Never seen The Venture Bros, is it good ?
Is it purely comedic nonsense ? Or does it actually have adventure like johnny quest and batman tas ?

It's still a comedy overall, especially for the first couple of seasons, but yes, it has genuinely fun action and engaging drama. And character development that actually sticks but doesn't negate the character's appeal.
You heard me. Go back to /pol/ we don't want you to watch the show and then derail threads with off-topic political shit. So fuck off to your containment board
Oh ok, i'm dissapointed
I was looking for a cartoon like ducktales or carmen sandiego
It has tons of adventure, though it tries to lampshade itself as a ‘realistic’ portrayel of all the absurd shit in action cartoons and pulp comics and hero stuff.
A bit more action focused than adventure, but still plenty of adventures. Later on it gets more of an espionage kind of vibe.
Go ahead and give it a watch, it’s fucking great. Know that the first season’s animation is much more limited than other seasons, and they have to somewhat write around that limited animation budget.
This show will take you places.
Oh, but don’t jump around. Things start episodic but don’t stay that way.

Are the characters smart ? I'm looking for a show with very intelligent characters
And i don't mean like jimmy neutron or iron man
More like batman or basil of baker street
/pol/
Why is there a /pol/tard falseflagging in this thread?
You most likely
Something's fishy about this thread but I'm gonna ride it out and see what happens.
A lot of the characters are smart in the sense that they're geniuses, but emotionally pretty dumb. The titular venture bros are pretty stupid, but what makes the show so great is seeing them (as well as the rest of the characters) grow as the seasons go on and develop into more than the cynical johnny quest pastiches they were at the beginning.
I would say so. The only real "dumb" characters are the venture brothers themselves but there's an actual explanation for why they act like 12 year olds. Later on they grow more aware of the world around them and mature, though they still maintain their relatively naive core.
Their dad, Dr Venture is a major focus. He's a lazy egotist who lives in the shadow of his much more successful and charismatic dead father which has given him an immense inferiority complex.
And last there's Brock Samson, Dr Venture's bodygaurd. Arguably the most intelligent member of the Venture clan even though he'sa alsp the most ludicrously violent and brutal character in the show.
There's also his arch nemesis the Monarch and his wife Dr Girlfriend. The Monarch might be the best character in the show. He's one of those villains who starts out as a joke but slowly evolves into one of the best parts of the show. His wife Dr Girlfriend is also great, you'll get used to her voice, and also one of the most intelligent characters in universe .
The writing can be really clever and there’s twists and uses of preestablished information that can be really surprising and well done.
I’m not sure how much of that I can contribute to the characters themselves.
A lot of characters can be experts in their field and absolute dumbshits in every other aspect of their life.
Characters do have longterm plans that come to fruition. That happens more than in-the-moment mcguyver type stuff, but there is a dash of that.
It starts simple and then builds on itself.
At first it's just parody- then each of those parody characters reveals a history- and all of those histories intersect until the shows lore is really deep but it doesn't feel like it's trying to deepest lore. It just does it casually.
Venture Brothers is the best show in the Superhero genre.
But if you want an Yea Forums related show about smart characters- watch LEGION.
>Are the characters smart ? I'm looking for a show with very intelligent characters
Do you differentiate between dumb and insane?
There's a lot of characters that are very clever but are done in by their own tragic obsessions or hang ups.
Dude what you on?
Literally what about Venture Bros could be considered /pol/?
It's less "smart characters" and more "smart writing" that continues to develop on itself over time.
Started out as a parody show, accidentally grew a really good overarching story and lore with some extremely well-written characters. Definitely worth a binge.
*you'll eventually come to violently masturbate to her voice
this, eventually you get to a point where you don't even notice it's a man's voice anymore.
i'm not gay but i'd have sex with doc hammer if he put on a wig and did his dr.girlfriend voice
I wish the new season mocks Rick and Morty
Great description actually
One of the main themes of the show is failure so even "smart" characters end up doing stupid things or not coming out on top when they should. Pretty much every character in the show is deeply flawed in some way whether it's Dr. Venture's inferiority complex or The Monarch's obsession with Dr. Venture which harms both his professional and personal life.
Doc is a pretty intelligent guy, he just can't really live up to the ambitions and innovations set by his late father.
A lot of the Super Scientists are more closer to classic Marvel Scientists.
>an uber nerd like Dean hooked up with both her and Siren
It’s not fair

Boy I hope Venture Bros doesn't stoop down to Rick and Morty's level.
Venture Bros is my favorite show of all time. It does have adventure in it, with some episodes focusing entirely on it, but I wouldn't say it's a big focus of the show.
The writing is as smart as old school Arrested Development at least, and there are smart characters too, but a lot of them will make stupid mistake after stupid mistake because of their personal issues.
God damn she was hot.
