When are we getting a live-action remake of Song of the South?

Haha epic

>It's just two hours of Uncle Remus saying "fuck white people" as woke white journalists applaud.

With a non-/pol/ answer, why do people care about this so much?

>It breaks box office records and wins every award there is

Because black people aren't allowed to be happy during the reconstruction, I guess.

The animation is based and it's seen as the "taboo" Disney film

I think for normies it's because it has that forbidden Disney secret quality. If you haven't seen it it has some nice music and decent animation but nothing outstanding.

Because it's a forbidden Disney movie that at the same time is associated with one of the most popular rides at the theme parks.

>Man remains optimistic despite life of hardship.
>This is somehow racist.

But muh sleigh furry.

Song of the South is a pretty safe movie and the first to blend live action with animation. Looney Tunes did it first, but Disney made a feature length movie about it.

Because it's provocative to bring up jeez

The lead actor, James Baskett, was the first black man ever to receive an Oscar. I bet none of you knew that.

Why are Americans so fucking obsessed with shit that happened 200 years ago?

Like, move on retatds

There really isn’t a non-pol on Yea Forums since poltards run it now. It’s man-children who really want to shriek NIGGER! in somebody’s face and not get their teeth knocked out for it.

I’m old enough to have seen Song. It genuinely is innocuous children’s fare that will bore most adults. The weird context of an old black man telling fables to white children is only obvious in retrospect. If you want the experience of watching Song, hunt down So Dear To My Heart, which is about as slow. So Dear has more rudimentary animated interludes, which is why it’s not as well remembered. I think you can still find the animated chunks of Song online, just intersperse them into So Dear. Or watch them by themselves. That saves you a lot of time and boredom.

That's the problem. We would LIKE to move on, but the minorities that had their great great great great great great great great great great great grandparents look for every opportunity to shove these events down our throats and never let us live it down.

Culture was a mistake.

>great grandparents suffer from those times
It's late.

This. A remake that made more obvious his struggles and escapes into fantasy as a way of escaping them would be a way for Disney to address it finally but it ain't gonna happen. I feel Remus just tries to love all life - the times may be tough but he's grateful for living - so him sharing stories with white kids is him planting a seed that the next generation won't be tarred with racism. Addressing that would maybe improve 'problematic' elements, and add some nice Zootopia-esque cg for the story parts, heck, traditional animation if possible.

rather have Who framed Roger Rabbit remake, fuck disney.

>Wanting to ruin Roger Rabbit with CGI just so you can get some big titted actress to play Jessica, knowing that Disney wouldn't do that in the first place
