't very interesting with the turtles reaching a world of only animals (they already do that in Yojimbo crossovers so there is no surprise for the turtles to see a world of only animals).
You are kidding me, right? The crossover between the Space Rangers and the TMNT was fine at the moment because I was a kid, but it left me unsatisfied.
I expect, this time, they will do it right. Quenstion, however, is which version of the TMNT are these? I would expect the ones from the 2003's animated series. Because, in Turtles Forever, this gave us a giant Shredder, so this is a reason to use the Zords.
However, thinking about the Ninja's topic, I can't stop thinking maybe it would be better with the Rangers using the powers from Ninjor and the Ninjazords. Don't you think?
Leo Anderson
Maybe the Rangers will get mutated and turn into hybrids based on their zords
Ryder Diaz
Take it a little serious, OK?
I personally can imagine Shredder and the Foot Clan trying to siege Ninjor's temple.
Bentley Rodriguez
Waiting on IDW to fund a Sonic crossover. But I should know better:it will be ponies
Ethan Robinson
The show's over this year
Thomas Perez
Tommy is the protagonist of the Power Rangers franchise.
Ryan Diaz
And Raphael is kinda like Green Tommy as the lone rebel and Zack is kinda like Mikey as the most easygoing
Juan Gutierrez
...which one? IDW Sonic or "the show"
I mean, I'm fine with either one.
Brandon Long
Horse show China's giving the new final episodes early
Michael Adams
>no shitty Jennika Based
Dylan Gonzalez
What a tepid crossover? Isn't there any potential TMNT crossover that would "break the internet"
Andrew Williams
>literally says tv parents
Jayden Green
Is gonna be that one cartoon turtles and not IDW turtles, isn't it?
Xavier Butler
Mario Bros because Mario fights turtles. However such a cross over automatically is SHIT if done in a crap medium like comics. Let's get something straight, most people do not read comics and such a medium is just unappealing.
If you're going to do something like Mario and TMNT (bonus if you include the obvious parody from Mario for TMNT with the Koopa Troopas who have the same TMNT color bands), you need to do it with animation. The big problem is that for a number of years now animation projects even if you need to pay for them to view them like movies like Killing Joke, Batman Vs TMNT, or even the incoming Scooby Doo Return to Zombie Island. They all have blatantly shitty crap shit and I must repeat SHIT animation. They look like garbage (and it really hurts in the case of Killing Joke and Zombie Island Sequel for obvious reasons).
These movies look like complete visual shit and no doubt the companies who own these properties aren't interested in making something actually worth a fucking watch. Viacom are a bunch of greedy bastard Jews and Nintendo? While I'm not going to call them as cheap bastards the fact that Mario's first ever serious animated project is with Illumination an animation studio famous for blatantly delivering the bare minimum of theatrical tier animation and being very cheap and masters of cutting corners....yeah I'm not optimistic at all.
Shame really because despite both Viacom and Nintendo being cheap the concept of Bowser enlisting the TMNT to fight the Mario Bros is just too good to pass up. Bonus if the hire someone to do the choreography that did the Kung Fu Panda films which had excellent action pieces. Just the thought of Mario fighting like that (and he can outside of Smash have you seen his actual games? Mario is very acrobatic) and using his power ups would be quite the treat.
But in the end such a thing must stay as just a fantasy. It's too expensive to do in a way that REALLY breaks the internet and wows audiences.
Agreed. Does anyone actually give a flying shit about Power Rangers these days? I see it for what it always was, a knock off of Japanese Sentai. No value whatsoever. Also didn't the recent live action movie or TV series or whatever fail completely? Seems that worldwide audiences do not give a damn about this property. And I doubt they'll care in a medium that most people do not care for to begin with.
Everything about this crossover feels like a waste of time and money for both companies involved. I prefer watching the Next Mutation/ Power Rangers crossover because it beats reading a boring comic.
Luke Scott
Anyone else think that Batman/TMNT was NOT good? And I mean the comic. The whole concept's execution was just throwing shit at the wall hoping something sticks with loads of filler. I wasn't impressed which is why I never bothered to read the follow up sequel.
Brandon Kelly
Because NO ONE actually wants the TMNT to look like actual turtles with beaks. It's not what people expect turtles to look like in this specific franchise.
