It sucks that Endgame had a lesser Thanos as the final battle, they killed off the superior Thanos in rage rather than with purpose, then they snapped the Thanos that hadn't bested them or gone through the trials that made him more determined.

Right after Infinity War I knew whatever followed would be underwhelming.
They should have gone down the Dragon Ball Z Trunks route.

Present Thanos had all of his "children" and a huge chunk of his army destroyed during Infinity War, whether by the snap or from the various fights, while the remaining would have probably died out due to a lack of leadership in a Post-Snap hellhole, as we saw with the other planets.

Past Thanos was the only option for a big battle.

If Darkseid was going to paralyze Barbara later anyway, this would make sense.
