I like that Zack skipped two updates in a row despite changing to weekly updates.

I remember reading this in its first chapter thinking it had some of the best background art out of any webcomic by the second chapter around at the time and always eagerly awaiting each new chapter. Now it's, this.

Attached: 1559288885-Ch6Pg23small.png (755x1122, 557K)

Pretty sure you (and everyone who makes these retarded look-how-much-that-guy-makes-on-Patreon posts) has never had a real job. $1,770 a month is barely a living wage in the US. There are tons of people out there who contribute far less to society than a bad webcomic and make much more. Basically no one on Patreon is making any real money. Zack's entire fanbase value him about as much as Walmart value a single employee. You'd have to be an actual NEET if that makes you upset.

>You'd have to be an actual NEET if that makes you upset.
But user, where do you think you are?

i was literally just on their website
are you stalking me OP

I see someone got a new way to hide her identity.

You've been following this comic for 8 years, Yea Forums.
It's time to let go.

>The Activity Club & The Final Hole (Illustrated Edition!)
>Posted June 21, 2019 at 03:35 am
>*EDIT* Hey guys, I ended up needing time to heal from some work strain, so there won't be an update this week. Thank you very much for your patience, and thank you for supporting my work by buying the illustrated short story! It's been a huge, huge boost.

>Hey all! To give my wrists a bit of a break, I decided to finish up a side project instead of doing a normal update this week... thank you for your patience! But hey, check this thing out! I made an illustrated version of the mini-golf-centric Paranatural side story I wrote a few months back!!! You can buy it here, on Gumroad! It's basically a whole Paranatural chapter in its own right, full of the Activity Club being friends and funny. If you haven't read it yet, or if you want to see your favorite moments as pretty colorful drawings, please consider picking up a copy! As always, I could really use the support. If this thing does well, I definitely want to do more stories in the illustrated prose format... I hope that's something that's as exciting for you as it is for me.

>Anyways, that's all for now! Here's the Gumroad link one more time. Thanks for reading, and thanks for your support!

He's gone full evil capitalist at this point. He's publishing an inferior comic with shit no one cares about while making people who want the original cast pay extra to see them.

When was the last time this comic was good anyways? The Dodgeball game?

imagine only updating once a week, having that as your only job but still not being able to push out anything better than this shit
i've seen high school essays with more passion than current pnat

Attached: 1450459969950.jpg (500x365, 57K)

>implying he deserves even that much

This comic is still going? Even with the decline from Hacks wrist issues?
Also, who thought that anyone needed to spend this much time on this kid? The weird radio host romance is also not hitting.

Dropped it at the dodgeball game, glad to hear that I haven't been missing anything good.

Oh right, this is still happening

He just doesnt want to write this anymore. It shows. Theres no more passion, the story is bland, the art is flat and soul less. Doesnt want to wrap it up or do something else because steady pay cheque.

1700 a month is plenty to live on. As long as you're not in one of the shit cities. Live in the burbs or whatever.

I miss old Paranatural

Attached: 1523875592482.jpg (712x692, 52K)

I miss the excitement we had when it first started and everyone was like 'It's like Earthbound meets Shaman King!'

>Zack won
>the comic is now unpalatable

Why is wrist pain such a big issue for so many webcomic artists? It's 2019 and ergonomics isn't some esoteric secret. Just have a good chair and sit up straight, maybe stretch every hour or so. FFS.

Yeah man, that's why I said 'barely.' I'm still 100% convinced that everyone who complains about Patreonbux has no idea what a real wage looks like. The person who wrote your most hated non-digital comic got paid much more.

Reminder that in 2 months, it'll officially have been a year since we saw the actual main characters.

What happened to this comic? I remember reading it when it was first coming out and thinking it was great - strong characters, fun world, intriguing plot, pretty funny... then it suddenly just dropped off everyone's radar, and all the things I see from it barely resemble the humorous and sometimes spooky supernatural team dynamics mystery it once was.

tldr version
it quickly got popular for those reasons
the creator was clearly a person who cant keep a schedule
ow my hand, we need another hiatus
man, those Yea Forums guys sure do suck, im going to make them angrah
hey guys, i know iv constantly been doing hiatus' but we're going on a multi month one i totes need brah

literally no one cared when it came back, this is the second thread iv seen since its return

>suddenly just dropped off everyone's radar
That happened more recently. There's been threads for nearly every update, but halfway through Chapter 5 (a few years ago, holy shit), it was more gawking at the downward spiral the comic had taken in terms of art, writing, and pacing. Then after several months of hiatus, it came back with a new chapter focusing on a character no one gives a shit about and it switched to one update a week.

Attached: 1462831514437.jpg (500x500, 72K)

and id add in a little less tldr ness, mid september last year is when he went on a hiatus until january first. thats the quickest way to fuck your brand, no matter the media. at that point, people already didnt give a fuck since the shittiest chapter was over 50% of the entire comic

he was late coming back from that by 2 days still

>lel the hosts might be gay uwu sugoi
Does this comic have so little substance anymore that Zack feels the need to shove in homosexuality to make up for it?

Attached: file.png (618x1199, 616K)

>homosexuality
Are they? One's some sort of Moth Otherkin, the others either an actual genetically modified Gorilla, or a plain old philosophy professor Furry. I don't think even tumblr has a sexuality name to describe this pairing.

I get that the amount of detail per page declined because drawing constantly is hard and not for everyone, but why the change of color pallet?
These washed out pastel colors look so bland and ugly.

Attached: hello darkness my old friend.jpg (766x960, 42K)

Honestly I think the problem is that Zack stopped being inspired by mango and animu and started getting inspired by other webcomics made by people in his Twitter clique, and most of them just really aren't that good and feature similarly bland art styles.

A lot of them don’t stretch or exercise. Weak wrists and poor habits.

Be honest, Yea Forums. Do you think he should quit?

Part of me says no since I like watching a trainwreck.

You’re missing the point. That’s a lot of money for a webcomic to make. Only a handful make more. You have to look at it in comparison to others and understand just how many people are giving it money and how much it’s making a month despite the dip in quality and numerous dropped updates. If this was a real job he would’ve been fired years ago.

I don't even care anymore. I keep forgetting this comic until Yea Forums makes a thread of it.

this is ripped off from Egoraptor

I know its a lot to ask, but id actually like to the see the end of a webcomic I once loved.

Professional artist here, there's no excuse for it. An artist invested in their own health will learn to draw with their shoulder not their wrist, learn to not press down on their tablet so damn hard, and crack and stretch out their wrist often.

That would take decades at the current pace

On a scale of yes to no. Yes.

Just have him type out the overall plot and the plans he had for each character.

The dodgeball game was around when things got awful.

The moment of decline was the loss of Eightfold.

The dodgeball game was probably one of the best parts in the comic. Too bad that shortly after that it went down the shitter.

The bad art wouldn't even be such an issue if Zack actually updated his fucking comic.

Oh wait, that’s so he can walk around in the daylight, huh?

Why is he being accosted by Jerma985?

Did you go to any kind of school or academy for your artistic training? If so, were those "best practices" taught to you formally during classes, informally by shooting the shit with instructors or self-taught?

I'm getting a 4-year degree in graphic design and all of my instructors harp on us to maintain best practices to avoid physical and mental exhaustion. Keeping a clean work area, brainstorming/word-listing/process-booking to generate creativity, basic ergonomics, all kinds of stuff that so many of my favorite webcartoonists just can't help but fail at. FFS, it's not that fucking hard.

Well Zach DID say he wanted to make the comic so that Yea Forums wouldn't like it.
Turns out that was by making it shit.

I did. And yeah, it was stuff that was drilled into us at school. Many of the teachers I had would tell us that if we're serious about getting a career in art, we need to do this kind of stuff to avoid burnout or hurting ourselves.

Is Cody cute?

Don't know. Post the rest so I can tell.

i.imgur.com/gTLSmU1.jpg

Hm yes that's cute

this is more than decent wage where I live. It got me thinking. Should I bother starting a webcomic? People always say it's too late to get any profit from it but if mediocre comics like these can get that amount it seems worth a shot

Fuck no. Webcomics is probably the worst thing to try to make a living off of. It's oversaturated and you'd have to spend more time promoting yourself. You're better off just doing furry commissions. Paranatural has been going for several years and drew in people with the art and world and humor. One thing that can be said is that a webcomic's hardcore fanbase will stick with it and support it but getting to that point is practically impossible these days. You'd need one hell of a hook in either the art or the writing to be successful.

>Namekball was one of the best parts of the comic
Is this bizarro Yea Forums?
Granted, hitball seems to be leagues better compared to the shit that's coming out now.

This. Building up a webcomic readership is tough shit. Paranatural only gets 1k+ a month because Zach's been working on it for years, and there was a long time where he did actually put in tons of effort into the comic, where he gained a lot of his current fanbase. For as much as the webcomic's declined, Paranatural was very well written and drawn up until maybe Hitball, I really doubt you have the skill or dedication to make something on the same level.
If you really just want to make easy money off your art, draw porn of FOTM waifus and take up smut commissions.

>Art school teaches you how to avoid burnout
Be honest, Yea Forums. How many of your favorite webcartoonists or independent animators could benefit from this kind of professional instruction?

There was a period where this was one of the best webcomics. Now I don't even care to know how it ends.

>Namekball
Maybe it's because of the terrible pace that updates have been coming ever since, but I don't recall the game being that slow.

I re-read it recently and it felt way shorter than I remembered. Tons of jokes during the first half and well-paced action for the second. This also was before the art went to shit, so that's a plus.

>it felt way shorter than i remembered
someone post the pie chart

>If you really just want to make easy money off your art, draw porn of FOTM waifus and take up smut commissions.
I always feel like this is a bit of a monkey paw, because I swear every time an artist starts drawing porn, their fanbases never allow them to do anything else. You can get into the money pool of drawing lewds but you can never leave.
Same here man. I only read this comic anymore when a thread gets posted here, but even that doesn't happen very often anymore. I haven't read in weeks or months but I know I missed absolutely fucking nothing.

>Wrist made of paper mache
>Art quality is reduced to chicken scratches
>Missed every other update for years
>Goes on a hiatus
>Does jack all to lighten his workload during that period
>Started to update once a week
>Somehow still misses updates
>Somehow still has the time for side projects

8 months for a 1 hour period

Does he have some genetical desease like brittle bones or some shit? i can understand artists like Quietly getting injured from their drawings eventualy since he has such detailed art and has alraedy pumped out thousands of pages.

But this author has really fucking simple art and has barely done a fraction of the work most professionals put in. What's the deal?

Attached: file.png (790x1200, 918K)

>I always feel like this is a bit of a monkey paw, because I swear every time an artist starts drawing porn, their fanbases never allow them to do anything else. You can get into the money pool of drawing lewds but you can never leave.
I'm going to share with you a secret. Draw porn and get people to flock to you and then start making some OC stuff alongside the porn and get people who have come for the porn to stay for the OC stuff. But don't pull a Herny and show disregard for your porn because you're burned out on it. And don't separate the OC stuff with the porn. Like it or not but use it as a crutch. Do what you love. But if you want to make money off your art then you have to treat your fans like customers and give them what they want. Offer some side stuff and hope to expand. Just think of all the businesses that dropped/changed their staple products or services.

Probably drawing like an asshole. He might have the sensitivity of his tablet cranked way too low and he's pressing real hard on it or something. Who knows.

C'mon user, you know how webcomics work. That's not a good way to measure quality, you can do better than this.

Fuck off hater.

Noted.
I remember thinking back then that the climax of the chapter was coming soon. Jesus was I wrong.

who?

original wristposter here, zach has genuinely impressed me by how he managed to bore me to the point where i didn't even check for threads for the past 5-6 updates (if there even were any) after like 5 years of missing no threads
paranatural is such a complete black hole of disinterest that it's not even fun to make fun of anymore
the wrist has gone limp

The last thing I remember really enjoying was the page where Lucifer tears Spender a new one, but beyond that is all kind of a blur.

Attached: 8D6BCA36-714A-4D8E-892A-FE7613A7B41B.gif (500x282, 1.96M)

reminder the SSSS artist taught herself how to draw left handed to lessen the burden on her right wrist and to have a backup plan in case shit ever hit the fan
also, takes a wrist break every hour, at least on streams

species disphoria and homozoosexuality
how long have you been here? tumblr's bullshit should have rubbed onto you enough to make this shit up on the fly by now, even if only through /pol/ as parroting vector

The punchline he did with one of the hosts turning out to be gay for the other would've been fine if they hadn't far outstayed their fucking welcome by then and somehow they're still not gone

It would be funnier if the radio show was a recurring background thing throughout the whole comic and their story and relationship would constantly develop off-screen to increasingly outlandish heights.

Yeah but when their entire purpose is to narrate a ridiculously drawn out scene featuring a character nobody gives a shit about with no connection to the rest of the plot so far it's kind of hard not to dislike them.

i dropped this comic right after Cody's vampires and ghosts pages, after that i've forgotten about mostly about it. it still holds a special place in my heart for the shits and giggles of the early days, at least i don't seethe its existence like i do with sinfest, one which felt like a punch in the face being a longtime fan, even as a POC i find it ridiculous or stupid beyond reason.

if paranatural ever has an ending ill gladly give it a full read trough, just to sate my curiosity and see it all ends, even if i like it or not. which is being optimistic considering most web-comics one way or another end up in hiatus hell, eventually even long run ones. if its true as some anons say and it seems zach is loosing interest and ideas in his own work then an indefinite hiatus isn't far off

Attached: 2013-07-15.gif (740x250, 59K)

i don't recognize this comic anymore

Attached: 1562719837781.png (1158x1324, 3.73M)

>that time when Forge was actually threatening and the story seemed to be moving to a definite goal
and then dodgeball hell happened

Attached: 1553592996230.png (862x769, 214K)

The final straw for me was the guy kicking the dog for having no coding skills.
It rather illustrated that the author is a moron.

>barely anything has happened since then and Chapter 5 was only used to introduce even MORE characters in a slow-updating comic and also painful teenager drama which shitty writers think is character development

You'd probably be better off selfpublishing the story as a book, honestly.
