John's heroic duty and role has sort of put a severe limiter on his ability to be a good parent. It's like Link saving Hyrule, then immediately after is told "thanks, all your combat skill and heroic destiny are no longer needed. Go have a kid." John married and had a kid with Roxy because that's what he thought was supposed to make him happy, now that he's beaten all the bad guys and they won the game and everything, at 16 years of age. But it didn't. He never resolved his previous identity, and because he was mostly a spectator or fixer instead of an active participant, he never found direction for his life.

For John, even though he didn't quite understand it, being a hero is everything to him. More important than programming, or comedy, or shitty movies. He grew up empty, in wanting of the extraordinary, and Sburb gave him exactly what he wanted. And now that's become such a critical part of him that throwing it away is tantamount to suicide.

Contrasting this is Roxy, who grew up with the extraordinary, isolated from other people and wanting companionship. She never had much attachment to her powers or role, so it was very easy for her to give up the role Sburb gave her in exchange for a normal life, raising a son. So much that Roxy is literally the only human hero to not use any Sburb powers at all in the epilogue. Everyone else does to some extent. Her ideal of a paradise was not John's, and only with John sacrificing a fundamental part of himself could he find some happiness with her too. Otherwise it wasn't the orientations that were incompatible, but the personalities.

John doesn't need a harem. One girl is enough. What John needs is a questgiver, someone to give him a heroic role to play, and remind him to be the best he can be with the life he's grown up as. And Terezi does that amazingly well.

Karkats arc didnt bother me too much, what got me was how Terezi dropped a potential relationship with Karkat or Dave out of nowhere

I peed next to Hussie in an Emerald City Comic Con bathroom a couple of years back. I didn't want to seem gay, so I looked away from him. Unfortunately, he seemed to notice. "What's wrong?" he asked. "Afraid of a little penis in your life?" he continued as he went to lock the bathroom door. "Don't you know about the Gay Singularity?" I gulped. Hussie started stripping, and took his shirt off. He got some soap from the dispenser, and started rubbing it on his chest. He then went to take off his pants. I froze in place. I had no idea what to do. Suddenly, there was a knocking at the door. "Andrew, are you in there?" said a voice in a Canadian accent. Hussie opened the door. Ryan North popped his head in. "Our hotel room is ready, Andrew." He then scurried off. Hussie looked straight at me and said "Wait right here, I'll be back in a little bit." He left the room. I stood in place for about a minute, and then I ran as fast as I could out of the convention center. I still have trouble sleeping at night, for fear Hussie might find me and finish what he started.

Karkat was too jealous and stubborn, and Dave refused to help her with her issues.

How can you hope to hide from him when he is already here

I always understood the Dave issue as Dave not liking the quandrant thing, and what put him off was her Kismestitude with Gamzee. But thats pre retcon so idk about post retcon

Vriska stole Terezi's attention and Dave and Karkat got fucking bored and hung out with each other.

If the economy wasn't so retarded and the god's didn't have unlimited money then John would have acted differently in the Candy timeline because he would have needed to provide for his family. He needed structure to pull him back, something simple that would remind him of what's important. Something like a job, something he can work 8 hours a day then go ho to his loving family and a nice dinner and surprise his son with a small gift he worked a few hours extra to get. But no, John doesn't need to worry about things like basic needs and quality life because he has everything he could possibly want and now he wants nothing from the mundane.

Nothing's stopping John and Terezi from becoming God-King and -Queen of Paradox Space. A grandiouse title needs a grandious team.

Neither will be deleted, only archived.

Really, when making the new world the kids should have either also made fake identities so they could hide amongst the humans and trolls, or ruled as gods. The path they chose of just being celebrities while not really doing anything was disastrous, and all that attention led to them drifting apart.

Vriska is the Thief of Light, Light is the aspect of relevance. How do you expect her to fulfill her role and steal relevance when she's already relevant? Of course she's in a doomed timeline, and she stopped mattering. Fow now. But wait until her Thief of Light nature brings her back. It's only a matter of time.

If you think the Thief of Light stealing John's phone and Terezi contact, effectively stealing the only way the Candy timeline can still matter in regards to canon, is a coincidence, you're dead wrong. Her contacting Terezi is definitely going to have some impact on the Meat timeline, where Terezi is. Maybe she'll just talk her out of Dirk's control, maybe she'll go as far as dooming the Meat timeline. In any case, Vriska is clearly not done mattering.

However, feel free to continue your denial. Your tears of disappointment will be all the more sweeter! ::::)
