Good evening owls,
F
Hello, Storyteller.
The Justice League manga got translated at last, and someone storytimed it. The artist is apparently a fujoshi, and it shows. The sheer amount of thirst radiating off the page if hilarious.
excellent
lol, I'm clicking around the catalog and I see Yea Forums has also discovered tumblr antis who call everything 'pedophilia'
I thought, like a fool, no one would order food on the 4th. Lmao. Kill me
Immortal Hulk continues to be great. Justice League is fun too even though Yea Forums hates it because it’s not the right new ideas and OCs. Bendis brought back Rose and Throne in a funny way that I’m sure everyone here hates bc Bendis. Haven’t read much else cause I’m tired. I close but when I go to sleep at 3/4 my body still wakes me up at like 9 and won’t let me go back to sleep.
people are evil, user
I have to conclude that Wild Storm didn't have nearly enough Zealot, and the Authority figures totally hijacked the book from the CATS and I resent that.
speaking of someone who got shafted...
Hey OP.
I still think Alex made it. Professor Creepy knew about interdimensional travel, remember.
Ah dang, the pirate captain wasn't invited, even though he's the one who reintroduced Alex to society.
have a page of kink, everyone
Caitlyn, the only way for you to get over your dead dad is to get blitzed and bang your father-figure.
Drinking even more than usual trying to make it through family shit
I saw that, was hoping for interesting Wondie shit but it got me interested in what Japan thought of Marvel and DC, went down a pixiv yaoi hole
>pixiv
wew lad, there's some wacky shit to be found out there
My mind went to a bad place when she said "hide this little worm".
Of course the Authority was going to hijack the book, thise were Ellis's babies. Why would he write about the characters that WEREN'T his thinly veiled crypto-fascist OCs.
;___;
>Crypto-fascist, but friendly!
Wow. I relate a lot to that, Roxy. This book can get fuckin' real when it wants to.
Oh hey, it's the character who's supposed to be the main villain. Much as I reluctantly enjoy Gen-13, Ivana is easily the weakest part of it. She's meant to be their archenemy, but she barely appears or does anything.
And you say Claremont takes over writing at some point?
I can't see it.
our next issue changes writers
don't spoil yourself
>was hoping for interesting Wondie shit
It's odd how normal Diana looks in the manga. After seeing all the guys get the fujo treatment, I was hoping for her to have a hilarious waifubait design. But nope, she just looks like Diana.
I am 100% expecting her and the OC kid to have an ~ara ara~ Wonder Mommy moment at some point though.
That last Superbook storytime had someone angry about Rose and Thorn being used in a Superbook.
The newer incarnations of her fucking appeared in the Lois Lane book back in the day, and she got a push in the 1990s triangle era
>I was hoping for her to have a hilarious waifubait design
Why would she? You literally just said the artist is a fujo.
Fujos are my kind of folk so I assumed they'd love Wondie, should have realized that the B in BL was the most important part
What are you reading right now /thread/?
A Pierre Burton book on the CNR, MUCH more slowly than I'd prefer.
Legion Archives
>So, in an alternate universe, I became a genocidal dictator? ... Yeah, that makes sense.
I love that he just straight up admits it. Damn, John.
I dunno, it's a fanservice manga written and drawn by a perv. After laughing my ass off at handsome daddy Gordon, Diana not having the same treatment was kinda disappointing.
Like, this even gave Alfred, ALFRED, the bishie makeover.
I thought they’d just be mad Bendis made her too edgy or some shit
Edgier than Simone's Thorn with the crazy Irish murder personality?
Despite what weeaboos would tell you, the Japanese aren't magical equal opportunists, people have preferences there as well.
Reading some Reboot LoSH.
It's darker than I expected given that it's been refereed to as "archie legion."
I was reading the two trades, but haven't decided to continue yet (swapping series' issue by issue)
>I was reading the two trades, but haven't decided to continue yet (swapping series' issue by issue)
But the Legionnaires trades have the two ongoings collected?
Hold onto your asses, everyone
Shoulda banged him while you had the chance, Kat.
It's a shame that despite all the stuff Goodwin did, I'll never be able to think of him without remembering him in that Zero Hour commercial going "he's Fate-- the Doctor is OUT!"
Uhh, this is going to be a tonal shift
Belly of Paris and weekly comics. I haven’t dove into back issues in a minute. I’ve got a decent stack of trades by my bed too to get to (Adventure Zone, Age of Bronze 2, Black Monday Murders)
>the Japanese aren't magical equal opportunists,
Oh, I am all too aware of that. Fucking Bandai/Sunrise and its demand for fujobait Gundam every time all the time.
... The Goon? Okay, sure. Why the fuck not.
>no Majestic
so gay
>Joe Casey
Is this one gonna be as edgy as his CATS?
Claremont's run is the worst in this entire franchise, Lobdell is a better writer than him
Bendis is unironically doing a better Superman than Tomasi fans can comprehend
90s X-Men spin-offs and Dilbert
probably!
>CASEY
is this about how pop culture is bad
faces are great
It is Maguire's greatest strength.
*proceeds to write big pop culture characters*
ultimately, every Joe Casey book is about how the audience is dumb and should like more Joe Casey books
Is it just law that every team has to have a token dumbass who insists on radiating raw stupidity in all directions? Fuck, even the Justice League has Hal, but at least Hal is courteous enough to shut his fucking mouth every now and then. Grunge just refuses to shut the hell up.
one of my favorite hypocrites
this isn't even, idk, goofy dumb fun
I finished the trades, and those were collected in order.
I'm lazy, so now that those are done, I need to look up a reading order from this point on.
The second trade ended with the Lightning Lord arc
every face is perfect, gosh he's talented
I have been feeling the urge to re-read some classic Levitz/Giffen LOSH. I miss the organic feel of the team, how anyone could have an adventure with anyone else, and how they were grownups with some history
I have no idea who this rando is
I don't think they've collected more since, aside from the DnA stuff that goes right at the end
Apparently he only exists in this issue
this is dumb Casey is dumb, forcing kids to read his books would be an effective D.A.R.E. campaign
>and how they were grownups with some history
Pretty sure we've discussed this before, but the Legion has always simultaneously benefited and suffered from being disconnected from the main DCU. On the one hand, they get to do their own stuff without having to conform to event bullshit. On the other, they get less exposure because they don't make a ton of cameos in other books.
Characters moving forward and doing new things is very rare these days. And the Legion is one of the few IPs that has linear development as a standard feature.
I'd read a Gen13/LoSH crossover
these fucking Maguire faces, they're expressive but they just don't work for these goofy JSC kids
I like it lol
Shit, Bobby looks like he got in on the ground floor of Donkeysauce.
And Grunge got taller.
Kingsnake Jake looks remarkably less of an alcoholic train wreck than Jake the Snake.
this plot is just random, even for Gen13
I miss Constantine's literal aging history, even though the last four years with Milligan were really rough
I’ve only read his issues..
>straight out of a CFNM fantasy
I spy a grifter!
Cole's luscious, flowing blond mane is recognizable from planets away.
That's really unfortunate. He created a character who, according to the real life aging of Constantine, literally was not born when Hellblazer started publication.
Then they fell in love, and married. Even though he was pushing sixty at the time, and she was around twenty. Milligan even had the nerve to bring out all of John's former lovers, and have them tell him that the new girl is the only one he really loves.
It was waifuism on a scale I haven't seen since Terry/Donna.
If Milligan didn't completely turn you off, definitely read the Delano material at the beginning. Unless you don't like anarchist hippies.
>making the world a safer place for free enterprise and social darwinism
What is ' the most unnecessary organization ever'? I mean, pardon the OMG POLITICS, but modern civilization has almost always been designed from the ground up as a system that rewards the rich for being rich. What the hell is even the point of this "service"?
Seriously, what is this shit?
I love Grifter's name
"Cole Cash"
How can something be so funny it's cool
it's one of the best capeshit names ever
No letters, but also...this was mercifully a one-shot
Thanks for reading, my good owls. I'm going to snuggle the dog, and should be back Tuesday
I'm reading that too. I know they had a no gays policy at the time, but Vi and Kinetix certainly seem close...
I also love how he's not even an actual grifter. Or at least not anymore, I guess.
Again, pardon the politics, but this dude stopped being a parody of evil capitalists about 7~ years ago. If anything, this is downplaying it.
Thanks OP
Have a happy Independence Day and thanks
Oh great. Libertarian spies.
Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.
>I'm going to snuggle the dog
Whoever thought it was a good idea to let a country full of gun obsessed wingnuts own recreational explosives needs to be slapped into oblivion. Fuck fireworks.
See ya later Storyteller.
The manager who hired me on at the shitty dollar store quit her job yesterday so the store is even more chaotic than it was before she left. It's honestly pretty comedic at this point. It helps that I'm only wagecucking for funsies and not to make a living so the job means literally fucking nothing to me.
The nice thing is that the fairly free availability of time travel in the DCU makes crossovers not impossible.
Joe Casey did know that his technical boss for this book owned the WCW, right?
Are they still supposed to be teens? He draws them like they're in their mid-20s.
Again, the sheer redundancy of such a group is baffling.
True, like with Final Night.
Been meaning to suggest we read some of what Bendis has been talking about, Grell and those first few Levitz/Giffen years
You gotta hope his middle name is like Harold or something.
Kek, took me a second.
Thanks for running, OP.
That was a fucking weird issue to follow up Super Serious Funeral Times with.
Ethan and Lynch had a LONG talk about not telling Kat about the pilot Lynch threw into the ocean.
>David Golaith
>Nelson Full Nelson
>HANDLEBAR CARSON!
I fucking love Pro Wrestling.
>Grunge hitting on all the future honeys
>Rainmaker giving him shit for it, while surreptitiously ogling them
>Freefall and Dream Girl, shopping
>And Fairchild getting into a catfight with whichever blonde that's into Brainy over his attentions
>fuck Burnout
I'd read it.
>Making the world safe for free enterprise and social darwinism
Where's my six gun?
