is this your first time reading? Because they both get a pretty good scene together later on and kill a major baddie.
I started watching the show at least three years before I got into the comics, so it holds a weird place in my heart because it's what introduced me to the series. But pretty much as soon as I got caught up on the comics I realized it was way better than the show. The show is a totally different entity at this point. I honestly think if Kirkman didn't make loads of $$$ he'd probably despise AMC, but money talks and bullshit walks so he laughs all the way to the bank while they butcher his work and milk it for what it's worth (one spin-off, another in the works and 3 movies coming soon).

The actor that plays Negan doesn’t really bother me in general, but his delivery doesn’t really line up with how I read Negan in the comics. It was jarring when I looked it up earlier. Apparently Henry Rollins auditioned for the role also.

Honestly, Negan isn't made for cable. This probably comes across as really nitpicky, but I think it's essential for Negan to be a potty mouth and say fuck all the time like in the comics. It's sorta his signature thing along with Lucille.

Yeah that is an odd choice because a lot of his panels in the comic are him leaning forward, assertive and upright, looking at the audience. I also read him as shouting at all times cause he is so fucking stoked. TV Negan was whispering. He should never whisper.

After Season 5 I wait until the entire season is released then watch it.
It makes it a little less irritating to deal with, for me at least. Season 8 was a real chore to get through. Season 9 was a decent resuscitation but I feel the decision to move Gimple was made far too late. The show bled out too many crucial actors.

Technically two of them were while Kang was showrunner, but they had already decided they were leaving before the move. Michonne leaving is also going to be shitty. Also after Maggie left Tara was made de facto leader of Hilltop, then she got the pike. They're not having good luck at that place.
For now it's going to be Daryl, Carol, Negan and maybe Ezekiel as the big figures. I don't remember who is leading Hilltop now that Tara is gone.

The Rick movies are expected to span across 3 films, so my HOPE is AMC plays it smart and at least makes some attempt at recreating Rick's final arc at Commonwealth. Michonne and Maggie make appearances, and it wraps up in the final film by connecting to the show when Judith shows up there and sees his statue or some shit. I just want them to connect the two in some way and have Judith at least take comic Carl's role by carrying on the Grimes legacy, rather than it dying with Rick off screen from his family.

For the most part I'm enjoying the adaptation of the Whisperer arc on the show, it's really the best the show has been in years, but leaving out the rapes was a really weak decision. It's an integral part of why Carl/Henry makes the decision he does to get involved with trying to save Lydi, and really shows how fucked up this group of savages is, adding a ton of tragic baggage to Lydia's character

I really don't see them going with that arc to be honest. Negan has already had his moment of getting free of his cell and then coming back, so to just have it happen again would seem redundant. Clearly they've been mixing the shit out of his storyline since he's already had his big "kill me" confrontation with Maggie, so I feel like anything is game at this point since we've completely derailed from his comic counterpart. Plus, I imagine they would want to keep Alpha around and build her up more as a villain. You can tell the show has been holding its characters pretty close to the chest recently since all the main actors started leaving. Rick gone, Maggie gone, Michonne done in a few episodes into the next season. The pike scene was pretty soft for that reason. I don't think they can afford a big shock death of killing off their next big bad. I think this next season in particular is really going to split in a different path from the comics.
