>Flash is supposed to be a physically threatening Chad Is he? Let's look at his early 616 characterization shall we? >never attacks Peter physically, it's just "puny Parker lmao", which Peter constantly talks back to >loses his girlfriend to Peter despite Peter not even trying >said girlfriend constantly shit talks him and not only does he take it, he apologizes to her >secretly admires Peter without knowing it >once decides to disguise himself as Spider-Man, gets immediately captured, unmasked and cries for help >gets tired of Peter's backsass and finally decides to confront him physically, but gets one-punch KOd by his bullying victim in front of the whole school >is actually named Eugene like a fucking dork I know people on 4chins have this weird Stockholm syndrome where they think bullies are super cool, but that's not who Flash was. He was a character you're supposed to laugh at. Because Ditko was a fucking nerd who undoubtedly got bullied and used Spider-Man as a way to get back to his bully.
And I understand that he eventually got further development that made him sympathetic and had him grow into a likable character, but pretending that's who he was during Peter's high school years is revisionism.
>>Flash is supposed to be a physically threatening Chad Wasn't that Ultimate Flash?
Jaxon Hernandez
He was slightly taller than Peter, who is usually portrayed as average height for a normal but on the shorter end of superheroes.
Wyatt Foster
That's possible, I dropped comics during that period so I never got into ultimate. Would certainly explain that "misconception" and his portrayal in the Amazing movies.
Blake Turner
The only people who read comics and give any kind of a shit over Flash are the people who are super pissed we’ll never see Agent Venom on the big screen. Don’t get me wrong, I fucking loves Agent Venom, but that’s never going to happen, and no one ever gave any kind of a fuck about Flash until that comic came out
Christopher Parker
>and no one ever gave any kind of a fuck about Flash until that comic came out I did.
In flash's first appearance pretty sure the girls call him a dream boat and reject peter to go out with Flash. He is supposed to be a chad he even wears varsity letters in most of his appearances while still in school
Daniel Scott
Sounds more like Raimi's Flash than Pajeet here
Juan Morales
You're right and that's exactly why I don't like the casting
Asher Garcia
I was referring more to the "physically threatening" part, Flash is supposed to be a Chad but I really don't know where the idea that he constantly beat Peter up comes from.
Brandon Stewart
True he rarely physically beat on Peter. Though he was on the football team and joined the military so I am guessing he was pretty fit. I don't have a problem with the type of bulling this new flash does, just that he is supposed to be a chad which this flash obviously is not.
Though I don't care enough either way.
Carson Reed
Raimifags are clueless News at 11
Ian Long
Well, you’d have a better chance at throwing a raspberry on the moon than we ever did of seeing an Agent Venom movie, well before the cast that kid as Flash. I can almost believe you, it was pretty badass how he and Molten Man defended the Parker home from the people infected by Shriek’s craziness during Maximum Carnage
Austin Brooks
>revisionism What is this word doing here. We're clearly examining a current day film, and yet user seems to be confusing the garbage film canon with the even shittier garbage comic lore.
>once decides to disguise himself as Spider-Man, gets immediately captured, unmasked and cries for help >gets tired of Peter's backsass and finally decides to confront him physically, but gets one-punch KOd by his bullying victim in front of the whole school >is actually named Eugene like a fucking dork All this happened in the comics except for the last part, because Fiash actually tried to fight and when Peter hit him in gym class everyone thought it was a lucky punch and Peter then let himself be beaten to not raise any suspicion
Robert Young
>I know people on 4chins have this weird Stockholm syndrome where they think bullies are super cool, but that's not who Flash was.
I agree completely. I even don't mind the bully being redeemed later in life. I had tons of bullies in school and as an adult, a few actually turned out nice and semi-apologized in their own way.
I agree with Ditko, he needed that outlet, he did the world a good service bringing attention to bullying as an issue too.
I agree with you about Yea Forums's weird contrarian bully-fluffing too. It's just trolling I think, everyone here knows people on here got bullied so they like to pretend to support the bullies to Chad-LARP and troll.
Yeah that IS what irks me though. Agent Venom turned out to be a great idea and would have worked out great as a side-thing spun from Spider-Man. Hell they could have had him in the GoTG movies. But they fucked up royally, predictable.
Connor Clark
The only thing that matters about Flash is that he doesn't like Peter but he worships Spider-Man.
That's what makes their relationship fun and a little tense and it's what makes you wonder how he's gonna react when he finds out they're one and the same.
Adam Miller
They were thinking... "We just watched the other movies and Flash was a character in those so that's what we need"... They don't read comics so they don't know there was more to the character.
Isaiah White
True. But i remind you that people in Yea Forums that says "you didn't read the comic!" Also didn't read it. They just go to a youtube channel about comics or to wikipedia. That's why people on Yea Forums unironically tries to defend indian flash
Ethan Sullivan
Reminder that this poo is probably gonna become Venon and it's gonna be awful
Sebastian Howard
I pray sony actually gets their Venom in MCU then.
Oliver Fisher
I mean indian flash retains some of the important aspects like loving Spider-Man, but they made him too much of coward to be the original Flash that suppose to represent that Peter is the bigger man, because despite having the strange to beat him and humiliate, he dosen't because responsability, at least they could showed him doing something right or at least be buff, but this flash really lacks parts of the original
Liam Bell
Spectacular Spider-Man's Flash was actually perfect and filled the role really well. He even did well with being a bully, but trying to be supportive after Ben died.
Caleb Morales
There was a kid at my school that was called penis Pete. His name wasn't even Pete, but it was pretty upsetting for him. He was a bit of an autist but not a bad guy or anything and the kids on the bus would start chanting penis Pete penis Pete and he would look sad. In addition to other verbal bullying. I feel kind of bad to this day that I never said anything to him or offered any support.
Eli Rogers
bullies should feed nerds to the Nephilim through lockers
Ryder Ward
PORKER
Xavier Jackson
You already did this when Homecoming came out. I haven't even seen these films and I still had to watch you guys convince yourselves that he's a more lateral threat than classic Flash. Why go through all that effort just to forget it a few years later?
Justin Turner
>People that read the same thing as me MUST agree with me Literally not how art works
Eli Lewis
they're setting up for "agent venom" or whatever that story where flash is a good guy and also venom. it's a loophole because sony wants to make the venom trilogy and obviously MCU wants venom for merch sales
Evan Ortiz
>Venom without the yandere stage for Peter
Just as dumb as the venom movie.
Joseph Long
It's the exact kind of insult high school kids throw at each other
Landon Lopez
Whoever it was has a secure job at Marvel Studios and makes millions of dollars per year. Have fun at work tomorrow
Camden Cook
A writer who knew that a shitty bully would rely on something just simply vulgar enough that after repetition, it would actually start pissing the person off.
Mason Gonzalez
They're actually most likely some throw away writer who was lucky to get any of their original dialogue into the final script.
Thomas Sanders
Did that shitty insult appear more than once after than scene?
William Jenkins
yeah well that's what we get. the studios are never going to give up their shit. the MCU lucked out for the first decade but man is it going to tank in the second, we can already see the decline
John Russell
I think Flash said it once during his first appearance, then started chanting it while he was DJing at the party and I THINK got the crowd to chant with him.
Brandon Clark
Well if there was any line worth including, it was that one
Zachary Evans
I had a bully in middle school who would just say "hey faggot" every time he saw me in the hallway. He stopped when I punched him in the neck. Bullies aren't creative.
Samuel Garcia
>Penis Parker >Not PeePee Parker
Leo Bell
I swear I saw it as a hashtag on one of his streams in this movie.
Brandon Stewart
>didn't understand OP's point >didn't understand mine either Cope
Kevin Gomez
>never attacks Peter physically, it's just "puny Parker lmao", which Peter constantly talks back to He constantly pushed him dude, even knocking his glasses off plenty of times, and he challenged Peter to fights plenty of times, Peter just never agreed to them because he was busy with Spider-Man stuff >loses his girlfriend to Peter despite Peter not even trying Because Peter gained way more confidence when he became Spider-Man, but even then Peter also lost Liz because he was a screw up >said girlfriend constantly shit talks him and not only does he take it, he apologizes to her Because he's a good guy deep down, and he does know the way he acts is stupid, it was just ingrained in him from his dad >secretly admires Peter without knowing it Yes, that's part of the dramatic irony of his character >once decides to disguise himself as Spider-Man, gets immediately captured, unmasked and cries for help anybody would do the same thing if they're a high school kid who got kidnapped by Dr. Fucking Doom. And the next time he dressed up as Spidey to defend his honor, he tried his best to fight three muggers, and stayed in the fight despite getting the shit beat out of him (he's still a high school kid vs three adults) >gets tired of Peter's backsass and finally decides to confront him physically, but gets one-punch KOd by his bullying victim in front of the whole school No shit, that's what happens when you fight someone with superpowers. And all his classmates still defended him and made excuses for him. >is actually named Eugene like a fucking dork That was a perfectly fine name in the 60s dude
I felt pretty bad for Flash. His parents don't care about him, he has extremely narcissistic online habits, and he pretty much has nothing going on in his life at all. Yet he's the rich kid and so tries to make that important, which it isn't. His entire being may as well be a giant black hole of loneliness.
Lucas Walker
>>Flash is supposed to be a physically threatening Chad >>Is he? Yes, he was a normal jock, therefore physically threatening, you think a weakling like him would have been in the football team? You're right about the rest but that doesn't change that MCU Flash is as imposing as a newt.
Chase Collins
>>another thread about Yea Forums crying about how people didn't read the source material when they didn't do it either You never get bored about this guys?
Pretty good rebuttals but the point isn't so much that he's a loser as he's not a winner. He's nuanced, he's not that Chris Evans character from Not Another Teen Movie. Disagree on the Eugene part, pretty sure that was treated as funny in story. >posts a literal revisionist cover
Luke Edwards
But I did read it. I got the omnibus a couple of years ago. I just made exaggerated points to get (You)s.
John Roberts
You just know if Marvel did their Venom it would be no more than a suit that makes people aggressive and no more.
Anthony Moore
physical bullies aren't relevant anymore. Strict school policies are in place and most zoomer bullying is akin to this nu-Flash.
Sebastian Morris
We got JJJ knowing who Spider-Man is without knowing Peter personally, this whole thing is dumb.
Jace Scott
bullshit. They'd make it a crazy ex-girlfriend.
Evan Reed
BECAUSE Yea Forums IS ABOUT COMIC BOOKS AND CARTOONS IF YOU ARE ON Yea Forums YOU SHOULD BE HERE FOR THOSE TWO THINGS NOT MOVIES NOT VIDEO GAMES COMIC BOOKS AND CARTOONS FUCK
Christopher Thompson
We wouldn't have complaints if you we didn't actually read the source material and note the claring differences. You actually have to read the books to know what's different user.
Andrew Adams
Well shit, that's how Raimi's Venom was. Killed literally only one guy
Justin Anderson
You can make these comparisons to every side character in Spiderman MCU.
Jack Brooks
They literally just shit on any good thing, don't they? I mean that ruins any chance of them working together, that's the whole fucking relationship. MCU Spider-Man is anti-Spider-Man.
Ethan Clark
I feel like making him a turbo chad jock is too stereotypical. Maybe it was fresh and innovative in the 60s but by the 80s, it seemed like a cliche. I don’t like all the changes but making him an annoying tryhard Pajeet works imo.
If the main reason you don't like the casting for Flash Thompson in a Spider-Man movie is because of a spin-off about a combination of flash and the Venom symbiote, which would require multiple Spider-Man movies to set up specifically that concept, meaning there's about a 0% chance of it ever happening in the MCU, then you need to take off your comicsfag goggles and wake up to the realities of Hollywood. You're basically saying that in order to make one Spider-Man film, they need to tread carefully with all their creative decisions so that they can get any potential storylines from the comics to work, and that's not even how the MCU has functioned so far. They've killed off numerous characters that could have been used to adapt storylines from, and they've still managed to make dozens of critically acclaimed and financially successful films from what they had, because there's nearly endless source material to use. Stop defining your enjoyment of a film by franchise potential and future spin-offs, that's no way to live your life.
Landon Ross
You would think that people would be happy that the weak bully is an Indian instead of one of your proud white males. The whole joke is that Peter is so pathetic that a complete dork could bully him.
Anthony Rodriguez
Is this written by Bendis >repeating the same phrase four panels in a row >"serial killer lady" >"allyalls"
Thomas Cox
>is this written by Bendis Yep, this was before people caught onto Bendispeak and he turned into a parody of himself
Joshua Morris
It was a running gag throughout the movie, Flash is a rich trust fund baby with absent parents. The joke repeats in a few ways throughout the movie. As I recall there was him texting his mother about his father coming home, his mother not picking him up, him constantly live streaming for the attention that he doesn't get from home, flaunting his cash because that's all he has, shitting on peter for being poor, idolizing spider-man because he is the type of selfless hero who WOULD care about someone like flash. It's true to flash and his character, and it's meant to be funny in a sad kind of way. Flash isn't a bad guy, he just has bad parents.
What's Agent Venom and why is it impossible with the current Flash casting?
Dominic Wright
We're going to get thinly veiled tvpol whinning about the MCU forever, aren't we?
Matthew Green
It's Flash becomes the 3rd prominent Venom owner, after years of development for both him and the symbiote. People can't see it either for the reason that it can't realistically/satisfyingly happen before Spider-Man's 10th MCU movie, or because can't picture Revelori bulking up and looking badass.
Adrian Torres
Flash joins army and loses his legs. and he volunteers for an govt experiment to bond with symbiote and became agent venom. We dont know if the current actor can pull that off. He is not a badass enough in current time.
Owen Morales
I wish he'd have survived the snap, and during those 5 years had bulked up. Maybe have him in a wheelchair from an injury he got defending people during the chaos.
Brandon Stewart
This. MCU Flash is a more accurate portrayal of a Zoomer bully. Far From Home even drops a huge hint at the end as to why Flash acts like an attention seeker.
Bentley Allen
Flash doesn't seem like the guy who would call Peter on his shit.
there's a shit load of youtube poops called Penis Parker.
someone at Sony ripped it off.
Carson Powell
it could have gone either way especially with how much dosh the Venom movie made, Sony just locked themselves out of great property to use thats tied to a popular character
Ian Williams
Penis Parker sounds like something a 4th grader would say
