Steven Universe

Do kids actually even watch this?

It seems like it's just tumblrites and Yea Forumsncer.

user Yea Forums is filled with kids so yeah kids watch it

Manchildren don't count

I tried to watch it. I found it comfy at first, boring at last. The end credits piano song is the only thing I appreciate of this shoddy cartoon

>reruns only air at 6 AM
>hiatuses last forever
What do you think, user?

Then no, no children other than Yea Forumsmblrinas and Manchildren watch this series.

Watching this as a normal series throughout was pitiful and awfully paced. Only good thing to come out of this shit was Lapis, the Blue Diamond porn, Amethyst's big tits and the soundtrack that Sucrose composed very well.

So Sucrose is a failure at spreading the faggotry

/pol/ wins

good
now go back

>spreading /pol/praganda

Target demographic

I never said that. If anything, Becky did a fantastic job with Ruby and Sapphire, Garnet trying to be one person with two minds and living with the strengths/weaknesses of others were beautifully executed. But as soon as they revealed that they were a fusion by Jailbreak, we didn't get another backstory until the Memebarn arc. It's forgettable unless you are a hardcore shipper or are REALLY deep into the show. You can feel how rushed and lazy they were to do with that entire wedding sequence. No one wanted that, all they wanted was Blue and Yellow's arrival on Earth. It was so lazily pitched and spaced, that it wasn't redeeming at all.

Are all /pol/tards like this?

>faggotly executed
>faggot wedding

SUtards BTFO

Based. Anyone who unironically watches and enjoys steven universe is a colosal faggot

90% sure they do, but you only hang out here so you only know the demographic here.

>He doesn't know just about everyone on Yea Forums is a 14 year old girl pretending to be a 20-something year old man

Nice try, but women don't use the internet

Pearl has the best lines in this show. She's insane, but probably one of my favorites. I didn't like this show that much at first, but by the time questions about rose/pink started happening, I was coming back for more of the mystery.

Explain /cgl/ then

It's all traps

Based retards.

prove it

well I know there are plenty of manchildren

The wedding is actually part of the plot if you bothered to watch the previous episodes.

>>hiatuses last forever
>What do you think, user?

One thing that I don't get: SUfags will insist that it's one of CN's highest rated shows, and when you point out the massive ratings declines, people will screech that CN's are down channel-wide and that Teen Titans GO's ratings fell harder.

If SU is so valuable to the network, how come Teen Titans Go is always running and SU isn't?

It doesn't have characters and events that grow and change over the course of five seasons. You can just put any old TTG episode on and it won't matter when the kids tune in.

That ratings thing is true btw, TTG has dropped hard recently.

but
>faggot wedding
like I said, SUtards BTFO

>massive ratings declines
people realize that it was never that good

>people will screech
SU's fans are largely from tumblr. Screeching is the only way they can communicate.

>teen titans go is always running
it makes merchandise money

>"Do kids even watch this?"
>"Yes."
>"Shut the fuck up you tranny faggot!!11!!"
I miss the times when SU hate threads were more subtle. You're not even trying /pol/.

yes

subtlety allows the trannies to weasel their way in

see

a horrible leftist must have infiltrated /pol/

it's the start of the weekend and there's a lot of over flow from the Yea Forums posters shitting up the board about crappy live action disney movies.

I've never seen anyone IRL who said they watched Steven Universe who wasn't a teenager or college-aged. Not that I've gone around asking everyone or anything; just that those times I've heard actual kids I've worked with, like first through third grade, mention on their own what cartoons they're into, I've never heard SU even mentioned.

Cartoons I have heard kids mention were Sofia the First/Elena of Avalor, Gumball, and Loud House, for reference. Also Pokémon if anime counts. I don't doubt at all that some of them watch or have watched SU, but I haven't heard them talk about it or seen anyone under about 14 with merchandise.

SU doesn't have toys

I don't even mean toys though. I just mean like clothes or some accessory or something linked to the show, which I actually have seen teenagers with a lot.

Maybe that kind of thing just isn't found in stores younger kids would normally go to, I dunno.

SU merch is in Hot Topic 100% of the time

Books too. Kinda fitting since Rebecca is a writer and did a comic before SU.

actual answer not by a meme tard, su merch is generally sold in hot topic and comic/book shops and via online, there's a rather small plush and toy line outside of figurines, but most of su's merch sales are in figurines, apparel, and soundtrack/supplementary sales.

this is why CN never airs it

it doesn't rake in teen titans go money

I think the music and songs in general are the most consistently good part of this series

I like to think there are going to be loads of kids with a taste for the STICC.

Attached: Pearl is Wet.png (627x737, 188K)

It's the characters that keep me coming back first and foremost. Then you got the lore (separate from the story), the music, the story, the action and everything else.

Basically I like everything about it give or take a few criticisms here or there.

Lapis is too sexual for children

Attached: hanging around.png (1356x2560, 826K)

>If SU is so valuable to the network, how come Teen Titans Go is always running and SU isn't?
It's a show with heavy continuity. The reason why TTG and Gumball are so excessively spammed is because the shows have little-to-no continuity and you can watch the episodes in any order.

hopefully there will be just as many kids who grow to appreciate giant women

Attached: 0c322287022b15e7c12ea5c6182a4692.png (472x724, 259K)

She should be kept away from children in general. Just think of the awful, immoral things she would do to innocent little boys.

Bitch

Bitch

None of my nieces and nephews watch it, several never even heard of it. My niece has a shirt, but only because she likes the color scheme, she assumed it was an old cartoon from the 80s, and she isn't averse to older cartoons either, as she frequently borrows my DVDs of Jem and Transformers.

It's plainly obvious that Sugar couldn't care less about appealing to kids, just Tumblrinas.

That's weird to me because SU doesn't look anything like a cartoon from the 80s

same thing here, most of the show is boring, and the interesting parts have bad resolutions, it's a bad show, it's boring as an episodic show and badly written as plot drive one, and just bad, not the worst but it's not good or even competent

I work at a school, and yes, kids do like it. But they also like Yea Forums stuff more, like JoJo and Boku no Hero. The biggest pull was during season 3-4, now that is "over" things have declined a lot.

The show flows much better when you watch it in one go. It's obviously not perfect but I've binged it once or twice and a lot of the jank sort of melts away and you actually get what they're going for.

this is a make believe, if SU is so popular why it does not have dozens of marathons like Gumball and TTG?

Explained here

Kids really don't like the show. It's boring, zero action, nothing is funny, and everyone cries a lot which comes off as weird.

It rally is older teens and adults who watch it.

Ehh it's fairly humorous, just in a sensible chuckle kind of way instead of hyperactive non-stop zaniness that is TTG.

except if it was a marathon, they could show the episodes in order

SUtards BTFO

She has barely appeared in the show at all for two seasons now

now all we need is for all the other characters to never appear and we're good

It attracts nonstop praise from every corner of social media each and every time it is on. It's a mix of dedicated fans that are super into it, the virtue signal crowd that do not watch it but are proud that it is something that exists since it advertises alternative relationships on kids tv, and clickbait media for the same reason, advertises gay and trans in a kids show and not as a joke. so it has endless talk when it does appear. Also the inclusion narrative has gained several awards so they can advertise that it's an award winning series (while not really saying what awards and for what reason) But it does not have casual mainstream viewership from people who genuinely like it as a show and just want to watch something.

So that skews everyone's idea of how successful the show really is when each time a new bomb comes on it is praised as award winning genius tv every single time everywhere for days and days. So it seems like a ridiculously successful show.

Attached: 787MUcAUDCfc.jpg (736x556, 59K)

Most shows don't these days, outside of preschool aged kids shows.

There is almost no toys for any of the major shows like Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, Gumball, nothing except for hipster tier shit found at Hot Topic for teens and older.

>she assumed it was an old cartoon from the 80s

i have seen this happen a few times with modern shows, kids assume it's some older thing that is retro cool now.

>attracts SJW praise
>leftist media loves it

tl;dr

that's the gist of it yea

Normally that's not enough to keep a show afloat but steven U is really cheap so it works out for them

Thanks to CalArts

No it doesn't. Also rebecca comes on here to post su threads and fish for compliments and then defend the show when the thread goes critical.

Having started this thread, I can say I came here hoping people would criticize the show.

~ not Rebecca

P.S. SUtards BTFO

>So that skews everyone's idea of how successful the show really is

This is the best sentence of the post (The whole post was good, but this part really hits it home). SU's popularity is really distorted thanks to clickbait, fan artist, and waifu appeal. It's like if an outsider who knew nothing only glanced at the amount of Kickstarter money Cans Without Label got ($136,723 so you don't have to Google), they would just assume it must have a very big fanbase and be a high budget short film.

True normally it would fall into the same trap as the rest of the "Get Woke, Go Broke" scene, but the incredibly cheap corner cutting quality of the show actually allows for it to keep on going for several years.

>Is in every major arc
>Has multiple episodes featuring or starring her
>Barely in the show
At least pretend like you watch it.

A marathon of the whole show? Or an entire 3/4's season in one sitting? That's a bit much even for TTG.

26 episodes * 11 = ~280 minutes

280 minutes = 4.7 hours

If you look at CN's TTG-based schedule, you'll see that isn't much

Maybe not, but that almost 5 hours is almost 5 hours without showing Teen Titans Go and we can't have that now can we.

Attached: 8f4.png (1198x1203, 304K)

Well at least TTG doesn't spread faggotry like SU...

or does it? I haven't seen it in years now

Yes, Beast Boy is gay and Robin is trans.

I've seen enough to know robin is not trans

Kids dont watch cartoonsm

I never got people who're hung up on ratings, whether it's about anime or cartoons. All I care about is if the ratings are high enough for a thing I like to keep getting made, and it's already confirmed that SU is

To be fair it won a Peabody award. Gladd is one thing but the PB is a good 'un.

Sure. They can drive and would probably post footage of training with Pearl so that'd be fun to catch.

Quiet woman.

you're stupid enough to entertain trannies

I thought this was Yea Forums where we wanted them gone

You missed the latest newsletter. We want you gone specifically and also you're a tranny yourself now. You know, since pronouns don't matter.

there's a Yea Forums newsletter?

Why would I follow someone who only exists once in a while?

you don't understand how twitter works

you don't actually read about who you follow

What do you do with Twitter then?

trigger SJWs

Intersex is a medical term

I'm referring to the "experience" part as tumblr buzzwords

Speaking from experience?
Yeah they do. Speaking as someone who works at an elementary school, kids from 3rd-5th really like the characters of the show and are familiar with them. It's a show, with weird alien girls and a kid, and some songs and occasional action bits and "oh boy is the green one funny". They also don't really quite have the fandom level attachment to it, something that can be attributed to haituses, but I doubt it, since yeah they don't even have that much attachment to things like Teen Titans Go.

The kids where I work seem to do a much better job following superheroes and anime. They really seem to be more into the characters and characters in general. Tons of kids into Black Panther, Superman, Batman, Sonic, Spiderman, SpiderGwen, Wonderwoman, and yeah even Ms. Marvel surprisingly compared to Captain Marvel. There was one 4th grade kid who would not stop going on about Madara whomever that is. Like traditional fandom stuff seems more often to spring from sports and videogames. Players or even the very act of playing b-ball, or how "Cool Mortal Kombat looks" or "The horses can go poop in Red Dead" and even playing pretend Subnautica.

I'll freely admit that they just might not be old enough to get to the point of liking things a whole lot. But being able to pick and choose what they play and watch whenever might have a role in them gravitating towards certain videogames and comics-y stuff. There was one kid graduating into middle school who was trying to sell me on the Umbrella Academy at one point, in the same breath as some zombie show with some pretty boys in it. Needless to say they were wowed at A) Oh shit its a comic book? and B)What's MCR?

as a side note, I know it's in the show
but it's the kind of thing I see on tumblr pages with their freaking weird sexualities

I'd prefer if the kids didn't get faggoted

The experience part is because Stevonnie is a fusion

More like adults with the minds of kids

SU is awful on rewatch, most episodes don’t actually stand up on their own. That’s why you keep hearing “SU is good when you binge watch it”

see

Watch people ree about retarded shit nobody cares about.

Binge watch is recommended so you don't forget small character details more than anything else. The amount of Yea Forums posts I've seen where they'll be arguing something didn't happen (when it actually did) or someone did something (when they didn't) is mindblowing.

Pure sex

waifu appeal ?, the characters of this SU are disgusting to look

Jap found

It actually won the award on the basis of being "The most culturally enlightening children's show" so it really was for the same reasons as listed above

For great reasons? I agree. It definitely deserved the award.

>for faggotry
dilate tranny

Ending was hot garbage. What a waste of character development.

How does one waste character development exactly. Everyone was in-character and acted as they should. Are you referring to pacing? Because yes that arc desperately needed a few more episodes.

Steven Universe is a pretty comfy show and Yea Forums's "leftist propaganda" allegations were pretty fucking overblown, if I'm being honest. Then again, Yea Forums has constantly been shown to have shit taste.

Attached: __amethyst_garnet_pearl_rose_quartz_universe_and_steven_quartz_universe_steven_universe_drawn_by_t_k (1000x972, 1.66M)

This art style looks like it's from those gay Dove anti-bullying commercials. Is this real or an edit?

It's real.

But it's so confusing.

>Intersex
>Non-binary

You can't be both because intersex doesn't have a binary condition to begin with.

>They/Them
But everyone says "she" in the show, they don't even respect her own preferred pronouns.

It really looks like a Tumblrina just copied today's trendy identity terms without thinking about it. Never thought I'd see that cringe in SU officially. I know SU attracts those kinds of people, but up until I guess that Dove commercial, it never acted like the communities who love it.

>Experience intersex

The hell does that mean? They're experienced at being a hermaphrodite? And I experienced at being a man?

Non-binary just means they're not male or female, they're both. That's gender. Intersex is a biological thing as far as I'm aware.

>Everyone says she in the show
No they don't, Stevonnie has always been referred to as them.

Actually that's a poor explanation of non-binary. This explains it better.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-binary_gender

Non-binary means they don't follow gender roles, not that they don't have one. Agender means you don't have a gender.

Yeah that was my bad, sorry.

SU feels like it's designed in every element to appeal to the socially woke reblogging crowd. It doesn't have to be good, it just has to be important.

Clarence showed three different families with wildly different and believable experiences. Clarence's mom was divorced and he bonded with her new boyfriend. Jeff has two moms. Sumo is basically poor white trash where his family frequently fights and it's not the happiest of homes.

Yet, I guess because they don't have an alien tranny character literally sparkling on-screen while every character says how amazing they are for existing, no one gives a shit.

Clarence needs more fucking love. That show actually demonstrates believable, down-to-Earth characters that make you love the mundane world.

Attached: jeffs-moms-uncropped.jpg (701x337, 62K)

>so you don't forget small character details

Such as?

no one watches this ever since it got axed you dumbass

You really think I'm gonna list every incidental bit of character development over 5 seasons for characters you'll call shit anyway? Nigga please.

This cynical shit does not help endear people to Clarence. If anything it looks 10x more annoying than SU and you've just ruined it for people. SU is many things but it is definitely sincere, and so is Clarence so maybe put things into perspective.

>and you've just ruined it for people
Yeah, I'm sure I just soured all of Yea Forums on a show that ended a long time ago and if people haven't checked it out now, there's a big chance they won't, faggot.

Well at least now I know Clarence is neither good or important and the only reason you brought it up at all is for a cheap excuse to shit on another show. Great job, really showing your conviction there user. Don't even believe in what you're saying, SMFH.

>I convinced some thin-skinned retard not to check out a show because he couldn't stomach that it was compared to SU

You sound like a little bitch who has to be told what to watch to begin with if a single person's post tells you to completely ignore a show altogether.

Yea Forums is full of manchildren

The dilation station is that way

>tranny pronouns

"They" has been a pronoun before transsexuals existed

this.

let me rephrase that for you
>using they to refer to a single person

That's what I was referring to. Singular they has existed forever for someone whose gender you don't know. Like "who emptied my chamber pot into the dining hall? I will arrest them"

Mah nigga

The vast majority of trannies don't use "they" because the whole point of transitioning is you want to be male or female and weren't born the right one

Getting mad about Stevonnie being intersex and nonbinbary doesn't make sense no matter what your politics are. They're the result of a process that fuses a boy and a girl into one person, what else do you expect to happen lol
