Both are ultimately about Ben and Gwen becoming a couple, but don't really focus on romance.
It's mostly the two of them trying (and for the most part failing) to go back to being normal kids again after their first summer fighting aliens and subsequently becoming closer due to the simple fact that their experiences have isolated them from pretty muchg everyone else, including their parents.

Kinda reminiscent of the more fucked upo aspects of Animorphs.

What are they about (both yours and the Dragon one)?

Mine is a Samurai Jack AU where the entire series is reframed as modern day events, where Jack is an ex cop butting heads with Aku, a power hungry tycoon with a secret bid for world domination. The focus of the story is primarily on the development of Jack and Ashi’s relationship, and both of them serve as the protagonists. It was originally supposed to serve as SoL wish fulfillment because I really liked them together, but it’s become more of a sweeping saga retelling most of the major plot points of season 5.

The dragon one is set some years after the first film, and chronicles Astrid’s struggles for Hiccup’s affections after he returns from a long trip away, framed through her talking to Stormfly during the dragon’s hibernation. It’s been a long time since I read it, but I remember there was also an interesting side plot where Hiccup is challenged to a duel to the death after rejecting some foreign dignitaries marriage proposal, and him learning to fight with his own crafted weapon.
The sequel is even better, Hiccup gets kidnapped by Alvin and ends up as a dragon tamer for the Roman Empire, and the rest of the crew sets off to rescue him. I remember tearing up a little at one point, which has never happened with any other fanfic for me.

I personally appreciate that the author integrates stuff from the side material, like the fic has a scene where Dipper and Connie catch the gremloblin even though that moment was only shown in Journal 3. Unintentional foreshadowing is also on point (Bill hints about Blue Diamond before she was revealed in the actual show)

With This Ring - (DC - SI) - Starts a beat to beat retelling of Young Justice's story line, and then turns into just retelling of a bazillion other comics I haven't had the need to read. Writer is SI'd and has an Orange Power Ring, and tries to uplift the planet after a while.

The Metropolitan Man (DC - Superman) - 1930's, Superman's appearance, first and only super shown in the story. Mainly from the viewpoint of Lex Luthor as he figures out how he should proceed. It instantly jumped into my favorites when Lex Luthor sits down with pencil and paper (metaphorically) and figures out how much random distribution of lead is in any cross section of Earth at variable heights so he'd know if his operations were safe from Supes' eyesight.

Grimm Life (RWBY) - Writer SI'd into the body of a Grimm. The foreknowledge ripped from his mind by Salem fucks over canon, and he's stuck on the antagonists side. Ruby Rose is kidnapped as a child by Salem and raised by the SI.

I've been thinking of writing a fanfic of Frozen that is a darker version, with Olaf as a younger brother to Anna and Elsa. Elsa never hides her powers, and other nations (or maybe people from her country) try to assassinate her because in Disneyland evil witches are more common than good ones. Olaf gets shot or sliced, and (teen) Elsa keeps him running on ice magic. Would be mainly about Anna's mental stress from having a god as an older sister and a younger brother running off what-the-fuck ice magic.

I fucking adore Dakari King Mykan, he's like the anti-chris chan while still being a lolcow.

Chris is obsessed with finding love, and made a sonic/pikachu comic because he loves Pokemon and Sonic so much.

Mykan HATES friendship, and he was so mad that MLP touted that "Friendship is Magic" that he made a hate fanfic, that he claimed would rival MLP in popularity, that touted that "Magic is Believing", even though he never specifies what we're supposed to be believing in. It's full of lyrics set to barney songs and power rangers knockoffery, and replaces all of MLP's arbitrary rules with even dumber arbitrary rules that are supposed to be "better". Also it displays an absolute misunderstanding of what a multiverse is which is great. He treats universes like planets.

I was amazed no one had done a Weapon X style Rocket story with him killing his way out of the lab so I did one, which led to a bunch of other mostly Rocket centered stories. I like writing Sad Rocket. Though I am about the only person who hooked him with up Lylla since most fanfic writers want him to be hard gay.

Fanfic reading is a seasonal activity for me; it just happens at some certain point of the year because I accidentally developed some obsession with some kino or another and I've resorted to reading damn fanfics.
I have a place in my heart for that Peanuts fanfic where Charlie Brown attempts suicide. 'We're Here For You, Charlie Brown' I think it was called. Sounds lame or cringeworthy, but young teen me found it deep and introspective and like, woaahh... and that's something you can't take away from me.

I wish i could get into fanfiction, I really do. But I've never been able to, and attempting to read it makes me physically cringe.
My immersion is really, really deep, and very, very fragile. When I start reading something, I very quickly start hearing character's voices in my head, and I lose myself into the story - all the way until the slightest out-of-character thing happens. If I even come across a single word that never canonically appeared in the character's vocab, it may entirely ruin my experience. Sometimes the word fits well enough that I can accept it, but not often. Erotic fan fiction is impossible for me to read, unless it features a canon couple and the never speak.
It hurts badly. I have several friends who write fanfiction, and they are always so disappointed when I refuse to read their work, but I just couldn't get through it, it's not remotely up to my "standards"
