Why is Moana the only 3D princess movie not getting other related media? At least give us a Tamatoa spin-off!

It failed to pull in the money they wanted. Also Disney went with the "cultural sensitive sorta" angle so they can't wring out more of the setting. If they hadn't brought in that Oceanic Group to give the idea of paying respect to the island cultures and instead just made it about exploration then they could probably do something more with the property.
It's getting a Enchanted Tiki Room makeover so
probably because it hasn't been out that long
give it a couple of years, I can totally see a flash-animated series with new voice actors on the disney streaming service
I can see two different ways you take it too. one being Moana's adventures through the seas and the other being Maoi's past adventures (that one can have him teaming up with Tamatoa)
Tangled got a show like 10 years after it’s movie came out.
Frozen had less time time, but it made billions in merchandise.
Moana did well, but not so well that there’s something that they immediately want to do. They don’t even have her meet daily in WDW, anymore, despite guests wanting to meet her.
A cartoon of her and people traveling to weird islands, and Maui occasionally dragging her along to more mystical adventures would be fun.
What I really want are Tiana cooking lesson shorts?
>What I really want are Tiana cooking lesson shorts?
With Remmy from "Ratatouille" co-staring.
Moana is a LOT more work and required ten times more effort to produce anything. The insane drive to make everything 100% culturally accurate in every way down to the little details on the costumes and everything needing the stamped approval of the largish Polynesian culture committee they gathered together makes every decision take so much longer to make. Plus it means they cannot just "wing it" with quick meaningless decisions like random episodes for a tv series. It also makes a lot of extra people that get writing credits so it becomes a huge expense for a theatrical short.
So everything is slow to do, slow to gain approval, and the people behind it have virtually no creative freedom at all. Which makes the production a nightmare for everyone involved.
>takes time
Pretty much this, like with Tangled it took like two years for work to even begin on it
I'm similarly disapointed about Zootropolis
it deserves at least a short, considering they had to cut out so much from the movie, all the models and locations are ready to ripe.
It's getting a sequel.
reliable source please
Half confirmed? Dunno if word of actor's mouth is valid:
you'd suck as a light source.
>Tiana cooking lesson shorts
That'd be pretty cute.
>how to make gumbo:
>just throw anything you have at hand into the pot with boiling water
You're Italian.
too low.
You called it zootropolis, ofc you are.
too low on the map.
>Net weight 16.7 ounces
Judy only has herself to blame for not noticing it weighed one tenth of what it was supposed to.
Made $643m which wasn't amazing post-Frozen.
Didn't make anywhere near the merchandise sales of the other Disney animation films and generally doesn't have the Disney Princess magic shit (would you rather your daughter dress as Moana or Rapunzel?)
Wish this was still getting made but it's almost certainly dead forever.
Disney want to have a proper Hispanic Princess, that's almost certainly what's going to happen.
Rumor has been confirmed fake and gay
I can remember when everyone whined about Tangled being ignored. Be patient. Moana is actually very well-known even if it didn't make Frozen dosh.
Better off than poor Tiana, anyway.
WHY WOULDN'T IT GET A SEQUEL YOU DUMB SHIT? IT'S ONE OF THE BIGGEST BOX OFFICE HITS
There have only been 4 films post-Frozen, it did better but comparative numbers to Big Hero 6 and Ralph Breaks the Internet (itself a sequel to a much lower performing film), with Zootopia being the only one to approach Frozen numbers (which itself brings up questions as to why so little merch or attention has been paid to Zootopia).
And your daughter is going to dress as whichever Disney princess she likes, the only issue is that I won't have to deal with some assholes on the internet throwing a fit if my daughter is wearing a Rapunzel costume.
If Disney was smart, they would’ve done this a long ass time ago, but they’re retarded, so of course they don’t do this. Fuck.
Moana didn’t make as much money as Frozen and Tangled isn’t based on a people who’re very protective of their culture. They had to hire experts for Moana’s backstory and world. They can do whatever with Tangled, but they can’t just throw whatever with Moana. Also, Moana’s a brown non-white main character: she doesn’t appeal to Americans in the same way Anna, Elsa or Rapunzel do. It’s also a lot harder to market Moana merchandise; remember Disney nearly selling Maui’s fucking skin and tattoos as an inflatable costume? Most people didn’t like that. Imagine the outrage over Disney selling similar shit about Polynesian culture? You can say I’m exaggerating, but from a business stand point, Moana isn’t as safely profitable as Frozen or Tangled, even if Moana’s a better movie than either of them.
They only confirmed the Tiki room isn't going away. They didn't deconfirm a Moana reskinning like Under New Management was. Their wording suggests it is getting revamped
I swear sjws are so backwards
>I don't want to appropriate their culture
>So I won't do anything with it
They're hacking representation because of muh culture, like it's counter intuitive.
(but i just want more moana porn)
