Is it me or does the YJ version of Livewire make her absolutely weak. Back here she was able to pull Freakazoid bullshit and download herself into electronic equipment in her “logia form.” Not to mention she was able to hurt Superman. In YJ, she was knocked out by fucking electricity and she can’t even turn herself into lightning.

For starters, lots of people survive lightning strikes, being struck by lightning has a fairly low mortality rate, ~10-20%. Secondly, the lightning strike activated her metagene.

Nah, it probably just activated her latent metagene. The lightning hitting Superman was just to establish that it hurts him.
A traumatic accident being the catalyst for a metagene developing powers is probably the same reason Rudy turned into Parasite instead of just melting, or how Volcana got her powers.
