Champions #7 Preview

Is this confirmed canned? Zub went on his twitter rant but that was after issue 1and him just hating piracy.

Also didn't notice the trip was dropped from the second post.

I think Champions would be better of they cut some of the team or did a West and East coast sort of deal.

I like the big team it's basically the main cast plus rotating supporters filling in the gaps for things like Miles getting emotional and bailing.

The cover does say it's about recovering Sam's helmet, so I'd guess these pages are only the backup story.
I don't think that would fly considering how impatient Marvel editorial is getting with smaller titles. Plus I'm sure Cosmic Ghost Rider needs another mini ;)

It's not confirmed, it's just speculation from Rich the Leech but Champions keeps shedding numbers so I am not surprised if it does get cancelled.

I think the team getting cut would be good. I know Zub wants to do a Legion of Superheroes type of thing but even then he introduces characters over characters and doesn't bother developing some of them. People also primarily care about Kamala, Miles, Sam, Viv, Nadia, and Sam so just focus on them and have a rotating member spot.

Chip originally wanted to tell a Namor story which the Editors made him turn into an Invaders story. He also said that he had told the story he wanted and would only stay for more if Invaders had significantly high sales but it's really not a case of him getting cancelled.

Zub doesn't really care about Sam and the way he's doing this story and judging by the solicits I wouldn't put it past him to do this as a way of phasing Sam out of the team.

Champions actually jumped 3k from April to May if it can work it's way to at least the 22k mark it'll probably be kept alive off Trade Sales.

You're overreacting, he does like Sam or else he wouldn't focus so many issues on him, even from before the relaunch. This arc exists precisely to give him a boost of sorts.

He's gonna lose the helmet again and there's gonna be some bullshit about him not needing it, isn't there?

I mean, fuck me, I hated the Jesse Alexander story arc, but still - from an in-universe perspective that's his dad's helmet. His entire arc throughout his first solo was the impossible task of living up to the legacy of Rich and the Corps. I don't want them to pander to Matt and his CBN cronies just because they can't stand the idea of there being more than one Nova.

I've been saying since last year that Marvel should take this opportunity to redesign Sam.

Maybe one day this suit will make a comeback.

I wouldn't get my hopes up. That was the return of Cyclops and the tie in for a major event. It was a guaranteed bump

We'll know for certain when the sales report for June come out. West Coast Avengers dipped lower than Champions with better art and it was allowed to get to 10 issues, maybe this will get at least to three trades long if it sells.

I could buy most of these, but Brawnhammer and Wicked Wasp just didn't feel like Cho or Nadia at all.

Sam and Nadia thought that they were siblings.

Wonder if that'll ever be touched on again.
