Is Sina Grace right? Did Iceman flop because Marvel didn't support him and the comic enough? Should Marvel give him another chance?

No, no and hell no.

No, it flopped because X-Men solo books that aren't wolverine related don't sell well, especially books where core fans are alienated by the large change to the character

I just didn’t care about X-Men to buy anything that had one of them

Most X-Men solo books that aren't Wolverine or Cable last a year at most. Gambit, Mystique, Magneto and Emma managed to last around 2 years, Gambit had a few more solo books, but none lasted more than a year. Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Storm, Rogue, Jubilee, Maverick, and Domino all lasted a year or less. Iceman and Nightcrawler got a second chance at a solo book, if Marvel were to give Bobby a third chance, trying it with a different writer and artist would make more sense than trying the exact same take on the character that already failed twice.

I mean, he's got a point.
Captain Marvel pulls cancellation numbers constantly and they kept giving it a pass.

Comics don't sell because the story is shit and even if we joke that comic fans are fags the truth is no real fags read comics

If he tried to undo that which Bendis did than maybe the comic would done better

characters who start as team characters rarely last
the x-men don't really work on their own because their supporting cast are other x-men

its not like Iceman has a lot of friends who aren't other mutants, or an intriguing past like Wolverine

and where could an Iceman story even go for anything more than a chapter? without meeting with other X-men

if he's always interacting with X-Men it might aswell just be an X-Men book

With different writers

No it wouldn't. Probably do worse. Bobbyfags are delusional.

>Least compelling of the original X-Men
>Only story hook is that he's gay now
>They gave it a fucking relaunch
Fuck this guy

I realize that editorial is nothing but incompetent frauds, especially the X-Offices, but he wrote a crap comic about a lame character doing nothing interesting.

This

That's mainly because they wanted something to be out before the movie is out.

Iceman was something they half-heartedly supported partly because Fox wasn't bought out by Disney yet.

Didn't KSD get two tries?

You kidding?
Marvel gave this book a ton of support and ads.

In comparison, Hulk got little to no support at first AND LOOK WHERE WE ARE NOW!

Sure thing, Bendis

a gambit book could sell if he could actually do something that would be significant for the character instead of staying in the character development limbo he's been in since he was first introduced

>Marvel didn't support him
Didn't they give him two shots at an Iceman ongoing and overship his #1 issue at least once. That's more than a fair shot, they tried to rig the game and he still lost

Its cause they gayed him up. You aren't gonna replace all the fans he dropped with new fags.

how do you figure it would do worse?

>Did Iceman flop because Marvel didn't support him and the comic enough?

I mean, Iceman sucked, but this is also true from Marvel. They've let many books die fast.

A popular character from a team book usually has some good solo stories in them, especially if it develops them in a way the main book doesn't have the space to do, but if they don't have a life outside of the team, they will struggle to sustain an ongoing book.

This user is right that Gambit has the best chance of working, because he has a life outside of the X-Men.

There's "cancellation numbers" and then there's selling less than 1000 issues as soon as #2 comes out. Carol sells like shit but his Iceman sold way, way worse.

No, Iceman flopped because it was a badly written book about Iceman's lust for cock, staring Iceman the least liked member of the original five, just behind Angel.

How would it do worse? It would be controversial, but Bobby being gay was the worst part of his solo because it ate up the whole of his character.

Sienna Grace should stick to gobbling cocks.

Sina Grace was literally given every chance to succeed, failed twice and still had the unmitigated gall to pretend that Marvel never supported him.

Iceman didn't get much support because it wasn't very good. People didn't read it because it wasn't very good. It was cancelled because it wasn't. very. good.

>if Marvel were to give Bobby a third chance, trying it with a different writer and artist would make more sense than trying the exact same take on the character that already failed twice.

If they do it's because he's gay and they need to realize gay people aren't a demographic that translates marketing into sales.

Didn't it get two series despite the first one being canceled? I call that plenty of support

>fags

Don't use this word again, I'm warning you.

Better a Bobbyfag than a fag Bobby.

Kek fag

Iceman flopped because its a book about Iceman

You know what the real problem at marvel is, they forgot who their audience is.
No scratch that, writers like these refuse to recognize the core audience. Thats why going too political can work against you and going with what is popular in hollywood isnt as popular to the rest of the country.

Maybe make him straight again would help

The core audience is X-fags, who seem to be some kind of entitled, yet abused wife relationship with the X-books.

Hollywood is the problem here. Trying to cater to Hollywood at the expense of the entire medium.

Yeah him and shatterstar beed to become straight again

Iceman flopped because holy shit did you READ that garbage?

I didn't, because I don't give a shit about Iceman either way, but let me guess, it was lacking in supporting cast and villains?

OK homo
