Red She-Hulk had potential, marvel just couldn't seem to figure out what they wanted to do with Betty. In some stories, She's like Banner where Red is her own thing that Betty doesn't really have control over, in other stories she's like Jenn where she stays in control, but just loses her inhibitions. First she was flat out villain, then redeemed, then in defenders a fun loving adventurer, then Parker tried to make her more serious again in her canceled book, and then Marvel just said, "fuck it, there are too many hulks" and de-powered her.

I don't really like the monstrous version of Betty, but Immortal Hulk can do whatever the hell it wants, and I'll just enjoy the ride.

I think that's the whole point of this arc though. Right now she's tired of being nice and just wants to go apeshit, so her Hulk form reflects that. My problem with it is that it comes so soon after her last run where she was trying for dear life not to change. I prefer old Jen, but I also understand writers want to try stuff sometimes. That said, this is serious characterization whiplash for people that actually follow the character. This is a She Hulk for people who don't like She Hulk. Ironically, the MCU Hulk just went through the reverse, and I much prefer him as a character right now.

Unfortunately, that's just the culture now. People want to draw battle lines everywhere, and that includes what kind of art/entertainment you like. If you like this run, you're some radical feminist, if you hate it, you're a Trump voter. Neither of those things has to be true, but people have convinced themselves if you aren't with me, you're against me. Straddling the fence doesn't work for every issue in society, but it sure fucking does for comic book opinions. I'm the one who first brought up Tamaki in this thread . I brought up her run to illustrate the point of how quickly Aaaron undid her fixing of the character and how long Jen has been stuck more or less in this status quo. I didn't call her an SJW or compare her to Riviera. I can give credit when credit is due. She was telling a story about Jen over coming traumatic experiences that caused her to lose control and ultimately restored her to her normal self. Unlike Aaaron who just shit on the old version of her and giving her fans a blatant F you with the blatant sex negativity of Jen giving up on therapy and going back to her old self because she suddenly hates men finding her attractive. This bullshit needs to be pushed back against and fixed asap. And my biggest fear is that this isn't just Aaaron being a hack but marvel trying to change She-hulks image and perception going back to CWII. We want classic Jen back and we want her soon.

I can make distinction between Tamaki's take on it and Aaron, but their really isn't anyway around the the fact the last issue of Avengers basically was saying "classic Jen was bad because men found her attractive, new dumb brute jen is better because she's not". Aaron is not likely to restore Jen to normal after shitting on her like the last issue which raises the question of where and when or even if she's going to be brought back to her classic self.
