The problem with the pilot plot wise was that Hedgehog completely betrayed Oscars friendship just to hang out with Max and she came off as some boy crazed slut. In the show however Hedgehog has, for the most part, put their friendship in high regard and as long her and Max doesn't impede on Oscar it'll be just fine.

The pilot was rather popular on youtube. With a much better like/dislike ratio than you'd expect.

I really enjoy how nuanced the characters are. Generally, a kid's show will go out of their way to "describe" a character, often resulting in flanderization. If you only take Susie at the surface, you'll see she's a jerk who likes harassing people as a sort of revenge for making her work. However, on a deeper level, you can see just how damaged really is.

The writers are great at having bleak things hidden under a soft and cozy atmosphere.
