Muppet babies

Why is trope so common? Do children really enjoy seeing adult characters as babies?

>Muppets movie has a fantasy section that featured Muppet babies.
>Concept explodes and merch flies off the shelves.
>Wanting to cash in on the craze, a cartoon is created.
>It's a hit.
>Other studios, seeing this, make their own versions of the concept to mixed results.
It was just a late 80s early 90s craze, nothing more.

Looking back on it, it was mostly Hanna Barbera stuff doing the kid stuff. A Pup Named Scooby Doo, Yo Yogi, Flintstones Kids and Tom and Jerry Kids.

Though funny how Baby Looney Tunes came out 10 years after the craze had died. Oh Looney Tunes, you never have your finger on the pulse...

IIRC execs wanted BLT since the early 90s, but creators made Tiny Toons instead thinking the baby idea is silly.

But execs were stubborn people and here we are.

If I was their daycare owner, I'd kick those little shits constantly. Something about their faces makes me go into a fit of rage.

Not too shocking, considering the studio was dying by that point.

This looks like something that Nerd Corps would shit out.

The bird fucking pisses me off, I want to shove that little shit into a garbage disposal and watch his guts get splattered.

I was babysitting a kid and we were watching the new Muppet Babies and I wasn't even mad because Baby Kermit is so cute.
I would die for this boy.

I would rather have babies than sons versions

It hasn't been popular in decades and was arguably never all that popular to begin with.

Really though it's pretty simple:
- they're cute
- kids can relate to them
- they're established characters with well known personalities.

it was an attempt to make their other show more popular.

Didn't work.
