The MCU cast is so vastly superior to the previous Spider-Man supporting casts its not even funny. Before you had angsty Harry, bland Mary Jane trying to cuck Peter and Harry both, vanilla "sweet (super) old Aunt May and an admittedly awesome JJJ. Flash was a big nothingburger, like Uncle Ben used once for a point and then done.

Now that Simmons is back as JJJ, there's just no comparison.

It was a recurring plot point in Spider-Man that Aunt May would leave a window open or something and be dying in the hospital.

The way I read it somewhere is that it was originally a mistake, with the artist thinking he'd read great-aunt and so drawing a really old lady. And then after he was finished with the first two issues or whatever they felt it was too late to correct the mistake.

I liked the part in the Amazing movie where Flash hears about Uncle Ben's death and actually tries to comfort Peter, and how he doesn't even react when Peter lashes out because he understands. Such a small scene made a world of difference to me.
