>Watch seasons 1-2, they have plenty of heart and are the best, don't listen to the plebs who say "skip to 3"
I will never understand season 1&2 fags. Those seasons are mostly boring and not too funny compared to 3-8, and if I'm a pleb for saying that so be it.
>Muh zany humor ruined serious simpsons with heart
Just watch a sitcom if you want "realistic" dramedy. Animation should be able to bend the rules and do things you can't do in live action.
They're pretty dry because James L. Brooks dominated the show's creative direction and he loves his dark melodrama plots. It did definitely get funnier after Jean and Reiss took over.
John Murphy
The truth is the overall quality of all early simpsons seasons are good and people just like splitting hairs. The show didn’t take a noticeable turn in quality until the few seasons that came out before the movie. The “do it for her” episode came out in the mid 90s.
Dominic Phillips
>The show didn’t take a noticeable turn in quality until the few seasons that came out before the movie. >The show didn't go downhill till 2007 I can tell you're a zoomer. Consensus has it the show began declining at season 9, worsened at season 10, and by season 11 (2000) it was fully a different show with Homer killing maude, jockey elves, and Kid rock.
Cameron Torres
I agree that the first couple of season are far from the cream of the crop but a real man doesn't skip episodes. Skipping is 100% pleb, regardless of quality.
Isaiah Phillips
If it's boring skipping it is justified
Ryan Jenkins
It only gets good at season 11
Austin Wood
Dead Homer Society admin plz go.
Ayden Gonzalez
>don't listen to the plebs who say "skip to 3" that's when it really started getting good. why the fuck would people say that?
Jack Ortiz
Season one and two do suck. A real far cry from the Tracey Ullman shorts where both Bart and Lisa were asshole kids that were fun to watch. Now that I think of it, the shorts were the best. Skip watching the show altogether and just watch the shorts if you want to laugh.
Austin Diaz
Nothing tops Homer at the Bat for me. You only move once comes close.
Jayden Flores
I get your complaint with S1 but there's literally nothing wrong with S2. It's one of the strongest seasons IMO.
Dominic Foster
skipfags are the worst. anyone who regards them are fucking automatons
Jace Sanders
TRUTH: Seasons 1&2 are unironically the best simpsons and had SOUL comedy and surrealism of the later seasons ruined the series
Charles Walker
>I'm just going to repeat whatever opinion I heared
Maybe just skip the entire show altogether and read Life is Hell. After Groening decided "lol i'm gonna make this stupid family a show instead of my rabbits" that's when he sold out.
David Rivera
1 and 2 are alright, then it gets great until it starts going downhill at season 7, 8 max
Robert Gray
What does "skipping" even mean in this context? They aired on TV, we already watched them. Are people supposed to start from season 1 episode 1 every time they feel like watching The Simpsons?
Aaron Robinson
Skipping is for faggots. 1 and 2 are just the show finding its feet, uncertain of exactly how it should progress. It then went in a more comedic direction, which to its credit worked brilliantly, but that early Simpsons is still fantastic in its own right. You just have a perception of how the characters are 'supposed' to act and how episodes are 'supposed' to be. If you had grown up watching the series as it came out, it would be a different story entirely.
contrarian faggots it did change and get shit around those seasons
Ryan Jenkins
They’re still better than the meme seasons 4-10. You can really notice the drop of quality after the original writers left in S5.
Adam Roberts
Not that user, but I’m 34, and rewatching episodes as an adult, you can notice the decline since S5, jokes that last way too long, too many Baby boomers movies references. However, the biggest change in tone is around S13-14.
Dylan Powell
Nah, Life is Hell is just autism. When Groening collabs, the autism is kept at bay.
Harry Shearer feels the same way. A lot of people attribute that to David Mirkin coming aboard and bringing in elements of Get A Life to the show.
Then again, Homer doesn't really start to act like Chris Peterson until the Scully years, when he gets REALLY stupid and starts getting new jobs all the time.
Charles Walker
has chris elliot ever been on the simpsons?
what's he even up to now
last thing i saw him in was a crappy adult swim show in which he discovers that chinese people are a hoax
that avant garde shit was great in the 1990s when nothing mattered, but shit's too real now for me to mess with that
Ryder Brown
>I'm onto you, you sneedy chuck
Thomas Gomez
>"everything that makes this a cartoon: I hate it" God, I didn't think it was possible to hate Groening as much as I hate him now after watching this.
Jaxson Thomas
>people are still posting sneed I stopped a year ago. It's either people with nothing to do in their lives or newfags. Considering how I've seen sneedposters advertise their discords on Yea Forums it's most likely the ladder.
