Rewatch the Mask cartoon out of nostalgia

This, Freakazoid and Earthworm Jim were my go-to "smart" cartoons. It even had a crossover with Ace Ventura that seemingly became the basis for an episode of Jackie Chan Adventure's fourth season.
Elaborate.
The Mask and The Tick was way superior to Freakazoid. The Tick felt a little like Fat Dog Mendoza in weirdness. Earthworm Jim felt kinda like Beetlejuice.
The Mask had an edge which not many lolsorandumb protagonist cartoons had.
Despite The Mask's Looney tunes tier power, everything else about the show was exceptionally gritty, dull and serious.
Almost like Scooby Doo where only Shaggy and Scooby where the onlygoofy charavters and the rest of the show was serious.
>onlygoofy charavters
I get your point, but some antagonists of the Mask were pretty damn goofy too. Like Gorgonzola or Putty Thing and FishGuy.
I shall do so with pictures! Best image I could find for the crossover, but yes he sits on the mask and his ass gets a face.
And then in JCA
Animation is total dogshit though. You'd think with how much of a hit the movie was they'd have put more money into it.
Rob Paulsen was amazing. He could have probably played The Mask in live action
Oh I remember this crossover. The Mask team did 1 episode and the Ace Ventura team did 1 episode.
They complement nicely together.
It was middling for the time, better than most licensed cartoons to be honest.

Becoming Fish Guy would be a serious bummer
I loved FishGuy and PuttyThing
>Freakazoid tier
It was way better than Freakazoid. Freakazoid was mostly mediocre.
Gorgonzola was a legit serious threat, she could turn the entire damn city into cheese.
Putty Thing would have been a serious problem too, if he wasn't a moron stoner.
Praetorious had so much underground mad science crap that he almost caused multiple planetary scale genocides if the Mask didn't stop him.
There was the guy whose power was blowing up like a balloon, once he got a plutonium drive he could do nuclear explosions. He was goofy, but still a huge threat.
I think the only enemy who WASNT a threat was the kingpin with the shark teeth, and ironically enough Walter (he was just an unstoppable Frankenstein monster; not a dude who could travel time or steal your soul or control weather or controlled a deadly swarm of bees or turn you into a diary product).
Was The Mask the best reality warper out of cartoons?
Not even close.
This son of a bitch could chase Wander Over Yonder to the ends of the universe, let alone have problems following SHOCKEEERR.
As long as we're talking about obscure 90s licensed cartoons, is the Sam & Max series worth watching?
- Ace: I am the detective. You are the superpowered guy.
(Sounds familiar?).
It's very similar to Earthworm Jim. Also similar to Freakazoid, but Zoid had the problem of never having a complete and well structured episode. Freakazoid always felt like a bunch of comedy shorts slapped together at the last minute, even I Am Weasel had more plot cohesion.
I wish the WA would release the rest of the seasons on dvd.
Only in the first season. The second season's episodes were much more traditional in their structure.
Yeah. Even as a toned down kid safe version of itself, Sam and Max's writing and gags were still well in line with the rest of the franchise.
