Direct income and sales taxes were unlikely, due to the shaky, often obfuscated nature of Playground Economics with no direct currency. When we do get to see a direct currency with the Monstickers, King Bob's monetization plan is to charge for the use of Royal Land and Properties, as can be seen by his retainers controlling Old Rusty and the Tetherball pole. It seems his rule in that economy doesn't spread very far away from the official playground structures, as decidedly non-royal factions have clear stakes. Randall has rights to the dodgeballs through connections with a foreign entity (The School), while some randos claimed squat rights to a simple patch of grass, away from the Blacktop. And after TJ's ascent to Oligarch, King Bob's power is clearly flushed away, as his retainers now seem to work for TJ. We also learn that TJ has claimed an overwhelming 80% control over Monstickers, which would be impossible under literally any taxation plan. So, from that, we can see that King Bob's power comes almost exclusively from control of Royal Property, and he has no form of monetization when people choose not to, or cannot afford to, use it.
