How the fuck was this so good?

Oh great another spiderman thread
Yay...
NO ONE CARES ABOUT YOUR KIDDIE SHIT
user, no! You're not allowed to like MCU Spider-Man. If you do you're automatically a SHILL! NO EXCEPTIONS! Apologize to Yea Forums right now before they dogpile you!!
I didn't care for Zendaya's MJ in Homecoming, but she was cute in this movie, and the line about how her snarky wokeness was covering up social awkwardness did a lot.
I like how this was a teen comedy first and a superhero movie second, even moreso than Homecoming.
Mysterio was a great villain.
I thought the ending was a bit flat, but now I'm convinced Mysterio faked his own death and still controls Edith and he's going to return in 3 and if that's true I super dig it.
The second post credit scene with the Skrulls was dumb and pointless. I was led to believe the post-credits scene would be Miles but instead it was nothing.
>it was nothing.
It was S. W. O. R. D
tobey = original trilogy
andrew = prequel trilogy
tom = nuwars
Mr. Harrington casually mumbling about how he thought his wife got snapped but she actually just left him for another dude might be my favorite joke in the entire MCU
you cared enough to select a relatable image and bump the thread.
Prove youre not a shill and drop spoilers.
I absolutely loved it.
I liked what they did with Mysterio.
I liked the jokes.
I liked the post credit.
I like what they set up.
Are we setting up Superior spider-man?
Petter is shown to be smart.
Successor to Tony.
Revealed.
He's going to be a tech company CEO right?
That's when Otto walks in.
I don't understand why or how people like this movie, and I like most of the MCU movies.
Mysterio is literally a nothing character. He has no sympathetic qualities at all. He just wants to be the next Iron Man, because Tony called his product Barf. His plan makes absolutely no sense.
The movie has zero suspense and acts like him being a villain and not a good guy is an incredible twist. The final fight is won because Mysterio decides not to throw the thousands of drones he has at Spider-Man, and only sends one drone after the people that can expose his plan.
i think what i liked the most was it actually felt like spider-man. in homecoming, a lot of the problems are a result of peter trying to be the next avenger, the next big superhero and getting in way over his head.
in far from home, we see a peter who just wants to be peter parker, but he’s spider-man when he needs to be. this creates that same feeling the raimi films had, like when he gets the necklace for mj but immediately has to fight hydro-man (s/o to that morris bench mention). also, he wasn’t trying to live up to iron man anymore. he felt pressured by the world to be the next tony stark, but he had to realize he was never going to be: he was peter parker, the amazing spider-man. it was the character growth i wanted in homecoming but didn’t get
also, he swung through new york at the end. one thing missing from homecoming was that, and boy was i glad we finally got it
That's the point you fucking tool.
It's a fucking super hero movie.
>he felt pressured by the world
the world barely gave a shit about him
that part when it would be so easy to grab some opera glasses and chill with MJ (who was real cute in this) but he has to leave for his mission and then he has to watch asian chad give him the finger as he goes to fight molten man was a great moment
Anyone else notice Mysterio is wearing completely different clothes in the scene where he dies and the big identity reveal? He dies with the mocap suit on but the video played in the midcredits scene shows him wearing the full suit, you can even see the cape and armor.
Its a super hero movie from a decade ago maybe. Most of the MCU films, at least a majority of the later ones, have done a decent job portraying villains that have some semblance of sympathetic motive. Mysterio feels like an early MCU villain who is just there to be the bad guy.
>Dude it’s SUPPOSED TO BE RETARDED!!! Xdxd
Not that guy but you’re a tool
>Have never read a spider-man comic.
They did a great job for fucking Mysterio. Not like his comic motive is much better.
CGI'd in post?
Nah, seems deliberate to me. That’s a HUGE oversight. I’m pretty sure it’s hinting Mysterio is still alive.
I mean yea.
He's pretending to be a real hero.
They obviously CGI'd the suit on.
Would be dumb as fuck if he stayed in mocap gear.
As in, his production team CGI'd it in before leaking it to the press.
Name one legitimate reason he had to be tied to stark industries besides a lame iron man reference. It was boring enough the first half hour being a tribute to him, make him just a kooky SFX effects guy almost nothing changes
>inB4 durr read a comic
I have, I wish the movies would start to read them as well
That's the point. Killmonger has a shit comic motive. So does Vulture. But they have excellent motives in the movies. So its a bit jarring to go from that to "tony named my tech barf, so I'm gonna be the next tony."
FFH would be a great early MCU movie but it really doesn't cut it as late MCU when we've gotten much better villains.
Are you fucking serious?
The whole movie is about Spidey dealing with the void Tony left, replacing Tony, being BETTER than Tony.
I'm done replying to this troll shit.
Stop the theatrics, summerfriend. Iron Boy sucks.
And notice how both of those motives aren’t directly roped to another hero other than the hero of the movie which puts them at odds. People keep saying vulture had beef with iron man but tony never gave a single fuck about what Adrian was doing, vulture just used damage control as an excuse for being an arms dealer for chitauri tech, he’s the hypocrite he calls the avengers
Mysterio’s entire reason for being evil was over technology that tony named something insulting. It felt like something the Disney ultimates cartoon would do
>actually defending a movie where spider-man has to prove himself as a better superhero than iron man
glad you’re done replying with that shit argument
>because Tony called his product Barf
No, because Tony used his product for therapy and then fired him. Also because he called it BARF.
The biggest psycho was the damn costume designer that was absolutely fine with committing city wide damage and genocide just cause.
It wasn't, shill.
You are not allowed to like MCU Spider-man. MCU Spider-man is shit. SHIIIIITTTT!!!
I think Beck died, but since none of his associates did they'll go on pushing Mysterio as an actual hero to hide their own criminal activities.
look at this faggot
Seen it, still think Spiderverse is the best Spider-Man movie
I loved it
I would accept this movie if sky wasn't the fucking limit at the start. He had a great introduction in Civil War. They dashed all the Spider-Man opportunities for an Iron Man replacement. It's so blatant too. Disney/Marvel clearly considers the audience idiots and I can't support that.
I saw a ride just like this at ayiderdee about a month ago
We really need to get thread specific ID's, and possibly flags
Honest thoughts, I think its a good film. Better than the Amazing movies, but not as good as spider-verse or the Raimi films. But the movie still felt awful to myself as a fan. No uncle Ben, only Tony Stark. Spider-man can hardly keep his mask on and neither Mysterio. And I have only low expectations after the secret identity reveal. But the Mysterio special effect dream sequences were amazing and looked cooler than Dr. Strange's movie.
Finally an actual good opinion in this shithole...
Im so fucking sick of cape movies, they make too many and come out too soon
>my bubble is confirmed.
I don't like MJ. Not because she isn't Mary Jane but because she's just not likable. How do two guys like her so much? She talks like the stereotype of an anime tsundere or a cartoon goth chick. Peter was an authentically written high school aged character but MJ doesn't speak like an actual teenage girl. I wonder if the writers were just not comfortable writing that type of character and stuck too hard on old tropes.
They also gave her such a bizarre wardrobe. That floral dress they put her in was hideous and I can't believe that a teenaged girl would pick something like that, especially one like MJ.
Captain Marvel was better, Peter is her bitch boy.
I have to agree this felt more like an actual Spider-Man movie than Homecoming, hopefully we can move past the Tony wank on the third one.
Tony Stark is truly an asshole and he got away with it until the end.
>the main criticism of the movie is still that MJ is a nigger.
I thought you were over it. Holland and Zendaya are also cute together.
the love triangle dynamic with brad was kind of cringe though
>hopefully we can move past the Tony wank on the third one.
In /co nobody believes that, but to me it seems clear that Mcu's plan is to make a long path of growth where Peter will perhaps become even more heroic than his comic version (that for obvious reasons of Status quo he must always remain an outcast ). In movies, they can afford that.
>I was led to believe the post-credits scene would be Miles but instead it was nothing.
imagine thinking Miles will ever happen in live action
imagine thinking Peter will ever be replaced
It is quite possibly the best movie ever made. Based Disney did it again and I don't know how.
they are just action movies
you could just stop watching
>He has no sympathetic qualities at all
Well to be honest in comics he doesn't have either which is fine. But i did hate how they did have to make him connect to Iron Man for no reason.
Get in the fucking suit Peter
>that have some semblance of sympathetic motive
Why? Why does every villain have to be sympathetic? Can't they just bad for sake of it?
>hopefully we can move past the Tony wank on the third one
They won't because Disney knows he is the most popular character in MCU so they have to wank him even more,
>that mid credit scene
So we're getting OMD next huh
I recall people saying the exact same thing about iron man and Captain Murica
Would have been 10/10 if Zendaya hadn't been in it at all.
That's literally the second guy Tony's driven into supervillain territory just by shitting on their work.
She was the best part. I really like how she triggers incels such as yourself
I actually give a shit about Tom's Spider-Man and felt sad when he died and happy when he came back, so that's already ten steps above DisneyWars.
>Mysterio is literally a nothing character. He has no sympathetic qualities at all. He just wants to be the next Iron Man, because Tony called his product Barf. His plan makes absolutely no sense.
Imagine inventing basically physics-defying hologram technology but (a) Tony Stark gets all the credit, and (b) he calls it barf.
He didn't go into the biz to make money, he wanted to help people and make money in the process. Slightly different motivation. But Tony just uses it exclusively as a personal toy. You never see people use his hologram tech anywhere else in the world, and SHIELD invented their own. So now Tony's dead and he just wants to become a fake hero just to stick it to Tony. How is that not human-like or sympathetic?
All the people there were ex-Stark Industries employees. They made enough money in their lifetime (before getting fired) to basically fund themselves, and probably already have nice jobs elsewhere. And they're pouring it all into "fuck Tony Stark".
>The movie has zero suspense and acts like him being a villain and not a good guy is an incredible twist. The final fight is won because Mysterio decides not to throw the thousands of drones he has at Spider-Man, and only sends one drone after the people that can expose his plan.
You're right about this. Not about Beck's character.
I loved Mysterio and thought he had a lot of charisma. He seemed like an insane movie director starring in his own film. Caring more about the scene than about human life. Also loved that he was being fed lines by his writer to explain the elementals. Also that sequence of illusions in the first Spider-Man vs Mysterio confrontation is one of my fave parts in any MCU movie.
I just wish she had red hair and was called Mary Jane. I don’t understand why they went with this half way compromise of the character instead of just making her the character.
I still prefer the game.
Holy fuck stop fucking shilling so much god damn.
>i think what i liked the most was it actually felt like spider-man
Because Peter Parker going to a high tech lab to make a high tech suit is exactly what I think of when I think spider man.
It's a different medium.
>Are we setting up Superior spider-man?
>He's going to be a tech company CEO right?
>That's when Otto walks in.
I don't want Otto to be introduced just for Superior. I want REAL Otto Octavius.
Maybe we'll get that.
After REAL Peter Parker and REAL MJ.
Can't tell if sarcasm.
Peter Parker was always a genius. So yes, that should generally fit.
He's had a high-tech doc oc suit in the comics for like two decades now. It's not that weird anymore.
It's not Spiderman, though.
Peak Spiderman is Peter Parker making some shit in his garage because he's too broke to be fucking Iron Man.
The problem is that they are oversaturating the market.
MCU posting should be banned post Endgame
I loved it, would have preferred more talk about uncle ben than just the suitcase (even if it was just a throwaway line about Tony not being his first father figure)
Mysterio was great, thinks there's a 50/50 chance he's dead since he's always a tricky fuck
Does anyone have that toy comic where electro draws on mysterios fish bowl?
It’s a better Peter
On the other hand, I hope MCU whining like yours never ceases, I get a strange kind of satisfaction from your pain.
Shit movie.
Aw I'm sorry user but I'm sure if you ask nice enough someone might make a thread for The Kitchen or Joker or whatever the next DC piece of shit that bombs is
>killmonger has an excellent motive in the movie
No. No he does not. He’s a fucking madman who ends up as a palette swap, which puts him on the same level as Yellowjacket
>ITT
I can't wait to see your tears when it makes a billion
And too fucking stubborn to ask Reed for help
