you first.
No bulli
This is what Spider-Man should be. Fiercely determined. Wavering but never breaking, mature, thoughtful, always working for the people he loves.
Literally what has happened in the last decade?
It's an immeasurable shame that this didn't stick. This little tragedy is written singularly perfect.
Slott?
He’s like that in the recent kraven arc though
>Forgetting the hyphen
Oh. Right.
Spider-bull
Death doesn't exist in capeshit
Aw hell this is just a repeat of last thread anyway.
Why does no one like spiderman anymore?
Ah dammit I just started this run
He's written by ascended fanboys with no creativity like all capes.
I love Spider-Man, it just so happens that the modern idea of the character is a far cry from the character I grew up reading. Not to say it hasn't gotten any better as of late.
BONG
I really want an animated version of JMS's run someday or at least a little movie of this arc. Well, up to before "Sin of the past" anyway, guy was on fire with his run but they shouldn't have let the leash loose too much that time.
easy
We can't even be sure whether it did stick or not is what makes it even dumber. Someone who looks like Peter shows up with no explanation, stays around with no explanation, disappears again with the girl because it's still "a Pete" with no explanation.
DELETE
Not all too much of a spoiler. Who knew Spider-Man would die in the arc called 'The Death of Spider-Man"
Wish death meant something in comics. It's hard to feel anything.
Get fucked.
Spider-man being the greatest or greatest moments from Spider-man?
I'm so pissed they kept Norman memory wiped of Peter for so long.
Just imagine what we could have gotten from Dark Reign for instance.
Both
glad to see this one's the first
The freatest Spider-man moment will be when he finally kills himself and ends the Parker Curse.
t. Norman Osborn
T.doc ock
I don't understand the page. USM had more focus on Richard Parker. I'd say Uncle Ben got mentioned about 3 times after his death.
Endless retcons
I just finished it and got the exact opposite of that. Only time Richard is brought up is when Peter's clone of him is there and when he dies Peter didn't even care.
...
Because editorial was actively tanking him to build miles.
Does anyone have Peter's silent rampage from Origin of the Species?
The Night Gwen Stacey died is famous for obvious reasons, but the storytelling is really, really good.
SECOND TO THE RIGHT AND STRAIGHT ON TO A DEAL WITH THE DEVIL WHERE I SACRIFICE MY MARRIAGE AND UNBORN DAUGHTER TO PRESERVE YOUR DECREPIT OLD SOUL FROM EVER LEAVING THIS MORTAL COIL!
whats happening
This was literally the only good part of the Miles shill fest that was Spider-Geddon.
wait, didnt that whole universe get deleted?
It got brought back at some point and had all its problems "fixed" off-panel. The dead heroes including Peter are alive and thriving, and presumably pretty much everything from Ultimates 2 onward didn't happen.
Wasn't that an actress pretending to be Aunt May?
KINO
....not long later
Someone post the one where he saves that orphan girl in the alley. You know, the one where he gets her to the hospital in time, and her Rich dad is coming to get her, and he's taking her to meet the Avengers?
I'd like to see that one.
What is this from
Origin of the Species
I only have the bad-end edit some asshole made once. Anyone got the real happy ending?
Why don't people like this?
this one?
You are not friend.
Yes. Shame too, that issue was great.
Norman has just killed Gwen after Harry overdosed, now Peter is off to murder Norman.
Have people here really not read The Night Gwen Stacey Died?
Norman should just get his own thread, he's a fucking champion of supervillains
What does it mean if I never read this issue but made a fanfiction that had something 95% am I just a lucky hack or is it just a pretty simple premise?
>mfw spider man and captain America were my two favorites growing up
>mfw no good spider man comics lately and captain America arguably became a selfish coward in the last movie
At least no modern writers like Gambit, so he'll always be preserved in the 90s era of "cool"
This is for you user
>stuckyfags still butthurt
>IT WAS ME, PETER.
I miss how creative comics used to be with their panels.
Those three last panels could be a storyboard for a film.
Because Spider-man isn't Spider-man anymore
All these great moments ruined by continuity.
Only because the writers and fans are scared of moving on.
Don't bring your faggot fantasy shit ship to me you strange and peculiar weirdo.i just didn't like the idea that he would have let JFK or 9/11 happen and shit
You can keep doing monster of the week forever, there's no need to move on. The problem is writers want to keep redefining stuff and leave an impact.
lets fuck up reality, what could go wrong?
>Bendis resurrected Ult Peter just so he could give his blessings to Miles
It wasn't enough with 616 Peter and the entire cast of the Ult universe huh
honestly the reason this works so well is that Norman not only trolled the shit out of Peter, but he trolled the shit out of the readers by proxy as well.
>"Hey remember that year-plus of total horseshit you guys had to deal with? You know how the Spider-Man books have all been totally derailed and ruined? GUESS WHAT BITCHES, THAT WAS ALL ME!"
Hypercrisis is real.

Only good moment in this shitpile of a story. Could have been better without Gwen tho, Norman has done so much more to him that just showing Peter's angered face would have been more impactful
If only because Norman's done SO MUCH. In video, it'd be a whole montage.
Honestly it should have been a collage of moments with Gwen in the center,
this might not be greatest but I really like this story
>the modern idea of the character is a far cry from the character I grew up reading
grow up nazi
>let's hide and shy away from every atrocity, how could this possibly not fit for the star spangled man with a plan?
It's totally out of character for him to not try and stop anything of that sort, user, repercussions for him or not
>implying nu-Yea Forums reads comics
God I hate this board sometimes
what is this from? based on im assuming its soemthing from JMS?
JMS is probably one of if not consistently the best Spider-man writer, he gets a lot of shit (somewhat deservedly) for also writing the two worst Spider-man stories but you can place most of the blame on Queseda. It's a shame that all the great little stories he wrote get buried under those two stinkers, even though he wrote the character for almost as long as Slott did but was far far better than the shitty self insert fan fiction Slott wrote. Even John Romita Jr was on point for the run.
>leash loose too much that time
If the rumors are true than Sins Past and One More Day are less JMS getting off the leash and more Quesada tightening the leash around him
>In video, it'd be a whole montage.
>what have I ever done to you?
>Literally an entire episode of just clips of thinks Norman did to Peter
>ends with Pete diving out the window with him
Fans really hate seeing their characters get shit on and humiliated by the new characters especially ones made after 2010, even though Spider-man getting shit on is part of his character, he gets shit on but he also shits on other characters on a regular basis. Remember when he beat up the greatest X-men team single handedly at the first peak of their popularity during Marvels best event
Norman is a bitch nigga who failed at being world class three fucking times because he can't stop fucking with Pete and look at the bigger picture
Get your fucking batfaggotry out of this perfect thread.
Is this loss?
That's what makes him great.
The one thing he and Peter have in common is that when they fail, they alwayd get back up and keep going.
>Fans really hate seeing their characters get shit on and humiliated by the new characters especially ones made after 2010, even though Spider-man getting shit on is part of his character
There's a difference in humiliating Peter in order to make him more sympathetic and likeable, and humiliating Peter in order to make his replacement look better (and it ends up having the opposite effect)
What does spiderman do when hes depressed about life shitting on him?
What Quesada did is undeniably bad, but what JMS was going to do was also very bad
How am I a Nazi? I'm just pointing out that the modern manchild version of the character is completely different than what Spider-Man ever was and should be.
Yeah man, he's a villain.
If he didn't fuck it all up going after Spider-Man, he'd just be "a rich asshole"
He does what is right.
dilate
Did the Spectacular show ever have moments like this? I feel like I remember something similar but it was probably when he had the symbiote suit
It more how people get so vitriolic about Spider-man and others loosing to make their "replacements" look good. They treat it like some sort of personal affront (though sometimes it is) when it's been a thing for some time, anyone remember when Punisher completely shat on Pete during Enis's Marvel Knights or when Deadpool killed him with no challange in DP Kills the Marvel Universe (don't try an pull the not cannon card). Hell Wolverine gets humiliated all the time to make others look cool and threatening.
The scene is from an arc called "Happy Birthday". Spider-man finds himself lost in time with Doctor Strange after a battle with the Lord of the Dark Dimension. Strange finds a way for Spider-man to return to his time but must relive through his greatest battles and tragedies. Should he fail in his journey back to his time to prevent the coming of Dormammu the earth falls to his might. Thought it was good story.
C'mon man that was the stalest bait I've ever seen user and you took it hook line and sinker
Are you talking about Sins Past or OMD.
That's the thing Norman could be a world class threat, look at Dark Reign but he's too petty and short sighted. He should be fucking with Tony Stark and the Fantastic 4 if he put his mind to it.
The first appearance of Morlun under Strascinsky. Totem bullshit may not be your thing, but the "you got the powers, you got the mask, you're spider-man, act like it" page and the " I AM NOT PURE" punch are 100% Top Spidey moments
Closest he ever came to that was when the symbiot piloted his body against the sinister six. He had a few other good moments though like crashing Norman onto that water tower full of pumkin bombs
Uncle Ben is a Big Guy
The DP kills the universe kill was annoying but the Thor kill was far more bullshit.
I hear what you’re saying about ennis and I don’t remember the full story but I did find it funny how frank was using Pete’s unconscious body as a human shield as he finished off that tranny Russian guy. He treated Wolverine far worse so I was alright with it, he seemed to have a hate boner for every super in that run (except for cap of course)
I think the only superhero Ennis doesn't hate is Superman
So, Norman knew about Warren and the cloning since before?
Harry's whole 2nd run as the Goblin get's unsurprisingly overshadowed by Kraven's Last Hunt, but it really needs to be discussed more.
Peter is such a great character, I wish the first Marvel high budget animated feature movie was about him and not Spider-Verse
Spider-Verse was not as bad as it could've been, but I prefer even the MCU movies over it since they actually focus on Peter, people and critics calling SV a "love letter to Spider-Man" felt like I was being psy-oped like when everyone was calling Gal Gadot hot when WW came out
where are his pants?
why is he topless
Thanos dusted them?
Jesus Christ Harry was a far better Green Goblin than Norman, Norman wishes he could fuck with Peter this good
This was almost a storytime but I can't say I'm sorry
And then we go to
As much as I adore this story, I'm glad they've avoided brining him back as the Goblin, even if it would have been better to not bring him back at all.
If they used him the way they used Norman it'd have undermined his tragic villainy.
So much of what makes this story great is how it builds on what's been established about the characters over all those years. If history had gone another way, Harry would have stayed a completely ordinary family man.
Watching him and his friendship with Peter fall apart is genuinly tragic.
I have an old trade called spiderman vs the green goblin that contains the night Gwen Stacy died arc and this arc it was super confusing to young me because I had only really read the essentials and saw Pete and Harry being friends
Yeah this works better as a one off sort of thing, it's just a shame that Norman has been riding the whole "killed Gwen Stacy" thing for the last 30+ years while that mini storytime with Harry was painful to read (in a good way). Motherfucker does not want to do this but he still proceeds out of some weird filial piety, but at the same time goes all in on it and it's a shame this gets swept away for more Norman being a cunt again. The Osbornes work way better when they have a fucked up love for each other instead of the whole "Don't speak to me or my son (or your son whom you made by cucking me with my girlfriend whatever the fuck Normie is this cycle) ever again"
Bonus
The problem with posthumous evil plans is that if you redeam yourself last minute its really hard to cancel them.
I like to think in a timeline where OMD fidn't happen, Harry got to the afterlife, saw Peter's parents had the biggest "OH SH**!" moment in history.
So what was in the box?
Arguably this story was the one that kind of moved Norman from tragic, neglectful father and victim of the serum to actuall bastard and flat out abusive father.
I actually prefer Norman that way, though I do think he should still care a little about Harry. Like in the "No one's allowed to mess with him but me" kind of way,
His super model wife.
Jesus. That's garbage.
Context: Peter's apparently dead parents returned from the grave and all was seemingly well untill they turned out to be robots created to destroy him by the Chameleon, who was working on behalf of....
FUCK PHYSICS!
No Peter making Kingpin his bitch in prison yet?
BECAUSE FUCK PHYSICS I'M SPIDER-MAN
Harry of course.
This wasn't really planned ahead and does undercut Harry's redemption a bit.
On the other half it does fit Harry's tendencies to troll Peter specifically as the Goblin, was planned at the height of his Goblin mania so he probably just forgot to mention it as he died, and does fit poetically with the start of Harry and Peter's friendship where they bonded over lack of parental presence.
Chameleon would make a good villain for a future film.
>this whole thread
lmao nigga who gives a shit, status quo and all
This is why I could never respect his defeat in the first in-head battle vs SpOck...totally out of character. Pete never stays down, definitely not for as long as Slott had him out of the picture
These are some blessed Trips you got here
Does MJ knows how to motivate Peter with something that's not sex?
Wouldn't constant super model pussy motivate you
No cause he's a faggot and one of those autistic MJ haters
When your entire relationship relies mostly on sex, you can tell your relationship will never end up well, why do you think all of Spider-Man relationships post-One more day ended up quickly?
Is there a third instances of Petermusing this move
I really do think Spider-Man is Marvel's greatest hero in terms of in comic actions and just in general.
Dark reign is stupid though. He kills the skull queen and the whole world forgets his past? Fucking weak, bro
And this is why Big Two comics suck ass.
;_;7
Do a PPSM#25 plox
So where's a good recommended Spiderman list?
Norman is a fucking idiot who should stay dead forever but nooooo editorial loves the guy. Fuck that.
D'aw. Thanks for posting.
It's so weird, as a kid I couldn't stand Buscema's art, nowadays I love it.
I mean if you look at the general trends of populism and add Marvel Citizenship's trademark...whatever their deal is, on top of it.
I can buy it.
Personally I think they've all achieved some sort of meta-awareness of what kind of world they live in and are deliberately making life as hard as possible for the heroes as way of exerting a control over their existential dread surrounding how little value their lives have in a world that revolves around capes.
hnnng
Wasn't she fantasizing about MJ and Peter's kid and how she'd never meet them? That's fucking Liquid Ocelot levels of committing to the bit.
It's a stupid fucking retcon is what it is. Fuck status quo.
Friendly neighborhood has been so good so far
We don’t deserve zdarsky. I told myself that I would only buy trades when this started, but a month back I randomly found this issue and it made me regret not picking it up month to month
Zdarsky looks good by comparison with Slott maybe. There were much better takes on the same story about victimized children. And most of his time on Spider-man is spent bringing in super-duper spy secret sister OC nobody needed or wanted in the first place. Especially since he already had fully fledged sibling dynamics with Ben, and Marlel did what they did.
I have a strong feeling that he is Spider-man's own King in making.
Where the fuck did she come from? I’ve been reading for years and I have no memory of her, and while she was annoying his one of decision to reveal his identity to JJJ was more character development in one page than slott did for peter in 10 years
Which is really surprising for that cynical Scottish cunt to love such an ironically pure character
I remembered that slott brought Harry’s mom back with a surprise stint casting in his last arc and (of course) didn’t do anything with it. I really wish Harry would nut up and kill his father, he was absolutely the better goblin and character
>super-duper spy secret sister OC nobody needed or wanted
Isn't she from Family Business and revealed to be some random CIA spook Mesmero mind fucked into thinking she was Pete's sister
>Does MJ knows how to motivate Peter with something that's not sex?
Does she need to? She's a supermodel.
For someone who managed to become the CEO of Stark Industries, i expetes her to be far more competent on other stuff.
She kinda fell upstairs
Most of the time all they do now it's just fucking and her trying to convince Peter to leave the super hero life.
We’ll see what they do with MJ being in the spotlight again with acting. But it’s not that unreasonable that she would try to console her husband physically. So much of his work is getting grievously harmed for an almost spiteful city so doing something mutual like love making seems like a solid start to perk up a day for him. Read through JMSs run there they have a nice rapport together with her being a supportive ear
How did they stick an iv cath through his sleeve?
This is great
Based. Absolutely based.
Actually it's more like
>IT WAS YOU, PETER
For all we know Norman has a harem of Gwen clones he keeps impregnating with his superior pumpkin seeds
I remember I made a background of of that steven strange image. Man, I wonder what happened to it...
Weird how marvel has forgot the existance of sins of the past, good riddance.
But unironically i would like to see a new retcon to erase that shit with Norman knowing about Jackal's cloning and using it to his gain, they already undid One more day so why not try it?
>I remembered that slott brought Harry’s mom back with a surprise stint casting in his last arc
I cannot understand why this happened. It didn't serve the story in anyway and was to late to be used, and yet completely undermines yet another important aspect of Norman's character; that he genuinly loved his wife.
When reading Clone Conspiracy the thought came into my head of "What if Harry's mom came back" and thought seeing Norman and Harry react to that would make a neat side story.
And then she came back for real and no one really gave a shit. Why?
>I really wish Harry would nut up and kill his father, he was absolutely the better goblin and character
That'd kind of undermine the whole point of his story. Honestly at this point he should back up and retire quietly untill Normie is needed to have romantic tension with which ever Parker Daughter comes into existence.
I would call it "Confessions of the future".
Yeah I get that, as much as I would love Harry to have a happy ending it doesn’t seem like they’ll let him. Norman has already corrupted both normie and Liz on top of the weird cuck shit with his wife. It’d be nice if he knew Pete’s secret to see how they’d deal with their history. Especially now that Norman is back and Harry hates him and knows exactly what he’s always been apparently
Probaby since he was running Oscorp. Cloning means organs for transplants.
funniest moment IMO
Mental gymnastics at its finest
That’s my peter
>not comics, but definitely my favorite part of the movie
That’s a typo. The line was “except Every Rose Has It’s Thorn”.
I didn't care much for Civil War but the part where Peter flips sides. Mr. Fantastic tries to subdue him but can't match Parkers agility, in shock and awe Fantastic says "Amazing". I think it was in the next panel Parker bodies him with one punch while retorting with "Spectacular".
>You coming inside?
>You bet
I will never not imagine Sue and Peter wanting to fuck.
HAH! I remember that. As a Spider-Man mark is was so fucking satisfying to read. But then again this was back in the day when Mystique could fucking 1v1 the team and come out on top. Still very impressive.
>or when Deadpool killed him with no challange in DP Kills the Marvel Universe
Those things are specifically written so the titular character has numerous ass pulls in their favor. In this specific case Peter's Spider-Sense didn't work because the narrative needed it not to work. That always happens whenever Peter gets taken out in one of those schlock books.
It did in that comic.
Damn. Sometimes it's the smallest things that can have the greatest impact. Nothing like romance, lads.
Spider-Man has been around for decades. There's bound to be some retread water. Take it as a little bit of column A and little bit of column B.
The one with javier pulido's art, issue 655 I think.
>Not posting the whole thing.
Anyone have the page where Spidey yeets a thug out a window for suggesting they kill a hostage? He says something like "Just saying that means you don't get to play anymore".
>Spider multiverse anything
>greatest Spider moments
Fuck no, it was bad in the cartoon, it was bad in the comics, it was bad in the movie
I always liked the mentor-ish relationship Strange has with Spidey
And we'll never see this in movie form.
I can't enjoy this. It was a sudden tragedy written purely to set up Miles.
Wouldn't doubt it.
Miles is a plague on Spider-man.
How is spider-man getting tanked in favour of miles now, especially given what’s happening in their current ongoings right now?
More than half of the moments in this thread were ruined by later bullshit and retcons, you should've honed your headcanon ignore sense by now or I don't know how you'd enjoy comics otherwise
That's pretty good.
Always like this issue despite the run.
You wrote about Gwen Stacey dying but never read The Night Gwen Stacey Died.
THE most famous Spidey story, 2nd to the origin.
Put some question mark in there
Satan with the good taste
>a page telling nothing
Welcome to modern capes.
90s Spidey was a little too stressed out and angry.
Look at his attitude with this cop. He wouldn't behave like that today.
As usual, the classic runs are the best.
>implying it's exclusive to modern capes
I gave up on modern indies long ago.
By the way that's a cool page.
Sal's human faces are weird but I like the way he draws Spider-Man even though his eye lens are fucked here.
>implying it's exclusive to modern anything
Nigga there's tons of "nothing" pages in classic stories as well. They always have and always will serve a purpose in storytelling, acting as breaks in between the larger moments
You're joking. Please don't tell me Bendis is that much up his own ass about his OC's that he did did the equivalent of ripping a heinous fart and greedily smelling it.
Do any of you know if Spidey's ever held down a helicopter by sticking to the ground?
It's true and Gwen also kissed Ganke for no reason.
I bet she would've sucked his dick is Bendis could get away with it.
616 Peter also quickly gave his blessing so wh6 not have ult Peter regenerate and do the same lol
He kinda did it on the ps4 game.
Bendis pls
Always feels good to see him dabbing on lame mutants
>writers fellate x-men to the point the main characters are all omega level hyperbeings who can kill Galactus
>Good old spider experience makes him untouchable
Bendis takes it to the extreme, doesn't mean all modern writers do
Post the sequence where he manages to hold an entire building.
MJ's thick dick sucking lips look cheesy but still a great sequence
>Peter is such a great character, I wish the first Marvel high budget animated feature movie was about him
Same. But only if they change Peter's voice. I just hate it so, so much. The casting choices and level of delivery from the characters in that film fluctuated too god damn much.
>felt like I was being psy-oped like when everyone was calling Gal Gadot hot when WW came out
I can buy the "love letter" junk as just sentimentality. Gadot casting is just jewish tricks.
>"everything I've done, everything I've had to do"
WHAT HAVE YOU DONE, YOU SQUEAKY CLEAN TWINK FAGGOPOD?!
Read comics.
Those good old days, when you were my girlfriend and Peter couldn't say three words without you trying to flag him into your gaping puss right in front of me and Gwen. I sure do miss those days
I mean, he did punch that girl's head off that one time. Wolverine's suicidal friend - the one who tricked him into it. Even though it wasn't technically his fault, he still feels pretty bad about that.
>no one posted angry spidey lifting up a fucking train to dab on ninjas
i dont blame him tho, its amazing how entitled and shitty some people are now days
>You never had the power keep them alive
Sasuga.
She comes from the graphic novel "family business".
It's by waid, it has Gabrielle dell'otto on art, it's very, very pretty, and it's not super good.
There's a sister, but the big reveal is that she's not a sister, and then the sort of post credits teaser is that maybe she is?
You post it
He is liked a lot. Especially with Spencer's run.
>Same. But only if they change Peter's voice. I just hate it so, so much. The casting choices and level of delivery from the characters in that film fluctuated too god damn much.
True, I usually like the actor but he was miscast as hell here and can't voice act for shit. I wish the celebrity voice actor meme would die and professional VAs got to work on animated movies again.
imgur.com
This one?
My favorite part about comics is that there’s always one page in some crossover bullshit horrid read that really works, always one page no matter what it is. Man why is there only one page so many goddamn times
Here
WARNING
Too much kino incoming.
The page in AvX where he solos Colossus and Magik was the only good part of that whole nightmare.
>I have a strong feeling that he is Spider-man's own King in making.
But Zdarsky never did any good books, ever.
So what IS the right question?
It’s “Are you happy?”
Let me guess: art by Greg Land
Nah, Salvador Larroca.
Was tempted to just post his pencils but couldn't find them in good quality.
Wait wait a goddamn minute 1610 is back? I heard the heroes had escaped and were chasing the maker but the rest of the world is now back, too?
That one was a true classic. I sure love modern Marvel. Peter Who am I right, fellas?
KEK
This whole sequence got me tearing up when I first read it. Still brings a tear to my eye when I read it again. I said it early but i really do want this whole arc animated and some damn good talent for the acting. I want myself balling all over again when I watch this scene.
Yeah, basically the boys who wrote edgy fanfics and ERP'd as Spider-man are now in charge of the comic and, like literally all contemporary comics, it's a shitshow.
You can draw a line right down the middle of the industry - on one side it's edgelords who never grew out of it, on the other its SJW's telling us that men are scum and the only way forward is to feminize the globe and convert to islam.
Night of The Goblin is my favorite Spider-Man issue, I think.
What can I buy to read this whole thing?
No I had a story of Harry doing drugs and almost oding and dying
>Nyaaah!
Spidey-Senpai! You're being too rough! I'm gonna break!
T-pose to assert dominance.
>Has super powers.
>Has hot wife.
>Has hot heroes and villains ready to get on their knees for him at a moments notice.
There are, like, 3 things that could happen in his life that are bad enough to justify him being anything but happy.
I don’t understand, what’s so bad about current ASM and FNSM?
That's a powerful moment right there. There's just so much said with that gesture. Harry reaches up to pull his mask off and Peter just lets him so they can look each other in the eyes with all their aggression.
>those proportions
uhh
i just got into comics this year, and this is the first run i read. Zdarsky is pretty good with spidey once he drops the quips
Oh don't be silly nigga. That moment looks damn good to me.
Spencer won me over the second he had this page referenced.
I second this
It’s in that nebulous era of the late 80s early 90s that never gets reprinted or collected for some reason. Find ways to read spectacular and web ofs the era normally have to be done online. I dunno why you’d think that sal bucemia would’ve gotten his own omnibus like other artists
This is fucked up. As a kid I never understood the dynamic between Harry and Peter. I always assumed Harry was just weak-willed who couldn't shit or get off the pot. I wanted a true successor to the Green Goblin's more daring and bombastic schemes. Turns out Harry is a fucking mess upstairs trying to keep it all together the entire time as a friendship between three people crumbles to pieces. Man.
I'm sorry but I hate when the web pattern and the red look that way, it makes spidey look like hes covered in armor plating
artist?
The 90s was all about the edgy heroes is why. Just look at any new hero or villain designed during the 90s
It's a good moment but her unintentionally funny face hurts it a little.
He’s probably talking about Sins Past because that one was the idea of JMS. His original intention was for the children to be Peter’s, editorial mad him change it to Norman. The thing about Sins Past is that it is easily ignored and retconned. Nobody pays attention to it so it’s been largely ignored because it’s just such a stupid story.
Is it bad? Yes
Is it worse than the clone saga(s)? Yes
Was it more damaging than other shitty stories? No
This is like pne of the best examples to show when people claim Pete isn't a chad.
Aight
I think in this issue or in this arc Peter jokes about it, how all new heroes have edgy and/or long or complicated names
>Night Thrasher
niiice
I remember hearing about that. The whole Totem thing JMS got going wad something I could bare, when he had made it was ambiguous anyway, But the kids was too much. Pete's or Norman just no. Editorial should have can the story from the get go.
>Spidey beating him is considered unrealistic and spiderwank
>that small group of Avengers dealing with him with only Hercules being near his level would've been fine
Sounds hypocritical to me
Hey, I had this issue!
The Avengers were still tired from fighting Terminus.
>Super strength
>Super agility
>Precognition
>Super strong webing
>Can stick to things
Spider-man is a giant slayer, he may not be the strongest or have the flashiest powers but he as a set of complementary powers that let him theoretically punch way above his weight class while still maintaining a sense of tension
I was also alright with the totem stuff, especially at the end of the first Morlun event when he beat him with radiation. A nice nod thrown in that Peter was made from science.
My guess is down the road when he gave Peter “The Other” power up and organic webbing, it was editorial wanting him to add organic webbing like in the movies. It was just a short lived power up in the end anyway.
The sister OC kept me from picking up his run. She was unnecessary and he wrote Peter kinda obnoxiously because his life stopped to revolve around where she was and what she was doing. Did she fuck off or die?
I didn't mind spider sister.
Peter deserves more happiness and people with unconditional love for him on his life
i argue he has a very large and diverse supporting cast built over the long history the character has been around to choose from. I'm usually fine with OC's but I never like OC's that have a 'connection' to the protagonist or to the group because it is a really disingenuous way of trying to make the OC extremely relevant not just to the narrative but to the main character in an attempt to create a long lasting impression in the mind of the fans. If the main hero is on board then why aren't you?
Like there's comes this loser out of left field claiming to have a family bond while having no real tie to a character who is known for valuing/treasuring their relationships for they are fleeting in the face of their active superhero duty so they're placed on the same pedestal as supporting cast with decades of character history. You don't bring someone out of left field and then suddenly they're on the same emotional level as, say, Mary Jane Watson without having gone through any pathos to deserve being on that level. It feels like the crutch of a weak writer to me and it doesn't help that most of the time this is portrayed in the media there's some kind of double-cross or "are they REALLY related?" cliffhanger that's just so overdone.
Peter Parker doesn't need any "long lost" family members. He has clones, friends, romances, other heroes, co-workers, students, rogues and alternate universe versions of himself to fill the "more happiness and unconditional love" you're talking about. Mystery meat OC can go and stay go. Especially when they bring nothing to the plot and Peter acts out of character whenever they're around.
why falcon is always a bitch when it comes to be around spiderman?
Because he feels intimidated around his BSC
Peter doesn't have the R-word pass
Spidey has a very large cast of likable and interesting human characters and they keep getting killed off all the time or ignored for decades. It's frustrating.
>Sue and Monica's look of disgust behind him.
That stings but seriously, he didn't really say anything offensive. Maybe it was an unnecessary comment on a tense situation but those heroes are a little too sensitive and on edge.
Falcon really shouldn't mess with him though. Spidey beats him any day of the week
How the FUCK do you little children not know that Harry was on heroin? It was such a huge deal that it killed the comics code authority. That's a big reason why the censored cartoons will never have the emotional weight of the comics
Granted. Mystery meat "I'm your family!" OC isn't going to solve that. Not on an established character with more than 50 years of printed history. Ultimate Universe Jessica Drew was a clone of Peter and that worked out nicely. Someone falling out of the sky one day? Nah, you gotta flex your narrative muscle a little harder than that if you expect me to invest time in giving a shit.
This can't be real, I mean first of all cheating for no other reason than lust is nymphomania
I miss when we had artists that were good at action scenes and not just glorified pinups on every page. You can't hire someone to draw capes based on static poses, panel to panel exhilaration is important
>I wish the celebrity voice actor meme would die
It's been this way since Aladdin buddy, Robin Williams made Disney boatloads of cash and now nobody wants to risk an animated film without a celebrity name to slap on the poster. Robin hated that it ended up that way too and tried to prevent it but Disney fucked him, he didn't want his voice to be commodified but Disney broke their promise to him
Then followed up with Harry putting on the mask, covering his stern frown with the Goblin Grin.
Kind of hightlights how alien and distant the Goblin is to how Harry actually feels and what he actually needs. It makes the it feel like a disease or virus, eating away at the original identity.
Honestly could have made it three pages, first ending with "what have I ever done to you..." then next page just a collage of Norman fucking Peter throughout history, then carry on with the story.
You mean, like this?
Notice how the writers dedicated the last 6 months of Clone Saga to make you like Ben, and Peter's life didn't resolve around Ben, but rather around dying May, pregnant MJ and their unborn child.
*revolve
When American comics get creative with their action scenes they become instant classics.
Is that page Romita? Looks like him.
>It was such a huge deal that it killed the comics code authority.
How so?
It's not been collected for some strange reason, but the main story contains

Peter goes through stressful times. He isn't always plucky. He spoke to that cop with naive conviction. Peter would do that anyday of the week for anyone if he believed in it. Doesn't matter who he has to talk down.
So what is the right question?
That was top notch issue indeed, I remember nothing else of that debacle.
I fucking hate spiders and would never let one touch me willingly but this was neat.
I can't follow the action. Nothing connects the way it should.
>Firelord is out cold!
Heh.
Writers don't give him the same rapport Steve has with Peter. Falcon is alot more raw and, all honesty, the guy doesn't have the head for talking to younger heroes. At this point it's just his personality quirk.
It was funny. She married a robot. It's weird. I expect chicks to get bent out of shape over it. And Falcon just doesn't seem to take to Peter regardless of the situation.
The clones were alot more organic than Spider-Sue materializing out of the ether.
Adding miles was a mistake
Why? Miles is shit
FFUUUCCCKKKKKKK
>tfw no Felicia friend with benefits
your asking too much of tony stark's cocksleeve
>Gwen died so this bitch got more spotlight
Damn i rewatched the Spectacular Spider-Man and FUCKING HELL, MOST OF THE TIME IN 1ST SEASON SHE IS JUST A WHORE FLIRTING WITH EVERY GUY KNOWN BY PETER!
Harry, even then it was getting old.
Pre-bite Peter was less of an incel than you
She grows up to be a model, user. She's a knockout. Of course she's going to be interested in guys.
>noooo why is a woman flirty and interested in meeennnnnn
The hyphen wasn’t even added until later anyway.
Notice how in the flashback, he has his hands on her waist, but originally, he actually holds her by the hem of her pants in completely unromantic way.
Something about this is just so damn satisfying.
He's home.
You're not wrong for wanting a Parker-focused Spider-man movie on par with Spiderverse.
But you are absolutely a fool if you think that Spider-verse isn't an amazing Spider-man film and Peter Parker story.
They're both actions done to ensure she doesn't lose her balance. What's your point?
Peter was back. As entertaining as Spock was at some points he overstayed his welcome and, honesty, Otto getting the spotlight as one of Peter's greatest arch nemesis still feels so...forced. Just the whole way it happened. I really don't look at him the same anymore and can't say that that's a good thing.
The movie is good but the spiderverse aspects are easily the worst part of then film.
Noir, Ham and Peni barely do anything and were mosly trailer bait.
Gwen was alright but the movie would be better with just Pete and Miles and maybe Gwen.
Flashback makes it look dramatic, like a homage to Titanic, while in reality, it's completely trivial and awkward.
Otto was always one of his arch nemesis, easily.
If you read all the comics through the decades, you'll see Ock is one of the guys he fought most often and he was almost always considered a big threat.
It's not forced at all, besides Slott's sloppy writing.
Why do Noir Ham and Peni have to do anything for the movie to be great. They showed up to add to the craziness of the multiverse shit and they said funny shit while the main characters were rightly focused on.
Ba-boom.
The only stupid part was Peni crying about the robot dying as if it was somehow very important. That was the only unearned moment.
I always considered Ock in Peter's top 5. But it felt like Slott was trying actively to cement him as Peter's #1 (kind of the point of the entire run, really...) and that's what I didn't like. I felt like that spot goes to Osborn. Period. Body swapping felt so gay and forced. I hate how he got in there but once he was in I didn't mind reading it. It just lasted too long for my taste. I can't see Peter losing in his own head.
>Body swapping felt so gay and forced
>Otto literally touches Peter while he desperately screams at him to stop
Gee, why would you feel that way, I wonder?
Truth be told a lot of heroes find Peter's Spider-Man persona obnoxious, Sam's just one of the few who will actively call him out on it.
I'm sure if more heroes got to know the Peter side of him they might not mind as much but unless he's a close friend, everyone else seems to merely "tolerate" him because they know they can't just swat him away. I think this was explained in a comic once.
It can be a good Spider-Man movie without being a "love letter", which it isn't
If my ex wrote me a letter but spent most of it talking about my younger cousin who she's dating at the moment, and how he's so much better than me, I wouldn't interpret it as a love letter regardless of what the rest said
This. It's more like you have to take Spider-Man as he is in-universe. He never takes his mask off, he spends most of his time planted on a wall or ceiling, he moves weird and he quips all the time which can make him off of as immature or like he's never taking the situation seriously. It can rub alot of different heroes the wrong way from fledgling start-ups to seasoned veterans. I don't think Falcon has even been in the same room with Peter and struck up a genuine conversation.
Coming Home was a great little story. Inb4 REEEEE SPIDER TOTEM
>cement him as Peter's #1
Yes, and no, perhaps?
Slott may have had to make people drink the stupid water to get the story done but in the end he knew what was up. It took Stormin' Norman to beat the superiority that was Spider-Man, and when it all came down, SpOck folded like a bad hand and let Peter take the reigns.
>perfect thread
>Spidey-boy
Pick one
I want to post great moments that aren't Peter letting loose.
On the other hand seeing Peter just go all rage is super cathartic.
Couldn't have put it better myself. His closest allies are only those who know both sides of him. I want to find that page now where he reveals his face to F4 after the memory wipe, I love that page.
The CCA didn't put their stamp on the comic, and it sold well. Everyone realized they were a paper tiger which kicked off the Bronze Age
Can he do that? How stronk is spidey?
This is New Ways to Die or something about Menace? It's definitely that era right?
Jesus, quiet Spider-Man in his red and blue suit is so terrifying.
Who has the edit? I don't want to feel sad
American Son, so sort of.
Middle of Dark Reign.
These thanks to Silverage storyimer.
These pages are just neat.
Actually Doc Ock was a bit of a let down but completions sake
Has seriously no one posted If This Be My Destiny yet?
Because the comics have been complete dog shit since the 90s. The only well written Spider Man you'll get this day and age is in TV and film and even that's a crapshoot most of the time.
We know user, we know.
That's why Mary Whore will never be the one, despite the seething and over insistence of fags and editorial.
Why didnt peter just tell everyone harry is the green goblin then whatever harry says would just be seen as the ramblings of a madman
Chills everytime I read this. Thanks man.
That's what happens first couple of times round.
I guess the threat is that he'll set something up.
Noir, Ham, and Peni are just there to be fun side-characters and they achieve that purpose with flying colors.
The autism sometimes regarding Mary Jane is astonishing.
>Fucking Normie REEEEEEEEEEEEE
Well, thing is heralds have basically unlimited endurance AND that was a robot (ex)herald.
I'm as big a spider-fan as they come, but it would be much more realistic for him to beat Thor like this than Fire-Walker.
>Out of the ether
Pete's parents disappeared together on assignment decades ago, working deep undercover and no one, to this day, really has any idea what they were up to.
I've been waiting for a spider-sibling to show up since the early 80s. I expected a Russian one, since the parents worked for the commie Skull. So a Widow and Spider-Man.
I've never loved the spy-parents angle, but if it was going to be true, it's always seemed odd as fuck that we had to wait 30 years for a spider-sibling.
How has no one posted the page of him coming into the window of a hospital and making quips? That's probably the best single moment in the character's entire history.
Substantially stronger than that.
Spider-man's strength varies even more than Superman's. Pete's strength has ranged from having trouble moving regular cars, to lifting trains and acting as the landing gear for an airplane, differences from a couple of tons with difficulty to hundreds of tons with relative ease depending on the writer or situation. On average, yes, he could anchor a helicopter.
Who would you want to see doing the acting? I would get Christopher Daniel Barnes back to play Spider-Man.
Isn't that because Peter holds back like the panel you posted says? People have said he can solo most of the Marvel universe if he got serious.
>that subtle homage to it in Spider Man PS4
Really?
If that's true then why the hell is Abattoir still dead?
Yes and no. Some versions or even some stories within the canon tend to forget about it in order to keep him closer to street level when he should be top five strongest Earth Avengers.
>subtle
I thought it was subtle given the context
Tired to find it; this was the closest I found.
Shit I'd be down for Christopher to being back behind the mic. His voice has always been perfect l, to me anyway, for a more mature Peter in his late 20s early 30's. He got the emotional range to do a lot of the high spots in the arc. Need to get a good director to have him dail it back too. The guy can get a bit hammy lol.
>MJ aka tony's cumbucket
ftfy
And it continues I see.
That’s not Spiderman at Green Goblins death bed is it?
Wow you're impressively wrong
c-c-c-c-combobreaker
brettygud
>Him crawling in the background.
On the other side, we have moments like this.
Absolute fucking kino user.
this was a good one, thanks for posting
That was his 2nd appearance.
So you’re impressively wrong jackass
Spider-totem sucks, but coming home is still a great story.
>top 5
He's no where near Power Man, She Hulk, Namor, Hulk or the other real heavy hitters. Peter is good. He isn't "top 5" good.
I'm starting to see why some content creators leave relationships between the character's to the interpretation/imagination of the viewer/reader. The "purity" of a character being compromised by teenage hormones and the like hurts their credibility down the line for some people. Seeing the "one and only" that's going to hook up with the hero and be happy anyway having a romantic life outside of the hero before they even meet is sometimes too much of a taboo.
Why hasn't Marvel Japan let manga authors make harem manga about Spidey in that case?
Wasn't this guy in the archie sonic comics? He look familiar.
Spider-Men 2, Ultimate Riri is in it though
I was never a fan of the "spy parents" angle. I felt like it took credibility away from Peter as the nerdy kid. He doesn't need his parents to have a bombastic origin filled with heroism as an "Oh! That's where Peter gets it from!" with them having ties to Osborn or some of the members who are going to comprise Peter's most deadliest rogues later in life. It's just so contrived. I don't mind alternate universes and adaptations attempting it because experimental ideas and shifts in canon is exactly what those are build for but none of the attempts really move the needle for me.
I'm such a fucking mark for CDB. To this day he stands at the top of my boat for Peter's voice. He's strong, masculine and full of emotion. Never really liked Peter being nerdy and light-in-the-ass though it makes sense for his age. He's really fantastic and hasn't lost a step. And the guy from Young Justice who voices Speedy sounds just fucking like him. If CDB is too expensive someone could always just grab the other guy as an alternative.
There was a western equivalent that was pretty popular here. I think it was called...oh god the only memory I'm getting is "Bitches Love Spider-Man". Peter had a brown waifu and a really good dynamic with her and the other women in the comic. It was more light-hearted than the standard continuity and stood out for having decent writing for most of the run.
But a slice of life harem thing would work with Peter. If Sana Amanat really wants to push this retarded "Marvel Comics as a brand" then I imagine slice of life comics like Ms. Marvel where fucking NOTHING INTERESTING EVER happens or sticks would be the next logical step.
You mean Spider Man Loves Mary Jane?
Crispin Freeman was Speedy's voice in Young Justice, his VA history with the wall crawler includes being Electro in Spectacular and he's Mysterio and Spot in Disney Spider Man 2017.
I was thinking it was "Mary Jane Loves Spider-Man" and I knew it wasn't right in my head so I didn't say it. Yes! That's it, user! Thank you so much.
Is Yuri Lowenthal a good Spidey?
What the hell is the context of this?
Hah! Small world, right? Imagine that. He would absolutely kill as Parker. I've held up Christopher Daniel Barnes as the standard for Peter's voice because it was just so dynamic. He had a great range for emotion and hamming up the performance really solidified the drama happening. Which is what was needed since The Animated Series from the 90s was censored to hell and back. I never even noticed all of the hoops that writers and producers had to jump through. Christopher Daniel Barnes kept me sold on returning each afternoon.
To this day no one can do a "Mary-JAAAANNNNNEE!!" like that man can. He made you feel the panic Peter was facing.
Yuri Lowenthal is exceptional in just about every role I've heard him in. I liked him alot in the PS4 game...that I just realized I've never completed nor played the DLC more. Oh man.
Not really a moment that fits the criteria for the rest of the thread. I just like Peter comforting people. Even when the rug is pulled out from under him and he's out of his depth. He still tries to reassure others.
CDB is still the voice I read Peter with comic wise so agreed 100%. Just wish he'd come back somehow for anything Spider Man related due to it being nearly a decade since he voiced Miguel in Edge of Time.
GET BACK HERE SHOCKER
>not finishing the game when it's been praised as one of the best Spidey experiences of all time with Yuri's performance in it being at its best in the finale
>not playing the DLC now that there are 3 free movie suits along with it setting up more sequel hooks for an even better game
Get back on the game now.
>movie suits
Oooh my god. Dude, as great as the alternate suits was I kept flip flopping between them and the Original. It just looked *so fucking good* seeing Spider-Man in the classic duds.
I really, really like Edge of Time. I liked Web of Shadows, too. He voiced Spider-Man Noir in that game. God, that and the grittier atmosphere really made the Noirverse stand out for me. Great games. Great power. Great responsibility. Great Spider-Man thread.
I ended up loving the Advanced/PS4 suit the most, but web-swinging with the classic duds just felt so right. Raimi-suit gives me a huge nostalgia boner though.
Oh god that is beautiful. I can have this game in a week's time. I can't wait.
He did get to voice black suit spidey and SpOck in the now defunct Marvel Heroes game.
Lowenthal is always sub-par for me. He just does a regular voice it seems. His acting isn't great either.
