I just wanna supply her with more diverse and extreme forms of trash so that she has more to work with and decorate her environment with. Like I want to dump whole cars into the water and watch her take them apart for scrap to make into furniture and art pieces. God, I want to throw an entire trailer home down there so I'd have a place to cuddle and fuck her in between sessions of helping her organize and decorate the seafloor junkyard I've given her.

Do you WANT to catch a disease, user?

Not realistic enough. She should have the plastic rings around her neck. Being serious though, it's cute but depressing. What a shitshow this world is going to be in the next 30 years.

why isn't she black?

You’re pretty naive if you think there aren’t already entire discarded cars or trailer homes that have already been dumped in the ocean.

Seriously, though, how many of you guys recycle? Sometimes I’m amazed by how many people I know just don’t do it, or even do it wrong.

In my town, each household is allotted one garbage can (if you overfill the can the trashguy won’t take it unless it’s in a special extra expensive town-issued trashbag) and you get a much larger recycling bin, to encourage recycling over trashing because our local landfills are too full. But my asshole neighbors keep just putting their mixed landfill-only garbage in our recycle bin and the recycling guys won’t touch it. It’s really pissing me off and I don’t get why it’s so hard for so many people to just to recycle correctly and reduce waste.

Not sure how it works in your country but why is recycling a duty of the poeple, shoudn't be the government the ones that should separate the garbage? You pay taxes to pave roads and keep your house from being looted, Why is recycling different?

Dump their trash onto their lawn. Believe it or not, there's legal precedent for charging folks for tampering with private property (ie putting their trash into someone else's trash can). Or you can just grind up glass and toss the powder onto their doormat.

Recycling is also polluting
There's no escape

I live in Massachusetts. For the love of fuck, please don’t suggest giving them an excuse to raise my taxes even higher. I’ll happily sort my damn garbage if it means I can make rent.

Recycling is placebo; it makes you feel like you're doing something positive but you aren't actually doing anything at all. The recycling process uses so much energy and creates so many pollutants in the process that it does more harm to the environment than it actually protects by reusing glass/plastic/metal/paper.

Sort of like how people feel great about themselves when they donate money to "offset their carbon footprint" but that isn't actually creating less pollution in the air, they're just being scammed out of their money.

We share an apartment building. Their lawn is my lawn. Well, it’s not so much a lawn as a tiny square patch of dead grass next to the stoop. And it’s already full of their garbage that overflowed from the can.

Fine we'll meet half way. They'll lower your rent but raise the taxes so you're still fine.

>Sort of like how people feel great about themselves when they donate money to "offset their carbon footprint" but that isn't actually creating less pollution in the air, they're just being scammed out of their money.

Most charities don't actually use the money they collect to progress the causes they supposedly exist to aid. Like Komen Race for the Cure spends more money suing other breast cancer charities for copyright infringement (like anyone who uses the phrase "for the cure") than they actually spend on breast cancer research and treatment. Charities are business first and foremost and they have THE MOST to lose if whatever problem they exist to help solve actually gets solved. If breast cancer gets cured, suddenly they're all out of a job. Don't want that.

I used to live in a state that had an "emissions tax" on all motor vehicles. How paying an additional tax for emissions helped the environment was never articulated, it was just a way for the sate government to take more of our money. But it was a blue state, so a lot of people were hardcore in favor of the tax because paying it made them feel like they were accomplishing something.

this

maybe she could get people to actually clean up the oceans or something

Gubment can’t tell my landlord what to charge me.

most things that are put in recycling bins can't even really be recycled anyway
such as pizza boxes, despite being cardboard if there is a part with grease on it then it just goes to the landfill

its sad really, but it doesn't stop me from sorting my recycling and trash anyway

Attached: 140304-everest-trash-mainart-10a_ad2b588ce569176904df1e8444ed6e18.jpg (2500x1786, 542K)

Based
The only worthwhile recycling is an organic/"wet" trash that can be used as a compost.

Same. Around me most recycling plants you can go to to get money for recycling tell you what can and cant be recycled when they examine it, but most people just let waste management take care of it instead.

>The recycling process uses so much energy and creates so many pollutants in the process that it does more harm to the environment than it actually protects by reusing glass/plastic/metal/paper

That's wrong. I remember from school learning that recycling aluminum takes 95% less energy than it does to create new aluminum. I think steel is about 75%. That's an incredibly dramatic difference in the amount of energy used.

if I had the space for it I'd compost
apartment living doesn't allow for it

>Sort of like how people feel great about themselves when they donate money to "offset their carbon footprint" but that isn't actually creating less pollution in the air, they're just being scammed out of their money.
How is that being scammed out of their money if it actually goes to offsetting the carbon?

>its sad really, but it doesn't stop me from sorting my recycling and trash anyway
So the part where it costs more to recycle than to create new materials or grow new trees and the part where the chemicals used to break down fibers are extremely noxious and bad forr the environment didn't stop you?

Can you provide a source on this?

just trust me bro.

>I remember from school learning that recycling aluminum takes 95% less energy than it does to create new aluminum.
That's cause aluminum is one of those minerals that's a bitch to extract and separate, but once it's purified it's way easier to deal with.

Here's the best image I found to show how much energy recycling a material expends compared to creating a new one. Everything I'm looking up seems to confirm these figures, but it does seem a little hard to pin down the exact numbers or get further insight into the process.

By all accounts, it seems like recycling is a better option.

charities are all a scam anyway

But... Ariel already IS the Little Trashmaid. Like, that was her thing, she collected human trash.

Hey-ooo!

It's a case by case situation. The article you posted doesn't even specify which charities.

it lists the 50 worst charities in America
smartasset.com/mortgage/the-50-worst-charities-in-america-how-to-keep-from-being-scammed

I'm not saying their all bad but if you want your money to do good give it directly to the people in need

Hey man, I went and looked up the original source for this article.

smartasset.com/mortgage/the-50-worst-charities-in-america-how-to-keep-from-being-scammed

It's from a retirement savings website that seems to be steering you into giving them your money instead of giving it away to charity. The article itself is not sourced very well. Several times throughout the full article the website links you to services they provide that seem to be calls to action to get you to give them your money.

While, of course, some charities are scams, it's wrong to think that all charities are scams.

Penn & Teller's Bullshit did a good episode on recycling. They concluded that most forms of recycling create more waste and produce more pollution than they prevent, with the exception being aluminum cans; THAT recycling actually works.

But they pointed out things like how recycling glass is useless if the glass is different colors and still sticky. Essentially, all glass bottles have to be sorted by color and then thoroughly washed with labels removed before it can even begin to be melted down and reused. Recycling paper is essentially impossible because of the inks and greases on them; they basically just burn them or send them to a landfill, anyway. Recycling plastic never ever works unless you're making "trash plastics" like those park benches that look like they're made from dog turds.

Outside of aluminum cans and some precious metal recoveries, recycling is all a big scam.

>It's important to remember that these numbers are just for the 50 worst offenders.
I'm not saying that this never happens and you should always check that the charities you're giving to are reputable, but picking out the worst examples so that you can morally justify doing nothing at all is pretty pathetic

I know it wouldn't be right but I wish I could take her out of the ocean and put her in a clean lake near my home, and before you say something about her being from the ocean means she needs salt water the lake by my home is a salt water lake fed by a salty river .

>recycling glass is useless if the glass is different color
Do yanks not separate their glass recycling into different colours? I thought this was common practise

the most separation we do is cardboard/glass/plastic/metal, but to be honest I just have one big bin for everything to be put into
the rest of the sorting is done at the plants

>why is recycling a duty of the poeple, shoudn't be the government the ones that should separate the garbage?
how god damn lazy are you?
The city gives you 2 bins
one for garbage, the other for recycling.
It could not be easier.

Yeah that's just dumb. Having people sort at home is much much more efficient (although less people are willing to recycle if it's more work, so there is a trade off)

they get paid to do it, we don't
no disrespect meant, its really that simple

>Seriously, though, how many of you guys recycle? Sometimes I’m amazed by how many people I know just don’t do it, or even do it wrong.
I share the recycle bin with 2 other apartments. They get filled up with amazon boxes in a blink of an eye so I cant recycle anymore.

The government wants to individualize the burden of stopping pollution to give the illusion that it is somehow the fault of the individual that the earth is dying and the oceans are full of plastic waste and toxic runoff, when in reality the vast majority of pollution is produced by their lobbyists and masters. Vegans are duped in the same way by people selling a product/lifestyle.

>by their lobbyists and masters
That's a very roundabout way of saying "the economies of China and India". I mean, I get where you're going with this, the whole inherent White Supremacy of liberalism and all, but it's not like people above a certain income just dump mercury in rivers and burn plastic for fun.

>it's not like people above a certain income just dump mercury in rivers and burn plastic for fun.

Every episode of Captain Planet begs to differ.

Is this a fetish?

Why.
