you obviously didn't read my post properly, I said the important thing is striking a good balance between Cute and Monstrous, and it'd be something that goes both ways, most of the original 5 Ghouls would get some changes to their designs to be more monstrous for one thing

basically one of the things for this concept is to treat it like as though it's to be something real, and the easiest way to merchandise this sort of concept is through Fashion Dolls, and for that you need to fulfill certain requirements, but at the same time I don't want to just do a 1:1 rehash of Monster High

the torsos would be mostly normal in overall shape(if not necessarily in detail), and similarly the arms and legs would as well, the parts that would be the most variable would be the heads, the hands & feet, and any "accessory" parts like tails, wings, and etc

as for how those more variable parts would be done in a way conducive to a fashion doll is fairly simple, they'd be designed to be interchangeable and removable, so for example if a top wouldn't fit over their hands or head they could be taken off to let it pass and then be popped back on, the specifics of these parts for each character I'll explain in a subsequent post

Wouldn't that mean that realistically this show would be marketed primarily to little girls? That kind of conflicts with a lot of the other ideas you've presented, I think a studio would be more interested in you just making Monster High 2.0 instead of letting you try to incorporate genuinely creepy elements and a strong story. I also don't know if little girls would be interested in the dolls if they have those monstrous elements to them.

This just sounds horribly limiting from a character design stand point. I mean, this is why the Monster High characters were very boring to look at for the most part. Toy companies/execs may even ask you to make your designs even more simplistic just to cut costs and by that point you're basically taking away one of the best elements of the original Ghoul School which was their varied designs.

Interesting enough the new ghouls are based on 50s-60s Nuclear fear era movies while the originals girls where based on the Classic 30s-40s Gothic horror era.

Based of this logic generation 3 would be based on the 70s-80s Occult/Slasher films, and generation 4 would be based on 90s-00s Japanese horror and zombie movies.
