It's pretty weird to me that they're essentially selling you a brand name and nothing else and people just accept it. "Here's this thing we made, we slapped a sticker on it with the name of something you know, buy it" and it just works.

The Joker Movie aimes to be Taxi Driver and Dog Day Afternoon.

It's a shame that that's the angle they're going for with a standalone Joker movie. No flamboyant super crime, just a serial killer who dresses like a clown. That's exactly the kind of shit that put me off of Nolan's movies.

The Joker has always been a colorful mob boss or hitman with a clown motif. A lot of his crimes were pretty much assault, battery, vandalism, and murder.

If they actually had him as a mob boss I wouldn't mind it. But this just seems like a Taxi Driver knock-off.

If you wanna split hairs on it, Joker originally was just a jewel thief who murdered people to cover up his heists.

Do you know simple logic about characters? The jokers in movies, animations, games, etc. has been using comic book adaptations of the respective timeline or aspect of the character about everytime he has appeared in large media.

This is THE fucking movie. The Joker has to be or at least adapt what he originally is/was. Large deviations from it just won't have it as THE character. But what do I fucking know. Venom was a toxic trash movie and this movie'll probably get a billion emmys and oscars simply for a decent color palette and "au-" I mean "artistic" shooting.

The problem here is, this movie was cheaply made, and aimed towards a much older audience, they couldn’t do any of those things if they made it comic accurate because then they would NEED Batman, and you’re crazy if you think WB will make an R rated Batman movie.

Well, yeah, it won't be like comics, it's a movie. None of the movies that claimed to be "for the fans" were for the fans, it was always a damage control.

To compare, original Superman movie and Man of Steel are both nothing like comics, but one is loved while other is hated. It's because former is a good movie and latter is a Zack Snyder movie, two natural opposites.
