I'll give them credit for just flat out admitting that it's an entirely new interpretation of the character, as opposed to most other movies which try to put a smokescreen of vapid references to pretend they're accurate to the comics when they really didn't even try.

A lot of really good comics have come from completely reimagining characters that were previously trite and shallow, so why not a movie?
