Is there another website to discuss comics? CBR is dead, Reddit is memes and drawings. Where else is there?

Not that I've found. As much as I despise Yea Forums, it IS kind of one of the best places to talk about comics. I hear stuff here fresh off the rumor mill weeks before I see it anywhere else on the internet.
there are a couple discords that are actually good
before Yea Forums i used to use the gamefaqs comics board and comicvine i think, but i haven't used those since i was a teenager and just Yea Forums for storytime and discussion and reddit for news.
Yea Forums is still your best bet. But I have been hiding a lot more threads lately. It's really gotten that bad.
Hopefully Hickman can reignite my interest on Yea Forums, i'm not really following any comics on here or storytimes, still buy trades and read them but mainly for the art but most of the comics we have my gf bought
How tf is CBR dead?
I'm on there everyday.
>Hopefully Hickman can reignite my interest on Yea Forums,
It's amazing how most of Yea Forums turned against him during his Avengers or Secret Wars, but now people are excited about his X-Men. Does everyone have such a short memory?
any comic released after 1997 is dogshit and you're a moron for even entertaining the idea of discussing current releases
The sad thing is, I have frankly seem more Hickman X-Men discussion on CBR. They are talking about the Krakoa seed, the similarities PoX/HoX has to his previous books and who the new characters might be. Of course they haven't gotten past the Hickman-Dick-Sucking phase yet and consider the possibility it might be nothing but hot air.
i never liked his avengers but i always found it fun to read with Yea Forums, that's good enough for me. That and Injustice 1 threads were the best for me prob.
>most of Yea Forums turned against him during his Avengers or Secret Wars
most people think of Secret Wars as a good event on Yea Forums. It was mainly Tommy who riled everyone up about Doom wank.
Not op but I stopped going there when they turned into a listicle site a couple years ago. I only went there for news so no big loss. Good for the owner selling it when they did.
The Batman discussion on CBR is fucking pathetic.
bleeding cool
Yea Forums Yea Forums
>It's amazing how most of Yea Forums turned against him during his Avengers or Secret Wars
Secret Wars was the last event comic I read, how were the others in terms of quality and in terms of a fun storytime?
I don't think Secret Wars or his Avengers were that hated at the time. By end sure there was some negativity, but it wasn't undeserved. Besides, Hickman totally can ride the good will he built with Fantastic Four and Secret Wars doesn't look AS BAD as it did considering everything that came after (Age of Ultron, Aaron's Thor and Avengers in general and etc).
I still love some of the impact his Avengers did, like Bobby buying AIM, this is something that doesn't happen in the comics anymore. Or doesn't stick.
>CWII
Bendis shit at his fucking worst, you can just imagine
>Secret Empire
after the initial frenzy about hydra cap, no one cared
>War of the Realms
Aaron shit, no one cared
Some of us read his comics like East of West which is great
Aren't the forums insanely moderated to the point where any dissent is practically outlawed? It's hard to have any kind of meaningful discussion when you have to watch out for mods if you even think of toeing out of line.
>any comic released after 1997 is dogshit and you're a moron for even entertaining the idea of discussing current releases
Here we have the Yea Forums mentality, not unlike Boomers and classic rock, they stopped reading when they were kids, when life had promise. Now two decades later it all went to shit and they pine for those heady days in their rose colored fedora.
>my gf
Pics or it didn't happen.
if it's not hickman, it'd be someone else. could you imagine cates on x-men?
Hey, some of us have standards. It's not our fault if you don't.
The problem is a) even he admits his plans for Avengers/New Avengers got derailed by editorial and b) his run on both just wasn't very worldbreaking compared to say his runs on FF and Ultimates.
sounds like the reddit discord, banned for saying I thought there should be autistic heros and Riri would work better that way, glad I was banned though that place was so hive mind it was impossible to talk
Marvel comics is like the only company whose most major blunders usually bottom down to absolute lack of any editing and/or editorial ruining everything.
get good mutuals on twitter
have you seen DC lately?
DC's problem has consistently been editing fuck ups through the years. Debatable if bigger problem than Scott Snyder, Tom King and Bendis.
While Marvel has like half a dozen assistant editors per book and the more it has assistant editors the worse end product seems to become.
I thought Marvel simply had no editors at all?
>Scott Snyder, Tom King and Bendis
Old meme is old.
nah, their X-Men line is barely edited. Look at the jew hating reference that got past. Though, I guess the editors just never read the Quran and thought about it.
Hickman's a good writer but I did not like his "cool stuff happened off panel but we'll talk about it" approach to writing the Avengers. Too many characters, unnecessarily convoluted, and ultimately boring.
That's what I am afraid of. If we get a tightly plotted story like his Ultimates we are set. But the larger cast, the worse he gets as we saw with his Avengers book and the X-books are liable to suffer from the same problem.
I took a look on there and every thread was an “appreciation thread”
The worst thing is if Hickman makes OCs. He has a horrible tendency to do that and shift focus to them at the expense of the plot and other established characters. And X-Men writers LOVE making OCs and shifting previous ones to the background.
