Malice never made any sense as a dark version of Sue. Yeah, she's neglected and upset about it. Sure. But "Malice mistress of hate" doesn't in any way correlate to her actual powers or normal design. It's like it's just some random villain outfit slapped onto Sue.

In my opinion an actual heel turn Sue would be something like an assassin, using her invisibility and force fields to kill targets without them even knowing she exists.

The whole point was being as far from Sue as you'd expect, which was an extravagant villainess. Not "Sue, but as super serious assassin".

But Sue has nothing to do with hate. I mean the one time she was working for the Hate-Monger it made sense because she didn't do any of it. The Hate-Monger projected his emotion stuff and Sue pretended to be the one doing it.

But it never made any sense past that one issue.

It was never about making sense, it was about Byrne getting another chance at doing the Black Queen part of the Dark Phoenix Saga, without Claremont. Sue is wearing a bondage costume because the Black Queen wore a bondage costume, there's no deeper reason to it. Byrne's third attempt at a classic Marvel heroine heel turn was a worse story, but the costume made more sense.

And to be fair Wanda's Dark Scarlet costume is actually pretty cool. Not a fan of the short hair without a hairband or tiara tho, makes her look a bit naked.

>in before censored fellatio scene

Byrne's stint on WCA in general was a weird time. Him quitting mid-arc was probably for the best.

he's autistic. Like actually autistic, not just "ha ha ha he is stupid"

Don't forget the legacy doms: Oubliette Midas, Red Queen, and Sinthia Schmidtt.

Sentry's Horseman costume was slick as hell.

>Female character loses clothing when she becomes evil
>Male character gains more clothing when he becomes evil
What did they mean by this?

>Not a fan of the short hair
A heroine responding to trauma and life-changing events by changing her costume and cutting her hair short is another cliché in itself.

>in before censored fellatio scene
Byrne believed that it was up to the reader to determine what was happening, and if you saw something sexual, that was on you, not him. is right that he's probably autistic.

>Sue, who even made that outfit for you
>"N-nobody, shut up"

I think the signs are there for Byrne due to his extreme obsession with details and his unwavering belief in his own theories. He has ideas of what characters should be like, what runs are important and what good storytelling elements are and they seem to be very infexible. Even if you get into his Byrne Robotics forums you can easily be banned from it by voicing an opposing opinion, even in a civil discussion type of way.

But really, I don't think you need any more evidence than the fact that Byrne spent several pages of his Spider-Man Year One series to explain why Spider-Man's back emblem was blue rather than red for one issue of the Ditko run. It's a simple coloring issue, but in Byrne's mind it's big enough to warrant explanation.

Same as with the cornrows meaning Norman Osborn and Sandman are related.

Making Sue a villain would be a good character development for her and the FF

Malice never made any sense except as a cry for attention desu.

Titanium Man is a mood.

The Dark Phoenix Saga was very popular and very influential.

The problem is that it's easy to make assumptions like this about a lot of comics writers, where is the line between being an obsessive nerd about something about being actually autistic about it? People like Roy Thomas and Mark Gruenwald wanted to tie everything together and make everything fit. Byrne is far from alone in devoting too much time to retconning stories he didn't like or trying to 'fix' them, nobody thinks writers like Stern or Busiek or autistic for doing that.

For Byrne, the obsession with 'fixing' trivial details nobody cared about, and his mistaken but inflexible views on characters are signs that he may be somewhere on the spectrum.

Busiek and Stern are fully functioning humans who can and have interacted with fans. Byrne cannot really cope with other people having differing view about anything. Yes, lots of comics writers and artists are fanboys with their own ideas about what comics "should" be (take a look at Alex Ross) but that doesn't mean you've got some kind of social disability.

It says a lot about Marvel's editorial and writers that Byrne was allowed to do everything he did to Wanda and Vision, and in 30 years afterwards, nobody has fixed it.

Titans Tomorrow Tim Drake had a really amazing Batman suit.

But Myrmidon just means lackey. How is that a good name?

Deep down, Sue really just wants to be a brutal and violent dom and Malice is an expression of her sexual frustration.

Susan, I said SHUT UP!

>Myrmidon
>The Myrmidons (or Myrmidones Μυρμιδόνες) were an ancient nation of Greek mythology. In Homer's Iliad, the Myrmidons are the soldiers commanded by Achilles.[1] Their eponymous ancestor was Myrmidon, a king of Phthiotis who was a son of Zeus and "wide-ruling" Eurymedousa, a princess of Phthiotis. She was seduced by him in the form of an ant. An etiological myth of their origins, simply expanding upon their supposed etymology— the name in Classical Greek was interpreted as "ant-people", from murmekes, "ants"— was first mentioned by Ovid, in Metamorphoses: in Ovid's telling, the Myrmidons were simple worker ants on the island of Aegina.

Why is Nick Fury white?

Why wouldn't a guy played by David Hasselhoff be white?

>In an attempt to get attention Sue pretends to be a scenery chewing super villain
>Reed don't play that and slaps her shit
Only in a John Bryne comic can domestic violence save the day

And the tradition continues to this day

>Busiek
>fully functioning humans
user no, he's autistic too. Just look at the letters he wrote in to Marvel before he worked there

This should just be her permanent normal costume.

This

She's the maroon witch!

Havok's costumes are always dumb

Imagine if she wore this in blue as her hero outfit

Is that Liefeld? Because that's one shitty costume and anatomy.

MOMMY

Oh, pointless spi...wait she could fly by people with those and it'd be totally dope.

god male artists are so boring. they just slap garish skintight leather on evil hoes, no imagination. shit looks like the clearance section of a sex shop

this right here is prime evil thottery tho. perfect for lewding

oh god, dick ants goes as far as ancient history

that Hal one? really, that's way more boring, they just gave him pauldons and called it a day.

Sexual frustration for what? Her hubby can change into anything and make his penis any size. That is a piss poor excuse.

Have you ever read a FF comic like ever? Reed is so autistic that he spends 24/7 with little regard to the needs of his wife. Go torrent Hickman’s first volume of his FF to see this glorious autism at its highest.

It’s cute

While I am not a big fan of divorce (because most people are lazy and don't want to communicate) outside of real bad shit going down. If she knew he was like this to begin with, why marry him? And before any of you fucker berate me, most people who are poor choices to date or marry show red flags early in a relationship, don't let loneliness and lust blind you to this. She choose poorly.

Is she going commando?

Well no shit, she wasn't even a teenager when she fell in love with him. I assume the hormones, the idea of being with someone so brilliant, and Reed's few charming traits blinded her to the reality of being with a man who lives and breaths science.

Did Jessica Rabbit ever have this kind of makeover in RR's comic book?

Does it count if they wear the same outfits switching rapidly between good and evil and back and back again, but change outfits arbitrarily anyway?

Well, now I know where Lightfoot got his inspiration to draw faces from.

Or maybe Lightfoot influenced that artist.

What is this, a peej for ants?

I always hated this dude's art. His linework is atrocious. Always looks like unfinished pencils.

sure

Then why is the movie such a disaster?

Because Fox

Its a very complicated story, touching a lot of the established Marvel universe, and required the audience to feel connected to her for it to work emotionally.

Jean barely does anything and is not there beyond Scott’s love interest and the first student of Prof X outside of the Phoenix stuff in any of the movies, Scott is barely a character beyond jokes with Wolverine either. No emotional buildup, no emotional payoff.
They didn’t own the rights to a lot of the stuff required for the story, and without establishing that stuff in another movie first you’d have spent half of it familiarizing the audience with who everyone is. Or spent multiple movies introducing and dealing with OC replacements, which would have worked too. Make a Phoenix Trilogy, and have the first mostly about Jean and Scott with some tagalong D-listers.
