I think what we need more than actual character development is rather development of interaction between characters. Most of the time any character is onscreen its either doing his own thing or interacting with Marinette. There are some relationships(not implying only sexual ones) that would be interesting if explored right, like:

>Alix with future Alix
>Kwamis in general
>Luka and Jagged
>Alya and Nadia

Seconded. Even just the little fencing match between Hawkmoth and Chat Noir in Hero's Day was packed with ten times the tension of Hawkmoth's fight with anyone else. He has so much more reason to be invested in the main story than Marinette does. It's absolutely criminal that he gets so little screen time in the show compared to her.

Yes. What does Marinette have? A big house, lovely parents, lots of friends, some of them even hold a crush on her. She's beautiful, intelligent, lots of hobbies, lots of talents.flaws? She's nervous sometimes. Fucking ridiculous, how could you expect to develop a personality out of her? Unless they don't play the paranoid-double persona-insecurity card she'll remain a cardboard character without anything relatable or sympathetic

Focusing a bit more on Adrien and his struggles might help the writers shake up the formula a little rather than recycling the 'Marinette really wants to tell Adrien that she likes him but is too nervous' plot for the 12th time.

Another thing that baffles me is that they constantly show Marinette being overwhelmed by trying to balance her superhero and civilian life, but Adrien's schedule is an absolute nightmare compared to hers and we rarely if ever see him struggle with his. How the hell does he do it?

Also while marinette considers her role as a supe as little more than a chore, he thinks the contrary. It makes him show another repressed part of himself, it does male him feel free. That's also why he is always shown as a playful doofus who can't focus on the battlefield and ends up being a punching bag. What really upsets me is his alleged intelligence. its really weird how Chloe is the only character of this show that gets real development. She had at least two episodes and a whole 3-episode-arc that showed direct progress in her development where all the other characters barely changed in 3 seasons. Wtf is with that?

They haven't even gotten to episode 22 yet in french let alone the finale. It was the english choe and they're only around episode 16.

Writers started to realise the growing boredom in the fandom and got scared, so they looked for a questionable character to turn good and mask it as "development". Chloe was always depicted as a stupid bitch, with no redeemable qualities whatsoever, and all of the sudden she has a personality. That's not how to handle a writing, come to think of it it's pretty lame and unprofessional

Well, Chloe's character actually evolves. Season 2 had her learning she can be a good person with some incentive. Season 3 is testing and deconstructing this into what is her last (I hope) change.

Marinette changed too, if only because she's the protagonist, but her flaws are always more evident and her fall. And Adrien simply haven't character, except when he's Chat.

She's not the main character so her development is more open and by being an asshole it allows her very easy "chloe learns not to be as cunt-ish" style episodes. Of course "chloe becomes a better person in general and specifically to sabrina" is her end of series development so it rivals shit like the romance plots of going in circles until the show ends.

At least unlike sissi (code lyoko) and mandy (totally spies) this french show's memory wipe mechanic only affects the akuma. Not only is there some DNA between these shows but chloe and sabrina are named after 2/3rds of the totally spies (alix was gonna be their third).

I don't mind the idea of Chloe slowly becoming a heroine motivated by a mix of good and bad reasons. Heck I'm hoping she develops an addiction to combat that sometimes makes her too aggressive in Akuma situations.
