Kamala, like Miles, works as a concept, but most of her stories have been kind of dull. What both of them really need is good writers. Miles got his spotlight in Spider-Verse. Really makes you appreciate how creatively bankrupt cape comics are.

The trick is not to read Marvel or DC, aka stop lowering your standards to the point you give eating shit from a dog parking a glowing 5 star restaurant review.

Miles had potential but was shoehorned in as minority Spider-Man. I think they should just give him a new spider name and have his powers be his enhanced strength venom blast and invis. Take away spidey sense so as to differentiate Pete from him.
