what?

This can be the next thread for the Birthday Blowout special. What's it about? It's the 20th anniversary special that follows Spongebob's birthday, along with live-action skits from the crew.

It's funny how they're trying to appeal to nostalgiafags without understanding what made spongebob so good in the first place

It was nice to see Patchy finally get to meet Spongebob.

It was also kinda strange to learn that Spongebob already knew who Patchy was.

nostalgia's all they got right now

Did they make a live action recreation of the chocolate scene?

haven't seen spongebob since like 2010
the character designs look a lot more cartoony (i guess?)

It's shit, blame Paul Tibbit

Nope.
It was more an original script than a recreation.

Considering the whole Plankton threating everyone at gun point thing...

That's the new problem with the "post-2nd movie era." The new crew are mostly people who grew up with seasons 1-3, so they throw in pointless callbacks and references.

Thought they would've (they recreated the "no this is Patrick" scene)

The more cartoony style only started after Tibbitt left.

The recreations were only for Youtube.
Pretty much the whole live action bit in the official episode was new stuff with a few references sprinkled in.

I don't care about references, but thinking they're a substitute for good writing... that's the problem.

Tibbet is the only one who has called out the other members on their bullshit for the spinoff. He is a cool dude, how dare you.

Pretty sure the reason why he was only person to call them out was because he left the show while the others were left at gunpoint by Nick executives not to talk shit about it.

Attached: Dare.jpg (895x500, 72K)

It wouldn't surprise me if he left because he was sick of Nick's bullshit.
He was supposed to be writing the plot of the third movie but was replaced by Tim Hill.

Reminder that Tibbitt received death threats for "ruining SpongeBob" when he was the showrunner

>people care THAT MUCH about spongebob
nostalgia and youtube critics were a mistake

2013 era mr. enter was a mistake and youtube recommending his videos to virtually every cartoon fan was an even bigger mistake

The actual episodes haven't been good but the ending song for the 10th anniversary always makes me tear up. The birthday song in this one was cute too and so were the little videos at the end just wish they didn't sacrifice in-universe lore for celebrity cameos though. The tenth anniversary episode was shit but they handled that a lot better Can't wait for the 30th anniversary episode hopefully it isn't too soulless by then.

kek

>DUDE BEANS LMAO

you can't be serious

>no Squilliam, DoodleBob, Chocolate Guy or Nosferatu

If you're going to bank on nostalgia then do it right.

>check YouTube
>"This is the best SpongeBob episode"

I hate how most of Americans have absolutely shit taste,it was 6/10 not 10/10,most of the shit focused on live action and retarded faces and the only good thing was patchi finally meeting SpongeBob

Lol

>We were so close to Spongebob reuniting with the Hoff

I mean this is post movie right? Mindy was there. It was a fun episode overall though, the live action Spongebob stuff was cute

AYE AYE MR KRABS

So you find the whole "BEANS LMAO" stuff even funny?

Serious question

not him but calm your europoor ass, it's just fucking beans

It definitely should take place after the first movie in the timeline since Hoff is older and Mindy showed up. The only thing missing is a direct reference to Spongebob being the manager but since he has his own personal key to the Krusty Krab, it's safe to assume her is. I think this is the only episode that explicitly takes place after the movie even the second movie leaves it slightly ambiguous despite being a sequel. There a chance that it might even be post-second movie considering how they treat Plankton as a full on friend and he doesn't try to ruin the party. All in all this episode did a lot for people that care about the timeline.

...i never knew that's what they were saying until now.

this is an even bigger Mandela moment than when I forgot Tobey Maguire was in Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas, one of my favorite movies.

so you checked where every kid that commented on the clip lives? impressive

This episode was premiered with dub in LA,buy seriously what's the deal with the beans? I'm not talking about the bigger with bean can disguise I'm talking about how nick thinks that is even funny throwing beans at people

With not water instead? They are on a beach

>he can't tell what country someone lives in by their profile picture

Attached: 08.png (1920x1080, 1.38M)

imagine being so autistic you care about the timeline in spongebob squarepants

10/10 thx user, this is perfect for /ck/

it's just a silly skit they did, there's literally nothing to get mad about

and for water, that would be pointless since they can just dive in the ocean and get wet

Why would I imagine it when I am autistic enough to care about it?

>user has never been in a bean fight

Attached: 1443306461989.jpg (1280x960, 584K)

That raises two questions. Why was he replaced, and why didn't Nick replace him before shitting out the mess of a second movie?

>Why was he replaced
he left the company
>why didn't Nick replace him before shitting out the mess of a second movie?
because he was still the showrunner at the time, why the hell would you replace someone who continued to give you billions of dollars after stephen left

Chocolate guy was there

>no second of them passing by the Bubble Bowl or mention of Texas
Just to add to it.

So basically the entire fucking wiki

>And that somehow makes it alright for a bunch of entitled man babies to lash out in such a way.

Truth or Square is filler at most. I watched it twice and it’s like PPG’s City of Clipsville

>Mermaid Man and Barnicle Boy are both dead

It alright

Attached: cute.png (1356x720, 903K)

Alright isn't good enough for extra long anniversary episodes though. The very beginning, the vent stories, and the end song are the only good things about it. Even though the new one has less of a story, even more filler, pandering to nostalgia and celebrity cameos it's way better and likely going to be far more memorable to me than the 10th anniversary.

>when the dog walks out of the office
fucking hell whose idea was that

better than the 2009 special

after the second movie

>the fucking dog shit
Man if you were high as fuck it'd be a based time

The entire Trusty Slab bit was amazing and seeing the actors play out the roles in live action is pretty hilarious. Everything else is just icing on the glorious cake that is this special.

To be fair, Bubble Bass being the "pretentious fast food connoisseur" he is seemed like he could be an interesting recurring character but he wasn't used much - aside from a few appearances.- for many seasons...

It's weird imagining zoomers having nostalgia for the seasons of Spongebob (everything past 2005-2006) that were so bad that 10 year old me dropped the show entirely.

Consider the fact that Nick (and they still do this) airs the episodes in no particular order, so children wouldn't really see the difference between the quality.

I find it funny that their increase usage of Bubble Bass correlates with the decrease of Squlliam. I'm not saying it's causation, but it does make you wonder whether or not dee bradley baker had problems with the voice.

Just finished watching it. Thought it started out terribly but ended up being pretty good actually. What the fuck is up with everyone though? I haven't really seen new spongebob eps since around season 4, and everyone seems way more annoying now. That bit with Patrick in the beginning was ass. It seems like Plankton is the only one who's the same.

There were a lot of good bits though, loved the trusty slab. The shout out to Hillenburg was sweet and made me sad.

im gonna kill you

>To be fair, Bubble Bass being the "pretentious fast food connoisseur" he is seemed like he could be an interesting recurring character but he wasn't used much - aside from a few appearances.- for many seasons...
I think I recall reading somewhere(like I think it might have been an interview with Hillenberg from around the time the first movie came out) that they had originally intended both Bubble Bass and Flats Flounder to have been more recurring antagonists for SpongeBob, but then Plankton turned out to be a lot more popular of an antagonist than they had originally anticipated, so they focused more on him instead
