Favorite ride poll

Favorite park poll, if you pick "other", list the park

strawpoll.com/4azwyr8p

Bob Iger lets you design a ride, but it has to be based off an IP. What's your pitch, Yea Forums?

Attached: Bob_Iger-396x395.jpg (396x395, 36K)

Been wanting to go to Hershey for quite some time, Pennsylvania in general actually, there seem to be an awful lot of theme parks there.
I went to the Hershey Chocolate World back in like 2005 on a family trip and remember almost nothing about it.

Attached: Hersheys-Chocolate-World-800x450.jpg (800x450, 54K)

What's an IP? I see that a lot here. I think I'd do a coaster. Everest is one of the best rides I've ever ridden. I want to design something imaginative that will astound people, that's never been done before!!

What's your favorite bar? When I was a kid I hated cookies and cream but now it's my favorite. That and the M&Ms. What's your favorite M&M?? Mine is the red one.

Intellectual property, e.g. "Incredicoaster" is a roller coaster with the Incredibles IP.

Ah Thank you!!

I think when Rise of the Resistence finally opens Galaxy's Edge will probably get a bump, but it just seems like the kind of experience you go for once but then not really again.

Former Hershey park employee.

AMA

Leaked Super Nintendo World models, apparently for the initial Orlando KidsZone plan.

Dong Coaster's been cut from Japan and California plans, might still be happening in Orlando even with the park move.

Attached: Nintendo-Model-DonkeyKong-1024x1024.jpg (1024x1024, 201K)

I miss the old mascots. The new ones feel like clip art

Attached: chocolate-world.jpg (1636x920, 377K)

do you remember when paramount ran a bunch of theme parks and used nick brands for all the kids rides ?

I miss when paramount ran Canada's wonderland

Went to Alton Towers last week, AMA

Attached: IMG_20190704_102315.jpg (958x539, 196K)

Is attendance still bad thanks to that horrible coaster accident that left all those people with amputated legs?

>Dong Coaster's been cut from Japan and California plans

Attached: 58f.png (289x435, 215K)

Nah, they've recovered from that now.
Smiler (the coaster that had the accident) queue reached 60 minutes but thankfully it had a single rider line.

Attached: IMG_20190704_115141.jpg (958x539, 205K)

Gotta imagine after an accident like that they'd increase safety protocols by 1000x. I bet some of the original victims are still trying to sue.

>I bet some of the original victims are still trying to sue
The 2 people who lost their legs sued Merlin in September 2018

Do you have any pics? Do they have cute mugs? Do they have dark rides like Disney or only coasters? Do they have park exclusive stuff? Do they have M&M related stuff?
Is the service like Disney?

Never change the bag holding system for coasters, it's the best in the industry imho

Oh. My. Gosh. I'll never be able to get into the park after this is built. The whole world will be there.

Who are the old mascots?

>Canada
>Having something good with good service
Pick one

what's the system?
At Alton Towers they either had you check in your items at a desk before boarding or plop them on a shelf on the other side of the boarding station.

F-ZERO go-karts

That thing looks cool, is it a wooden coaster?

Super Nintendo World is gonna be fucking wild when it opens. The prebuild models already look like they've nailed the look.

Wtf?!

It's called Wicker Man, and yeah it's a wooden coaster. It's relatively new as well and quite good.

Yeah, first one built in the UK in over 20 years.
It has a "world's first" element of incorporating fire but that only amounts to the stuff you see coming from the wicker man's shoulders.

Attached: IMG_20190704_110536.jpg (539x959, 193K)

youtu.be/WHe87P1zT0s

Look up the Alton Tower's Smiler incident

I'm going into Bowser's castle. - my son

Will it have a coaster??

I'm not that excited about Donkey Kong.

This looks absolutely perfect.

Attached: download (2).jpg (474x304, 16K)

I used to be miffed about the park being 90% Mario/DK, but for a first-time gig this shit looks nuts

Whoa it looks really fun! Busch Gardens just got rid of their wooden coaster. I have no idea why, it was highly popular. I rode it before they shut it down. But it was getting old, maybe that's why. Legoland has a really cute, fun kiddie wooden coaster. Universal has a coaster with fire. I honestly hate it. Especially in the middle of summer. But everyone seems to like it ...it scares me.

>But it was getting old, maybe that's why
I rode it in 2008 after they put in new seating and it was horrible, way too bumpy.

Wtf that would never happen in USA. Ever.

Best walkaround characters?

its weird, also, how Universal's Yea Forums-stuff (Nespaper funnies, Marvel, Dr Seuss) is all lined up in a row

Attached: Dom Goblin.jpg (540x535, 74K)

>Universal has a coaster with fire. I honestly hate it. Especially in the middle of summer. But everyone seems to like it ...it scares me
You mean Mummy?
That's one of my favorite Universal rides.

They aren't getting rid of Suess, are they? I'll cry. It's popular for a reason. I like Mario world but it better only be a SECTION. Hopefully no screens on the new rides, either.

...

US parks still have accidents, but nothing as grand as that.

Oh ok

Universal are apparently working on a 3rd theme park called "Universal Fantastic Worlds" and Nintendo World might be one of the sections there.

*Universal Orlando, I mean

Boy, these threads sure do have a lot to do wirh comics and/or cartoons, don't they?

It's serving as the Mario Kart ride setting.

Just report and leave if you don't understand how to sage

>Do you have any pics?
Not handy. It's pretty nice. It was actually a park type park back in the day so there are trees and grass and hills. It used to be free admission then you just payed for the rides and games. But some point, decades ago, it became the big commercial type park it is today. But it's not overwhelmingly huge. I would normally hear park goers say they made it into a weekend. One day for them to do all the coasters and games, and another day for the water park
>Do they have cute mugs?
Probably. There are merchandise tents and shops everywhere
>Do they have dark rides like Disney or only coasters?
Only two I would consider dark rides would be the Reese's Extreme Cup chalenge, which is a lot like the buzz lightyear ride in Disney where you go around and shoot targets with lasers. There is a new one that got instaled maybe 3 or 4 years ago calle Laugh Track which is an indoor coaster with black lights and spinning cars and what have you. Line for that is normally realy long and the estimate time they give you is misleading because the line extends indoors where they have fun house mirrors and shit. They consider THAT part of the ride so the time is always more than it says.
>Do they have park exclusive stuff?
Maybe?
>Do they have M&M related stuff?
No that's MARS chocolates. Closest factory I can think of is about 20 minutes away from Hershey. Central PA is just big on chocolate I guess
>Is the service like Disney?
I'm going to take a leap and say no. I know disney is all about creating magic and everyone is always in character. You have employees at hershey that are really amazing with customer service. A lot of it depends on the department
(purple shirts = entertainment. orange shirts = custodial or karaoke. brown = food. yellow = photographers and locker attendents) but a majority of the staff are overworked kids just trying to make a buck. I don't think hershey has as big of a vetting process as Disney

Yes, it's actually one of my favorite things to do but I don't like the bugs and I don't like the fire. It scares tf out of me. I had to sit next to a pimply teenager who pretended he couldn't speak English last time. He screamed like a girl. I did the single rider line because it was shorter.

youtu.be/2ScRw4eqGL4

This is better than all of them.

Oh wow! Cool!!

all their mascots are anthropomorphic hershey products. The ones I like were designed in the 90s or early 2000s so they all had backwards baseball hats and sunglasses. But the way they were illustrated was fluid. I can't describe it that well. The new designs are just very stiff. Same characters, just feel soulless. Pic attached are the ones I grew up with

Attached: b005da9249ffdcf5623c0bcd7084f231.png (440x276, 252K)

They say this every time. Last time I tried to make a theme park thread in trv it was deleted. The mods obviously allow it but I guess these people like reading their own whiny writing over and over.

Wow! Thanks for the detailed answers! Have you been to Legoland? Is it similar to that?

I remember having a dream about going to an Australian theme park that was half related to DC and hellboy while the other half was related with shounen jump and OPM. If you could make a theme park like this how would you guys make it?

Attached: SROS-VRC-Final.jpg (1606x1193, 2.02M)

Oh, you could consider the Chocolate Tour as an indoor ride but that's over in Chocolate World. It's part of Hershey park, but you have to leave the park and walk to another builidng - Chocolate World. The whole place is just one big gift shop but they have a 4D show and a little ride describing how how chocolate is made with songs sung by animatronic cows.

Incredibly cool.

Australia's theme park offerings are pretty slim but the ones in Queensland are pretty cool. Pretty much the only ones that could barely be considered world class.

I like the soulless one better.

>They
mods?

Oh cute!! I'll have to research a visit sometime.

The first time I saw this, I was amazed. I saved up to go by myself. I didn't have enough money to pay for my whole family to do the trip. I'm really hoping my son gets to see this one day.

Is that Kirby ride still on the table or is that scrapped?

I want them to do this with other gaming companies, that shit would print money

...So how about Jurassic World....

how many days should i spend at each disney park in the US so i can fully explore and enjoy everything they have to offer?
I recently came into a huge windfall
so since i've never been I was thinking about going all in and going nuts
like go to disney world and their parks first
then maybe taking a disney cruise through the pamana canal
then when i land in cali, i'll go visit disney land

I'd recommend a week at Key West resort on site. It's very close, safe, spacious, and quiet. You can explore Epcot on day 1 (it's divided into two sections, Science and International), MK needs two days, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. At night, chill in the pool. Eat at the Polynesian and watch fireworks from your resort pool.

Wait, you want to go to every US park? That's not wise but if you want to do it:

>Head to Disneyland first. Spend 2 days, 1 for each park.
>Go to San Diego and get a Disney Cruise there, that'll take you to the Panama Canal.
>Those cruises are 14 days long and take you throughout Central America.
>Note: Disney Cruises are better with children, but have a lot for adults.
>Then go to Disney World, spend no more than a week.
>If you want just the parks; spend 4 days
>If you want more to do, then spend more days going to Disney Springs and the Water Parks,

I hope you're still here tor read my advice for your trip, hope you have fun

cool thanks for the advice
and its just something stupid and crazy i like to think about doing,
not actually sure about doing it.
but honestly if i were to visit every US park, i'd probably space them out throughout the year

Is Skyrush a complete failure or do most guests actually like it

I think that's a good idea. There is so much to see at each park. It's better to space it out.

>honestly if i were to visit every US park, i'd probably space them out throughout the year

Unless you're local to Florida that's probably a bad idea. If you're making to effort to go to Disney World you might as well spend a week there and hit all the parks while you can.

Unless you just mean Land and World in which case yeah, in fact I'd say don't even bother going to Disneyland unless your a super Disney autist. 90 percent of the stuff there can also be found in World so unless you want to obsess over the different in the Haunted Mansions or the Space Mountains there's no point.

PA here and it's absolutely one of the best places for theme parks. Many wide-ranging types of parks in or near the state, almost every park has a wooden coaster (best place bar none in the world for them), many really old parks. 100% do it

Damn I hope this happens. They need to fill a whole new park area in Orlando so hopefully they don't drop it.

They hate DC fanboys.

consider that this is going to be the rumored spot for Nintendo land California. down the huge escalator/next to the Jurassic world ride. dosnet seem like they can get alot into California.

Attached: Jurassic World Walls Are Down & Ride Testing - Universal Studios Hollywood Construction Update.m (1920x1080, 3.95M)

honestly it seems better than the original even for it being the hollywood version which got the switch 1st. hopefully get get to do a little more for the Florida version

>Pros:
- That mosasauras scene at the beginning is cool as fuck.
- The Facility/drop building seems to be slightly extended and theres more better animations

Cons:
- No more huge ass Ultrasaurus animatronics
- No more dropping jeep, even though for a while they shut down that animation or it broke down and they never fixed it.

youtube.com/watch?v=HJnSNz6ZPQs&t

They got rid of 8 dinosaurs and added... 2? Such a waste of a classic ride if you ask me.

I think putting an extra dino in the bloody scene before the ascent would make it a bit better, bring back the compys fighting over the shirt

I dunno. Everything feels so barren now from when you get into the predator section. I get that the idea is to get the focus on the monitors, but it could still use something more. I will admit that I liked how they borrowed from the Florida version and moved the Dilophosauruses indoors.

The last Rexy could sill use some extra work. Anything to fix up the mechanical arthritis and help speed it up to how it used to whip out back when the ride first opened. If not that, then delay the timing so that it whips out before the breaking point so it doesn't just swing back and forth while waiting for the all-clear on the drop.

I never like how they handled the Ultrasaurus. The neck bending intro animation looked weird, especially with how pronounced the neck joints became as the figures aged, though that's a bigger problem with the Florida version.

That castle...Mother of god...

>bathrooms are themed to Namor

Ah, can't wait to see how Disney drops the ball in California, again.

I keep hearing """rumors""" that Seuss Landing is on the chopping block despite all the shit it has going for it
>only themed area at IoA that is specifically kid-friendly with no thrill rides
>is consistently popular
>fucking GRINCHMAS, which is second only to HHN

Seuss is perpetually relevant. If anything I could see Toon Lagoon getting a retheme, but I think IoA is gonna be largely untouched, with all the new shit going in Fantastic Worlds/maybe Woody Woodpecker's Kid Zone. But ET will always remain, thank God for Spielberg using his Hollywood jew magic to force them to keep that open.

Have fun finding the leprechaun tree.

Pros
>Mosasaur section is a stellar use of screens
>cameos from movie characters
>nice music during the finale
>idea of making the finale take place inside the Rex exhibit instead of doing just another industrial complex is an interesting take
>that cartoonish level of blood and gore outside the Indominus paddock

Cons
>no money shot once the doors open
>old animatronics look janky compared to the new stuff
>new animatronics are middling compared to stuff like Hondo, Hagrid, and the goblins of Gringotts
>literally nothing happens between the parasaurolophus scene and the top of the lift hill, which is like a whole third of the ride
>some of the space/themeing doesn't match up; the Rex exhibit is atop a big lift hill for some reason and the Mosasaur lagoon illusion is ruined the second you look around the surrounding area from outside and see nothing but the tunnel

Overall I like the original better, but this one doesn't look bad. Feels like they had a few neat concepts and ran short on either time or money or both, especially compared to stuff like Hagrid's Magical Mystery Tour featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series and Knuckles.

Here's hoping Orlando stays with Jurassic PARK and the River Adventure just gets a fresh coat of paint.

This.
It was a good opening scene for the ride, but those are the ones that need the most refurbing. The Orlando ones eyelids had basically eroded away last time I rode in November.

>Here's hoping Orlando stays with Jurassic PARK
There's apparently a new coaster being built for Orlando.

Part of me misses the triceratops check up. It was a nice and chill, but I get why it would get the plug pulled on it.

>MHA

>UNITED...STATES OF

>SMAAAAAAAAASH

Ant-Man is getting a microbrewery, which is hilarious, but Spider-Man is literally a reskin of Midway Mania.

I feel like the only really notable things about it will be the character meet and greets and the massive e-ticket coaster.

youtu.be/8s7gxJkhvTo
Goddamn look at how fast those animatronics used to be.

Oh, I forgot to mention
>no gyrospheres in place of the jeep
>no scene where the Indominus camouflages and spooks you as it hunts you throughout the ride
Feels like a lot of missed opportunities for a single new show scene and a retheme for the finale with the rest either being the same or worse

I remember going opening weekend when I was little. That T-Rex left a bit of an impression. Coincidentally, there was a technical accident the day I went. Lots of people got sprayed with hydrolic fluid after one of the animatronics broke down; guess I dodged a bullet that day.

>literally nothing happens between the parasaurolophus scene and the top of the lift hill, which is like a whole third of the ride
This is the biggest issue, they need to sprinkle in some smaller dinos or have another setpiece there like the Jeep from the old version, right now it's just badly paced because the middle of the ride is a static scene and some TVs

wait so we're gonna get Tom Holland telling us to fire webs at targets on a screen?
Does this sound like literally the lamest thing imaginable to anybody else?

There are so many interesting things they could do with a Spider-Man ride so having it be another shooting game with screens is just lame. Hopefully the Avengers coaster is at least cool

I recall Seuss' widow having such a strong relationship with Uni that it was her recommendation that sealed the deal on JK Rowling signing off on Wizarding World

I don't understand why they keep using screens. :( Everyone has to pretend to be interested when we aren't.

I love both Toon Lagoon and Suess. Totally agree. Suess is the only "whole family" themed area. I'm married to someone who only stays indoors so it's like pulling teeth to get them to have fun at the parks. I miss those impoverished years where I had friends who went with me.

First time I saw them I was amazed. They look so real.

I'm really uninterested in the new Jurrassic World ride. It looks stupid. The ride in Orlando is pretty meh except for the drop. I love the them just not what is done with it. Everything looks so fake yet still terrifies yet bores me. It's hard to explain. And the water doesn't have Disney smell.

This seems like yesterday. Now I feel old.

Should never be done. Ever. Terrible time that ruined America.

I'm not sure what you're talking about nor do I care. Stop bossing people around.

Atlantis and Mt Everest are my favorite rides of all time. Dark inside imaginative ride mixed with coaster mixed with water drop.

I tend to like smaller channel views of rides like this because they show me exactly what I want without a lot of commentary or ads.

youtu.be/A8TDwLQSrlc

I never knew how badly I wanted this in my life.

Is this bait

Is it true that they're making a Universal Monsters Land in the third park because that would be fucking amazing

Looks awesome, but still
>Super Nintendo World
>mostly Mario
I understand Mario is the most important Nintendo franchise, but give the others some love as well.

Mario and Donkey Kong is phase 1.

Pokemon and Zelda are phase 2

Rumoured lands:

Dreamworks land
Super Mario Land
Ministry of Magic
Universal Monsters

All lands completely isolated and self contained, linked by a central hub.

God this is going to be so fucking rad.
What section properties you want?

My two biggest inclusions I want for the future is Kirby and Metroid sections.

Look at the barrel at the top. Looks like it launches you onto a piece of track.

Looks like the rumours of "jumps" are true. Guessing a side rail that's only used part of the ride.

>Dreamworks land
So Shrek and... what else? What other Dreamworks franchise does anyone really care about? Kung Fu Panda? How to Train Your Dragon?

>Super Mario Land
Could be the tits.

>Ministry of Magic
Is that another Harry Potter thing?

>Universal Monsters
I kinda doubt it. The Dark Universe has had 3 false starts; I think Universal is ready to put their Classic Monsters franchise to bed, or just stop investing too much capital in it. That makeup show is likely coming up on the chopping block.

Bowsers Castle is the Mario Kart dark Ride.

Rumours suggest it's a multi vehicle dark ride with AR elements where you're actually in a race and get to use powerups against other riders. It's the big showpiece ride of Mario Land.

According to patents, it's a mine car on a boom arm and there's two track levels consisting of the real coaster track and the fake show track

No way they're not doing a Trolls ride. There are a bunch of other moderately good Dreamworks rides outside the US that they could adapt and update. The How to Train your Dragon ride looks kino.

Universal monsters is probably going to be the "pure coaster" section of the park. Rumours suggested Lost World being one of the lands but that was scuppered when they added two lost world attractions to IoA.

Doesn't make sense for the other outdoor sections . It's not impossible that the rides clip into a boom vehicle but that would be very limited in terms of stresses they can put on it.

>Super Mario Land
This seems a little pointless since Nintendo is getting their own park. And as much as I love Mario I'd really love another property instead.

Obviously I know they'll be adding more down the line but still.

Halloween Horror Nights had a really awesome Classic Monsters maze last year and is keeping it around and also doing "Frankenstein Meets Wolf Man" this year.

Apparent game plan is to lean in on that "Original 30s monster aesthetics with very minor updates" style and have a classic Dracula/Frankenstein spooky castle as the main attraction. Seems to be them coming to a realization that they need more stuff with timeless appeal and that the Monsters kinda are Universal's equivalent to Mickey and the old Disney movies.

>since Nintendo is getting their own park
No they're not. Just a land or 2

It's not a full Nintendo park they're doing. They're spreading the Nintendo IPs around the different parks like what they did with Harry Potter.

So expect names like "Super Nintendo World: Mushroom Kingdom", "Super Nintendo World: Hyrule", and "Super Nintendo World: Pokemon League" or something.

If you're talking about Gwazi it's being remade by RMC.

Imagine if they incorporated something like Stickerbrush Symphony into part of the ride. I might actually cry.

Have yourself a zip-a-dee-doo-dah day based Splashanon

If not in the ride itself, put it in the queue music loop. More coasters need comfy queue music

Despite only being 13% of disneylands population...

Going by rumors, the Monsters Land was kind of a fallback if they couldn't get a harder hitting IP.
Still I think that area could be a sleeper hit because Uni clearly loves their horror and a pure horror based ride has a lot of potential. Forbidden Journey started as Van Helsing and that's probably the most impressive ride in the park.

Spider-Man would like a word

A year ago i would have said you could do Epcot and HS on the same day but lately HS is lines out the ass
If you're really loaded I suppose it'd be nice to do one park each day at an easy pace and then just chill at the hotel with any extra time you have

In Universal's new water park Volcano Bay I saw some guy in the corner of my eye straight up choke his kid. Before I could even react a women was yelling and he stopped at which point she the cops.

He was trying to justify himself by saying he was divorced and if she called the cops he wouldn't be able to see his son again. When that didn't work he tried to deny the whole thing despite a crying child clearly hurt next to him.

I left since I wasn't really a good witness since I barely saw the actual straggling, however I did see enough that he had his arms around a crying child's shoulders.

I wish I was making this shit up since I feel like a piece of shit not really doing anything but what could I have done at that point? "I think I saw something" is a large cry from usefulness to actually 100% seeing something.

Attached: what the hell was that.jpg (640x400, 54K)

Depends on the time of year.

Technically you can do Disney in 4 days but I'd recommend at least 6 days.

Also you're doing yourself a disservice not doing a couple of days at Universal. Harry Potter land is better than anything Disney have at the moment.

hated working at disney but lately i find myself YEARNING to go back
i just don't have a car and taking the bus is only viable if you work in housekeeping

I'm sure they have cameras

I love one of the comments saying that this is why they raise prices. I'm all for prices going up if they keep people like this out.

they tried raising prices as a method of managing the crowds. It didn't work. People will save for a year to go to Disney.

>there are people in this thread right now that actually care about shitty baby land getting axed

Fuck kids, they can go have fun somewhere else. Give me more shit to do.

Maybe better security then. Whatever it takes. I thought Disney had plainclothes security guys everywhere in the parks anyway, why did it take so long for the guy to get tackled?

The fact that this happened in Toontown gives it that added hilarity

>THIS MATCH WILL GET RED HOT!
>ITS ON!

That would never happen in MK Orlando.

You mean how Who Framed Roger Rabbit is all about Toons being a segregated underclass of people?

Honestly what can be done? It's hard to say if they actually kill or if they're mildly abusive or if it was a one time thing. The state solution is take kids out of bad families and put them in a foster situation where they're molested. Not really lots of options. That's why I think over 13 you should be allowed to live on your own and have a job if you came from crap.

Dark ride based on Destino as the headliner for a Spain Pavilion at Epcot. I don't think anybody would object to a Salvador Dali ride in Epcot and it's a much better use of the short then "vague atmospheric inspiration for a generic hotel expansion" like that Grand Destino Tower they just opened at Coronado Springs.

Mario(And Donkey Kong) are the only two with consistent aesthetics that are also popular. Zelda is the second pillar of Nintendo, but changes the aesthetics every 5 years or so with every new mainline game. Metroid isn't popular enough to carry more than a few rides. F-zero and Star Fox are perfect for stuff but not popular enough either. And Kirby is too effeminate.

Based Defunctland poster

Pokemon is the only thing that touches Mario in terms of mainstream popularity
Of course they'd have to work with The Pokemon Company too which might be a pain but a Pokemon land could possibly rival Potter, especially if they do the obvious gimmick of selling pokeballs that can interact with the land

An alpine slide with set pieces from the Predator and/or Alien franchises, including motion-activated animatronics and effects.

I think it would be easy enough to pack Metroid/ Star Fox/ F-Zero in to a Nintendo Sci-Fi area.

I once saw a guy attack another guy with a chain at Islands of Adventure
I also saw a group of guys jump one guy on a bench at Universal Orlando.
Both of these were during Halloween Horror Nights, which explains a lot.
I also saw a girl getting her stomach pumped after collapsing another year. HHN is fun.

there hasnt been an f zero game in 15 years

Thats what happens bro. You say you will never work there again and then you get nostalgic and come back. It happened to me.
Twice.

This shit always happens in toontown. I saw this guy kick popcorn out of his sons hands a few months ago. Another day near the entrance of toontown I saw a lady make a scene was screaming at her husband because they made her wait for something.

Wow that was really cool!!

I would retheme the Haunted Mansion into a Bloodborne ride.

Disney's Grand Californian is the closest on-site hotel, with it's own entrance to Disney California Adventure (dumps you right next to Soarin'). The remaining hotels (Disneyland Hotel and the Paradise Pier Hotel) require a small jaunt through Downtown Disney to reach the park esplanade

why does disney park employees seems more "professional"
every other park seems like they hire a bunch of people who absolutely hates working there
is universial like this too?

>every other park seems like they hire a bunch of people who absolutely hates working there
As a former Six Flags employee I assure you everyone you see does hate working there. I don't know about other parks but Six Flags has a bunch of bullshit rules that they use to make your life miserable all the while treating the employees like disposable meat sacks. There were multiple times I was not given a break in 100+ degree weather and I had no water or anything, and these were 8 hour shifts. Friend I had working there was a costumed character and got injured by a fatass guest and the park swept it under the rug and fired them. The employees hate working there because they know upper management are assholes who would gladly let you die before they gave a shit.

When I first got hired I was all excited and glad to be a part of the park but I learned better.

Thank you! in Legoland I was directly on site so I really like that

Universal is excellent, especially in Harry Potter World and Transformer area.

You have to look into the history of Walt. High standards of service are a part of American pride.

From what I've seen the workers absolutely hate working at Disney too and are miserable, they just have to smile all the time and pretend they aren't or they'll get fired

*LIES*

>they just have to smile all the time and pretend they aren't or they'll get fired
good, theme parks should be like this
if you're unhappy you're just gonna ruin park guests experience
and if you're unhappy you should find a job that makes you happy

>if you're unhappy you're just gonna ruin park guests experience
>and if you're unhappy you should find a job that makes you happy
user no one would work there then.

any of you guys remember the alien encounters ride/theater show that i think Disney-Orlando used to have?
i'm pretty sure it was Disney. had Tim Curry voicing a character, you were all seated in a round room and a friendly space show turned dark and threatening as a hostile alien broke free and ran around the room.
there were speakers and i think air/water sprayers in the individual chairs for an immersive experience.

Except it did,
On it's first operating day SteVe had an accident where 2 trains bumped at the station.

Used to be Disney World, then it got turned into a Stitch attraction.

Still think it would make for one hell of a Metroid experience.

God the Hagrid rollercoaster makes Slinky Dog Dash and Incredicoaster look like absolute dogshit.

I'm glad it fucking tanked. Now any Monsters themed stuff will be cool classic timeless shit, not new woke wannabe Avengers shit.

As someone who works at disneyland and used to work at disney world this is both true and untrue. Really depends on where you work and what you like. Disney World is in Florida which is a right to work state so you could get shifts from 9 AM to 1 AM if you work in the busier parks.

Housekeeping is absolute bullshit because they train inexpereinced college program kids in three days and expect them to clean 15 rooms quickly and perfectly. It doesn't make a lick of sense business wise because they are wasting money trying to keep these kids to work this awful job you need actual experience in.

whats stopping someone from bringing a sphere capture 4k camera that is encoded using webgl allowing you to use your phone for vr of the video?

You're comparing it to a kid coaster and an intentionally generic coaster that got a re-theme, of course it makes them look like dogshit. An accurate comparison would be towards Expedition Everest.

Makes Everest look like the dogshit pile that "mountain" resembles

There’s a ride called “Steve?”

The best they could do with Star Fox is set you and a dozen other people up in Arwings, then send you through an exclusive level and see who gets the high score.

I want to touch Fox’s tail.

Maybe they'll sell plushies of the team in the giftshop, with an extra fluffy tail for Fox.
Fox and Falco will sell because Smash and furries, the people with taste will get Peppy, and no one but the completionists will get Slippy.

You sick fuck
DO A BARREL ROLL

It's not even true. Disney provides the best service in the world.

The one thing that will bring down is the Muslims Obama brought there. I walked up to one for a question and she walked away before half of it came out. No other employee would ever do that. They have no respect because to them we are the enemy. It's probably annoying having to check her for a bomb every day too.

College program "kids". They're full grown adults but are middle to rich brats so act like they're in highschool. Making them work housekeeping is incredibly stupid. They're supposed to make the park look fun, beautiful and exciting. After I saw what goes on there,I'd never send my kid. They sleep around ect it's really gross.

Both of them are unimpressive. These parks aren't offering anything innovative. It's 2019 but they're still using animatronics or even worse, screens. I only go for the older imaginative rides.

You only speak for yourself. You have a lazy attitude. No one owes you anything. The reason MK is good is because they take pride in bringing joy and working hard to make things nice for people.

What you use then wise guy?
>no one has storylines the galaxy's edge comic

>tfw Antman inclusion in Disneyland isn't a reskin of Adventure Thru Inner Space
Pretty disappointed honestly, the subs got brought back via IP stapling. You'd figure they could just improve on what the original ride was and build it in DCA.

Wait, that's actually a good show?

Knoebels's is 100% based, one of the best parks I've ever been to. Even without a ton of rides it's incredibly comfy and the food is the best.

Go for it. It's less a theme park and more a museum though. The absolute scale of the thing is super impressive.

You don't get that ride's hype until you get on it and holy shit

Coaster-Dark-Ride hybrid like DisneySea's Journey to the Center of the Earth in the Japan Pavilion set around a kaiju attack and giant robot battle in Mount Fuji.
>You are a tourist exploring Mount Fuji with the Japanese Alternative Energies Company
>JAEC is using the magma contained deep within Mount Fuji for energy
>JAEC drill Mount Fuji and awakens Kaiju
>The son of the head of the JAEC, Hero, shows up through out the ride hinting at the possible Kaiju attack.
>as things go bad, he gives a very lame excuse to disappear, only then for Heroman (or a cooler non-trademarked toku hero) to show up in his giant robot and defeat the Kaiju.
>Mix of big animatronic arms and faces, forced perspective and cg scenes convey the battle until a final climax where the passagers zoom down Mount Fuji and return to the loading area.
>exit video with the Son, clearly exasperated from the fight back in civilian clothing wishing the guests a happy day at the park.

The new Black Panther looks great

There are a lot of times where they try to make each other break character, usually by fucking with Kristoff.
I went to one show where Aria was visibly very pregnant, and she kept making mommy jokes while hitting on Kristoff. And he could barely keep himself from laughing, when she made him rub her belly. It’s a fucking great cast.

It’s so easy. You’re the newest batch of trainees PPDC, and you and your team are testing out your compatibility in their newest four pilot jaeger. They strap you into a standing sim, that you can move your arms and legs in, with 3d glasses. But oh no, a Kaiju breach, and none of the other pilots/Jaegers are ready yet! So you’re unceremoniously launched into battle and get knocked around until another more seasoned Jaeger can join you.

Good concept but those movies that didn't make enough to have a ride that would draw crowds

>if Twin Peaks held it's traction in the second season we probably could've had a Black Lodge dark ride in MGM Studios with how much Eisner loved putting shows and movies in the parks

That's so cool, so that means they're sometimes unscripted which makes the best humor :)

I'm YEC (huge Kent Hovind listener)

California isn't the best place to maintain anything right now. Even at Disneyland sadly.

Does it still have huge lines?

Technically, Knoebels has more rides that Disneyland, according to a tour I took a few years back. They're really effective at utilizing the space they have available.

Animation classes are back at Animal Kingdom
fox35orlando.com/entertainment/attractions/walt-disney-world-revives-animation-classes-at-animal-kingdom

Unironically wouldve rather then build that in Disneyland than Galixsoy's edge

flight of passage is over 2 hours right now while the brand new falcon ride is at about an hour
there was coaster in the concept at one the idea was the boat ride is pandora by sea flight of passage is pandora by air and the coaster is land
knoebels does tours?
good but dont they have somewhere at studios they could do it?

If they brought up salaries, they wouldn't be able to to sustain themselves. The jobs are for young people or people looking for a casual second income (housewives), it's not supposed to be a career. It's for people who really love Disney.

My daughter would love that

Then yeah you'll like the Ark, it's very well made.

Huh, that's pretty incredible.

I didnt know corporate drones posted on here
>they wouldnt be able to sustain themselves
bullshit

I don't normally like the argument of companies not being able to up salaries because it cuts into profits but Disney is crazy huge. If anyone could afford it, they could.

>the multi-billion dollar company would go out of business if we paid cast members enough that they don’t have to have four roommates in their 30s or live out of their cars
You’re right. They might have to give Bob Iger slightly less of his $3 million base salary, plus $12 million annual bonus, and additional $20 million in stock grants. This isn’t even including other execs’ salaries.

And before you say, ‘well, guests tickets will increase!’
It costs Disney about ten cents for each guest entering the parks. Ten cents and your average ticket price is over $150.
Disney isn’t hurting for money at all. Disney should be paying competitively, and scheduling their CMs enough hours so that it actually isn’t a struggle everyday. I love Disney; I genuinely loved working with kids in the 90 degree heat each day. But I didn’t love fighting to get enough hours, let alone overtime to pay my rent. I didn’t love having to have a bunch of roommates because that’s the only way to afford central Florida housing on a Disney salary at the time.

You want to have a theme park that is, frequently, a once in a lifetime experience for guests. You train cast to operate heavy machinery, joke, or act as characters for 8-15 hour shifts, with a perpetual smile and a kind voice. It’s physically and emotionally exhausting job, and going home, wondering if you’ll make your rent even after all that, shouldn’t be an additional worry. But if you think that Disney should just be a cute little part time job that doesn’t really matter and isn’t worth paying properly, then CMs should treat it as such, right? Get rid of full timers, who have been there for 30 years, and know every inch of their ride. Only have a rotating cast of 20 year old CPs, cram them six to a three bedroom dorm, and know that they’ll only be there for 3 to 6 months, and it doesn’t matter because mom and dad will subsidize their meager pay.

Weren't they testing autonomous droids thst would just wander around Galaxy's Edge?

Got rid of that idea cause the parents let the kids do shit to them

oh god i just remembered working 3 straight 12 hours days

Why did Galaxy's Edge fail

TLDR I mean if you attack Disney you're attacking Liberalism so I'm not that invested. I'd be sad to see Commies take it down because it makes so many people happy, but meh. Like I said, no one owes you a job. If you don't like a place, leave.
Oh the world owes me a living

Anybody like Swoozie's old toons about working at Disney?

youtu.be/bNGzUxPCQN8

Disneyland had a gay pride parade and it pissed their base off.

But I sympathise with anyone who has to live with roommates. There is nothing worse.

There's many factors. Main three being price increases becoming too much, people being told it would be too crowded so they avoided the park and it being lackluster and based on sequels less people care about

apprently so

>Make it like the Falcon ride where you can "win"/"fail"
>You have to be perfectly in sync with your partner to win

Annual passes are blocked out, It has one attraction that isn't that interesting, rest is a niche shopping mall

>aesthetic as fuck ride
based
>being built near the abomination that is the speedway
unbased

for me its finding nemo the musical

I want a kaiju theme park so bad, but it's too niche to have a Disney/Universal tier park.

Lands:
>MonsterVerse divided by Godzilla and Kong (Monarch base and Skull Island)
>Gamera
>Ultraman
>Evangelion
>Pacific Rim

There would be so much potential for amazing rides and areas

I understand why they keep the speedway around. Kids really love it and keeps wait times down in lesser frequented attractions in Tomorrowland. But it fucking stinks, switch to electric already.

You couldn't pay me to go through the Matango maze.

It stinks and is loud, if they switched to electric it would solve most of the problems, plus it would fit more in Tomorrowland

This video gives Stitch a bad rep. He's exaggerating how bad it is to be """funny"""

and grabbing his crotch defensibly. What the fuck?

I'd rather have a taser happy psycho. Least they'd shut that shit down.

>go watch the muppets!
lol

Ehh, that shit got real janky around the last years of its lifespan. That smell was for real baked into that theater and I've yet to see a single smiling kid leave that theater.

It was yet another butterfly effect style side effect of Euro Disney failing.
>Euro Disney fails
>money gets tight
>Alien Encounter gets expensive
>Eisner falls out of love with the idea
>cost and complaints put it on the chopping block
>necessity for a Lilo and Stitch ride makes for a quick and cheap overlay despite the ride concept itself being built around spooky sound effects in the pitch dark
It was a doomed concept from the start and the Imagineers did the best with what they were given. But their best in this case still legit smelled like puke.

I appreciate he has the helmet.

They finally got rid of the speedway in Tokyo
They should do the same in Florida and California. Its a lot of real estate, especially in Cali.

Bring back the Beetlejuice's Rock and Roll Graveyard Revue

youtube.com/watch?v=WPszmQPeLYY

Because its Strait Up "Star Wars" without Star Wars.

People want to hang at a real hive of scum and villainy. Not a fake one.

And the Galaxy Edge "Mascot" is a joke.

A generic "Resistance" Fighter. WTF?

>a real hive of scum and villainy. Not a fake one
Are you suggesting that Star Wars is real?

The idea was they wanted you to go on your own Star Wars adventure instead of just retracing the steps of the movies. In an environment where the only big projects that get greenlit are fucking IP cash-ins, they wanted to have it both ways and do an IP cash-in that was an original location with its own identity but still loaded with references spanning the whole franchise.

In hindsight they really show themselves in the foot with the stupid decisions they’ve pushed and the one open ride being a mediocre arcade ride where you can’t even get a good view unless you’re in the pilots seat besides, plus the $200 lightsabers that fall apart of you look at them wrong and no classic characters just their forgettable ST cast

No but Galaxy's Edge is so generic that it could be any other wanna be Star Wars instead of the actual thing.

>The idea was they wanted you to go on your own Star Wars adventure instead of just retracing the steps of the movies.

But that's what people have always wanted, dunno why they didn't get that. Folks have wanted to go where there heroes have gone. Not some nowhere port in the middle of bumfuck space where nothing is happening.

Honestly if they keep this up going into Orlando then it'll be something seeing how it compares to the Nintendo Land that while it may not be a perfect replica of Nintendo Stuff. It looks like it'll have the feeling that people want from such a place.

And that's what Galaxy's Edge is missing, no feeling.

They really dropped the ball and blew billions on galaxy edge, they should’ve just done H.P. style area with different sections based on classic locations it’s too late now and if they want to change anything it’ll cost them big

The problem is that HP can include multiple areas without breaking immersion.

It may be an unpopular opinion, but I'd rather have an OC planet that feels Star Wars-y than a host of biomes that have me literally walking from Hoth to Tatooine.

Besides, light speed means there's no reason a ride can't take place on those planets, like with Star Tours and Smuggler's Run.

>that street show where the Ghostbusters fight Beetlejuice
I feel like crossing over existing IP is a huge missed opportunity.

>The Blues Brothers get mistaken for MiB agents and have to fight aliens through song
>Megatron steals the Flux Capacitor to travel back in time and kill Optimus Prime; it's up to Doc Brown and the DeLorean (now an Autobot named Chronotron)
>The Mummy vs Jaws

Wasn't Galaxy's Edge supposed to have droids and aliens wandering around?

I honestly feel like that's what's missing. It looks like Star Wars, the rides are Star Wars, the shops are Star Wars, but it doesn't feel like a bustling spaceport.

>Megatron goes back in time
And like that, we just went back into Beast Wars

Oh that's cool.
My theory on it:
You have your standard projected lights around the frame and what looks like a two way mirror on top of a video screen. The two way mirror/video screen is a typical enchanted mirror set up. Might be a full projector set up though.
The frame around it extends out and down into a doorway. The top of the mirror appears to stay level so the sides and bottom are the moving parts. Looking at another video, the mirror appears to be a wall within the wall or something like that because reflections from the background stay until the door opens.
So you have the wall, the mirror wall sitting just inside the wall like a pocket-sliding door, and the frame that expands to fit like a doorway.

The dimly lit room with bright shimmering lights dancing around, and the scene in the middle, distract away from the wall expanding. If you could see just that without the lights and magic mirror scene it would be easier to decipher. Would be nice to see better footage of the bottom dropping to the floor, but that's not something people really pay attention to.

I believe the reason they didn't do droids is because of fear of it being to crowded, which makes it hard for the droid to maneuver in general, but also for whoever controls it to do so at a far enough distance that it isn't obvious it's being remote controlled. That said, with Disneyland having caps on how many people can be in the land at once, the land being below that cap during the mandatory reservation period, and the land just generally not being that packed even when it did reach the cap means it makes no sense why they wouldn't have brought them out by now.

I don't know about aliens, since I only recall seeing those in shop concept art and we technically got one in the way of Dok Ondar; but yes, droids were meant to be wandering around and they did tests with them in Tomorrowland like a year or two back with them. But even if they don't have plans to have walk-around aliens right now, there's no way they won't change those plans after fan feedback starts piling up.

They should’ve just made designated areas with droids freely moving through them if space was an issue, at least have one or two aliens for shows or something

Apparently Smugglers Run is only one mission right now because of crowd control concerns too. Like there was reports of at least three missions having been developed, with another one being a big race for a lot of credits.

They really overestimated how many people would come didn’t they?

They cut a lot of entertainment aspects out for budget constraints too.

Like Vi Moradi was developed for the purposes of random stunt shows throughout the land where you might look up and see chase scenes and fights on the rooftops of the village between Resistance agents and First Order troops.

Life imitates art.

That’s mean user

They made some random OC that no one knows or cares about instead of actually putting money into shows and cool shit, fuck just have a cantina band playing music or a droid show, they could’ve done a Indiana Jones style show like in Hollywood except with Star Wars esthetic and it’s just characters stealing shit from the first order, this stl just screams wasted potential

WELCOMETOTHEDAYBELLENBEASTFELLINLOVE!

What exactly was the smell supposed to be?

A chili dog burp.
It basically smelled like artificial dog food, and the ride had been operating for so long that you smelled it before the show even started.

The whole time I just felt bad for the CMs who had to do their 9 to 5 in that theater, though I guess you'd get used to it.

That's still just roaming character stuff though. They could do that on a case by case basis. If it's shoulder to shoulder, then keep the droids inside. If it's not too packed, cart em out.

Having living characters that aren't scheduled encounters makes the area feel more alive (and the moments you actually run into those characters all the more special).

If it's a matter of "well these actors showed up to work, we have to have them do something", then have a designated character plaza where you can send them out to mingle when it's too crowded to free roam. Something like the Triwizard area at Hogsmede or the Beedle the Bard stage in Diagon Alley, where if you don't have something going on there it doesn't look like wasted space, but where you can have characters show up and have it appear totally natural and unobtrusive.

>Galaxy's Edge main character is some blue haired asexual POC otherkin instead of fucking Rey or Chewie or Poe or whomever
>they could have even made it one of their animated characters, since there's no "but that doesn't look like the actor" issue
I get that they don't want the issue of "we're staging a street fight and there's some Florida tourist on a rascal cruising in front of Stormtroopers", but some random encounters and events would really help sell the idea that this is a living world.

One of the main reasons HP feels so right is because there's characters EVERYWHERE, even if it's just random witches or the train conductor or whatever. There's teens and 20 somethings in wizard robes and it honestly looks like a bustling campus/shopping district. I feel like I'm at Hogwarts on a snowy day even though it's 89 degrees, I'm wearing an MST3K shirt, and I can see the Jurassic Park sign to the left of Hogwarts castle.

Galaxy's Edge is a cool addition to the park but they honestly should have waited to unveil it until they could CRAM it full of stuff to do and characters to meet. The Bluetooth things that tip the cashiers off to your Smuggler's Run performance is a cute start but we're still a WAYS away from what was promised in all the prerelease material.

Is that one bounty hunter even in the cantina? Or is all the cool shit gonna get added in the fall when Rote opens?

Did WDI give up on their living character initiative? It seemed like they were testing a ton of interactive entertainment years ago, the talking Mickey, the muppet mobile lab etc and then it just seemed like it faded out. The mobile droid they were testing for Galaxy’s Edge isn’t even interactive is it?

>The mobile droid they were testing for Galaxy’s Edge isn’t even interactive is it?
Just moved around and rotated its head. Not even beeps.
youtube.com/watch?v=6Xrxsg0NiAo

I do wonder if it was more of a test to see how people would deal with a droid at all rather than a straight test of an intended character though. I flipped through a few videos, and you just get tons of kids running up to it, slapping it, standing in its way, resting their feet on the front protruding part of it, and even some teens and adults doing the same. Maybe they realized for these smaller droids that they need a handler like they do with most costumed characters, or other just make the droids bigger and capable of talking (to make it more intimidating to kids so they won't start beating on it randomly).

Meant for obviously.

20,000 League ride on the Nautilus that is partially submerged in a lagoon. It takes you through different scenarios: Isle of Crespo, Giant Squid attack, Antarctica, the Maelstrom. The ride ends with guests emerging from the Nautilus in the underground cavern as seen in The Mysterious Island.

Probably a lot harder to do licensing wise but I know universal has done avp for hhn

The speedway is for boys ages 0-9. Stop thinking in terms of what you want and think about their typical guest demographic.

That's bloody adorable. Stahp

I'm trying to find that Antarctica one where you walk in and it looks like snow everywhere. It's my absolute favorite. It's supposed to be like a Science base where you sea whales and sea creatures?

I hated that ride. It's too scary for Disney.

That's so 80s. Love it

Overestimated who'd come to a place that featured none of the classic heroes doing anything. I want animatroincs of Luke Han and Leia (Last being very not likely now sadly) at their respective locations giving introductions and stuff.

Luke at a Jedi Academy telling us new Jedi about the ways of the force before going off to build a lightsaber (instead of a crowded room of junkmen handing out parts)

Han as Majordomo of Renovated Jabbas Palace into a Night Club.

Leia introducing the history of the New Republic catching us up on the thirty years we missed and her accomplishments.

Love those ideas!

PAfag here. I recently moved to near Harrisburg. I've been to Hersheypark multiple times since I was a kid, but not for quite a few years now. I did go to their Christmas Candylane in late 2017 along with ZooAmerica which is right next door, but barely any of the rides are open at that time. I want to go there this summer, but money's a bit tight for me right now. Also I'm trying to lose weight, and I know I'm just going to eat like a pig if I go.

I prefer the older version of the Chocolate World tour before they revamped it. I don't know when it was revamped to include the singing cows, but I wasn't a fan of them when they were introduced.

I think most people shit on central PA in general because of the "Pennsyltucky" meme which isn't inaccurate, but still.

I love how realistic it is. It's got a bit of Disney magic feel in this ride.

Attached: img_6981.jpg (3648x2736, 2.15M)

If you hold out till next year that new coaster will be there
It's such a great park in every regard

It's a bit of a drive but seriously consider going to Knoebels. You'll have an incredible time there if you haven't gone already. Otherwise Hershey is solid.

This would have been perfect. Their biggest mistake was theming the park to the ST. You can't use the classic characters, the closest thing you have to iconic characters are Kylo and Rey and the R2-D2 in Droid Depot. They forgot that there's absolutely nothing exciting happening in the galaxy while the First Order and Resistance are having their skirmishes.

Seaworld?

They could easily put in more stuff appealing to boys 0-9 in that area that don't smell like ass.
