Movie MJ story arc was pretty good on the first movie, and ends up in a realistic way with Peter leaving her for the sake of her security, but then it comes the Spider-man 2 where in a big part of the movie she states firmly that she doesn't love Peter and is about to get married with JJJ's son, but then at the end of the movie after discovering that Peter is Spiderman, instead of realising why Peter didn't wanted anything with her and marring with the other guy, she just leaves him at the altar and goes to Peter's house.

Gwen's arc in AMZSPM is just to be her romatic interest despite her father's last wish, because Peter tolds her directly he is Spiderman, and both continue their relationship based on the love they have for eachother, wich eventually leads to her death and Peter learning the hard truth about being a super hero by not following Captain Stacy's last wish.

Basicaly:
movie MJ: half-baked romance and irrealistical conclusion that makes her look bad for leaving another man at the altar while constantly whinning about she doesn't love Peter and is going to get married.

movie Gwen: a impossible romance that tried to flourish despite the cost that implied, leading to the tragic death of Gwen by the hand of the man she loved.
