Dude that's your own fault for going with artists with shitty schedules or sometimes its outside forces that mess with the artist work. Always background check with other previous commissioners if the artist has a track record of consistently not delivering in a timely fashion and having a billion excuses when it's been over a month. If not just shut up and wait. This is why I always deliver same day or within the week and hardly do commissions because I hate people like you who think we don't have to wage cuck like you too.

Like I said I've gotten burnt and learnet from it. I have nice pool of artist I frequently commission so there's a level of trust between us. That's my advice, find artist you like and develop a relationship.

Artist here. Never pay upfront or at the very least only pay a portion. However there is a caveat: when it comes to paying (even if the thing came out shit and you don't like it) ya gotta pay. Because if you don't I can guarantee that artist is gonna tell everyone they know you don't pay.

But yeah never pay upfront. The reason why artists do that is because they've been burnt before. Fortunately there's enough sharing around on social media that all the spergs that don't pay become commission pariahs.

> Work on the anatomy (proportions are a little off)
> Try adding some more highlights. Also, never use pure white unless the base color is really light to begin with (it's okay for pale skin and blonde hair). In general, just go for a more saturated - but much lighter - shade than the base.
> The shading looks a bit muddy, both in color and shape
> Don't just use a slightly darker color than the base hue - use complimentary shades (a warmer color like purple set to multiply would be good on cyan skin).
> Boost the contrast a bit more.
> Try to make the shaded in areas look more defined. If you use cel-shading, keep it consistent throughout (unless you wanna add some airbrushing/gradients here and there). I can tell from the way you blocked in the shapes that you don't really know what you're doing - but that's okay. Keep working on it. Study other people's work and make note of how they do it.
> It looks like you're going for a comic book style. Try adding some more line weight, even if it's just along the outer edge. You'll notice a dramatic difference.

Thank you, and yeah I don't know how to color. I've only recently started to do it, but I'm not very comfortable with it. I don't have eyes for it yet and a lot of shading is essentially me just throwing a dart on the color wheel.
And as for the line weight, should I just experiment or is there a proper method for deciding where it should be thicker?

When I made the transition from shading with black to complementaries, it was difficult at first. But it's definitely worth it. Eventually you'll start to develop an intuition about what colors to use. For now, just try to stick with what looks right to you (and like I said before, find some art you like and study it).

Pic related is a ref I saved for line weights. There's always more than one way to do it, but in general the depth of the object will determine its thickness (closer = thicker lines).

Personally I just apply it to the whole drawing, leaving the outer edges of head/limbs/major body parts the thickest.

I think your style is pretty good, but the line work is pretty messy. Maybe turn away from the pencil tool or do one last line art layer to make it look nicer. The colors are bright but the drawing doesn't look vibrant enough. Maybe add some darker shading for a heavier contrast.
Also if this is a kinda sorta Batman thread, then I'd like some critique for this piece I just made for the upcoming death battle. I'm a big fan of both characters this time around and plan to use this for Yea Forums x Yea Forums threads

I don't know if this is meant to be seen above eye level or on the eye level. Based on Ed's size in comparison to Aang along with how the environment's drawn, it seems that it's supposed to be the former. If that's the case, their body proportions could need some work by seeing them as shapes being affected by a vanishing point.

Your piece has really good use of color. I think you should add some lines around the skirt near her right leg, it looks like her leg is not attached to anything. The background blocks underneath her don't look polished enough, try to make it more clean and maybe geometric like the other background blocks.

It’s the one in a million who can draw well with no practice. You can’t realize your potential without putting in the hours, regardless of how gifted you may be.

In CSP there's a ruler tool where you can draw with perspective. Not sure about the other drawing programs though.
