Not one soul in this thread hates boobs nor cheescake. The problem with cheesecake is that it all too often comes at the expense of good storytelling and characterization. It's also just plain cringey to see the sheer unadulterated juvenile lust of alleged adults oozing off the page. Expressing one's sexuality is often healthy and fun, but not when you're immature or creepy about it.

And as is typical for Lobdell, this story is pedestrian, at best. It's hard to care about what's going on when the writer doesn;t really give a shit about what's going on. This whole set up is a transparent excuse to have a bunch of attractive women in their underwear, and it leads to a story that's frankly quite boring, and reminding the audience that they'd be much better off reading a porno book.

Hell, I say that, but there actually ARE porn comics with better stories than anything Lobdell could ever hope to put out. So please, consider getting some taste.

Because he's one of the only writers left whose name has power, they specifically poached him and offered him a huge contract. Plus he's friends with everyone and has gotten many people their jobs. Your influence in the industry isn't limited to one company, all these people interact and usually cross back and forth between the companies.

Boredom and morbid curiosity. Frankly, it's not outright shit so far, just kind of meh. There are elements of it that I like.

A boring protagonist is, in my opinion, one of the worst mistakes a writer can ever make. This is the character we are stuck with for the entire story. If the main character is not interesting, why are we focusing in them?

All I read today was Second Coming, I grabbed the last copy and was shocked that my store ordered it, and it rules. It avoided the pitfall a lot of those high concept first issues fall into where the first issue is just stating the premise imo. The character work was much stronger than I expected. And for some reason I thought Not-Superman was gonna be an asshole.

Also interested in whatever the Austerity Gospel is cause it’s a great title

Just read Future Quest + Tie-Ins.
Great book, probably the best thing I've read these past few months. The art and writing there were top-notch, they have mad science, giant robots, extra-dimensional monsters and Space Ghost!
Herculoids, Mightor, Birdman and Space Ghosts stories were awesome.

Also, I can not believe Brak killed half of the Hanna-Barbera cast by accident.

Yeah, Future Quest was great, and was definately one of the reasons this thread was pulling for Jeff Parker writing the Legion.
