A Sonic comic going slow would just be paradoxical, and I'm pretty sure it's doing its own thing while drawing influences from the games.

The comic IS going slow. It takes a year to finish a single arc that really only needs half that.

basically the writer plans the comic a year at a time, with each year getting its own dedicated storyline

The Annual (which has a buncha different studios from a buncha different writers) is the best issue so far. The upcoming mini also looks neat

Is this just IDW's current strategy? Because the rebooted Transformers comics are on a serious slow burn too.

Yes, it comes off as laziness to avoid planning more stories in a year.

>Why does it conveniently disregard a bunch of stuff from the games?

Because Sonic Forces is the most relevant game in the franchise according to Sega

Actually it was Flynn who decided to base the comic on Forces.

I think it was both

Flynn said in a Q&A it was him.

>Why does it conveniently disregard a bunch of stuff from the games?
Are you being serious?

The soft-reboot Archie issues were already borrowing a bunch of elements from the Sonic games such as locations from Adventure 1 and Unleashed. It was still cancelled, and there's now the IDW Sonic that perhaps borrows even more game elements to the point that there's only little new content exclusive to the comic, and you STILL keep complaining that it's "conveniently disregarding a bunch of stuff from the games"?

Again, are you actually being serious? And by the way, why in the world are you still following this new awful series?

Why are you reading that shitty fanfic-tier comic? Read archiesoniconline.

While I agree with you, you could have saged this thread, you know.

Why isn't shadow so far doing cool spotlight stealing shit like he did in sonic boom and being slowly turned into Knux 2.0.

Where is GUN?
Where are all the familiar locations?

>doing its own thing
Which would've given them a lot more to work with that can fill 2 years of the comic more than
> drawing influences from the games.
Which is the primary problem people has with this comic and Flynn: It;s apparently a companion book to the games, but has no ties to the larger legacy of the franchise that would have enticed older readers, nor does it spin the franchise in any interesting direction that would incentives new readers to prioritize a Sonic comic over anything else in the racks.

I mean, real talk, the only reason I think IDW Sonic got such media coverage in the beginning is because compared to the massive continuity gate of Archie, a Sonic comic based on the games was a nice novelty that has since worn out it's welcome.

And they only made that a novelty because what OP and all the other normies really wanted was another Sonic MegaDrive and more Classic Sonic faggotry. This comic was doomed the minute it was revealed to be Modern.

What about the shit writing and dialogue not going to talk about that.

we just assume everyone already knows

I like Modern Sonic but a lot of the recent stories have been crap.
I liked TSR though.

Ironic edgelord Shadow is complete cancer, and nukes the character development he’s had over the series. Go to the Sonic twitter if you want that shit.

On Earth.

all his character development past his death in SA2 was more cancerous to the franchise than a bunch of memes.

Honestly, him trying his hand at being more based like Knux is too good for him. He should've just died at SA2.
