For example his reason to protect Athena was his severe Oedipus complex. The villains were more than 'I am generic god who hates humans', Fudo, Harbinger, Kiki, Genbu were great.
Athena and Seiya's eye fucktery finally found a resolution and it was implied Omega was the continuation of the Overture movies with Athena killing all the olimpian gods.

The cloth designs that couldn't get myth cloths (even with simple lines they easily could still have designed them as armor), removing most of the core cast of the original series during the entire first year, Omega-only games and SS-only games, rather than just throwing Omega character in SS games...
The whole thing was stupid and unnecessarily crippled the show. It's too late now, but it all easily could have been avoided.

Kouga loved Saori as a mother, had an Oedipus complex, blushing when ever he got cheesy with her, learned to be less impulsive, his friends got the POWER of FRIENDSHIP, but were flawed enough to give each other the middle finger in the first season after that they matured enough in the second one. Kouga was brave enough, but didn't need to shout his opinions like Tenma or Seiya. I am not saying he is perfect, his character could had been better, but he isn't bland.

Mars had his own motivations outside of Kill the saints, Titan was a pretty decent character even apologizing for calling Harbinger a brute, Saturn as well. Mars daughter was a very tragic character.
