These two and the fact that new writers probably thought that SpongeBob was a hit because of his (and Patricks) stupidity
Mr. Krabs race mixing
Which makes me wonder why, when Hillenburg came back, it was still filled with stupidity.
Granted, Greenblatt and other top notch writers never returned.
Greenblatt worked on Harvey Beaks, he can still work on Spongebob
This is wrong if the many people still praising seasons 1-3 is anything to go by.
Kids liked the stupidity (and they were the intended demo)
It makes Nick cancel all of their cartoons after 1-2 seasons if they are not instant hits and doesn't give them time to grow
Clearly the writers misunderstood the point of Squidward getting shit on. They went about it in a completely different way as if the series was supposed to actually be Spongebob and Patrick being jackass retards to him and he was sort of in a CatDog situation, rather than just casual down to earth annoyances. Old Spongebob would have apologized to Squid about getting on his nerves, the new one literally cannot see it.
2007 management.
Fuck off.
A whiny fanbase that shat their pants over mediocre at worst episodes and sent death threats to the people who made them and making other fandoms think this behavior is acceptable.
>blaming stupid e-celebs for the cancer of certain other fandoms
Nothing really went wrong. It’s just never-ending and at this point it’s just back-round noise. Apparently the new episodes are really good and have great animation. I just don’t care enough to invest my time watching SoongeBob anymore.
>Apparently the new episodes are really good and have great animation.
The animation is good but they use it to exaggerate every fucking motion which is obnoxious, the writing is still the same as it has been for years, Sponge and Pat are still young children for example.
I dunno, the frantic use of facial expressions just bug me. It's like every five seconds needs a few face
Why did this make me feel nauseous?
reminder that Nicktoons is hyping this up by airing every episode of the series before this episode's premiere on the 12th
all Nickelodeon is doing for the Blowout is a marathon on the day it premieres
So this is what new spongebob is like huh.
Gotta make room for those live action shows and the LGBTQP+ House: Now Starring Mexicans.
We were all supposed to have died some years ago but reality just kept going.
He's right.
Funny how childish people still like them. It's almost as if, THEY HAVEN'T GROWN THE FUCK UP YET. Holy shit! Even as a kid I couldn't stand this stupid show (it's clearly for Americans).
>Brought to you by the same country that blows their own leg off with a homemade bomb just for fun
Continuing after the perfect movie ending
>Calarts shit
It was born wrong.
By that logic I shouldn’t be able to enjoy the early seasons anymore then? I still think seasons 1-3 are highly watchable and memorable though. Even as a kid I could tell something was off when season 4 started.
>using a brief gag from when spongebob was good as a central plot point
nu-spongebob is just trying to appeal to nostalgiafags but it feels so forced it's still bad
Because when every facial expression is crazy, then none of them are. When they used them less, they had more comedic value.
>Even as a kid I could tell something was off when season 4 started.
Fear of a Krabby Patty felt different compared to anything before and after it. I think it's closest equivalent is Dunces and Dragons.
>Even as a kid I could tell something was off when season 4 started.
same here, I knew it wasn't just nostalgia. I remember tolerating the later seasons, and stuff like karate island, the wishing well, krusty towers, were all still funny, but something felt different.
They've referenced old SB a bunch of times in the newer seasons, seemingly going back on their word that after the first movie it's sort of their own take on the series (saving face for quality) just to get some nostalgia points. They've referenced Rock Bottom like twice now, one in Out of The Picture (which I think had other references like the Sea Bear) and now this special, the creatures are seen in a promo at the party even though that makes no sense (except if it were just the you're welcome guy but even then), it's all just a fucking pandering mess that's embarrassing. They even tossed in the first movie meme face reactions in one of the episodes.
Yea notably Sponge's voice and the pace not being as calm.
>doing nothing on YouTube
>SpongeBob Big Birthday Blowout sneak peek
>SpongeBob doing stupid and weird faces like usual
>The fish driving does weird movements like if he is from another show
>Literally bread winners style
>Almost end
>Dude beans LMAO
Wtf happened to SpongeBob? I keep seeing everyone saying "it's good again" but it's not true, the only noticeable thing is the change of animation and characters doing stupid faces every minute, sure is entertaining sometimes but not great,do people have shit taste or they are conformist?
The animation getting more expressive and Stephen coming back tricked people into thinking the series was fun again. Stephen didn't fix the primary issue I've had with the series for over a decade which was making Spongebob and Patrick too childish and things not being a calm pace anymore. God rest his soul but I don't see any difference between when he had stepped down and when he came back except the animation upgrade but that seems to have been planned beforehand. It's hard to tell.
Some of the episodes are alright and have interesting ideas, but the execution is pretty weak or just genuinely obnoxious most of the time. I'm not upset about it, just disappointed. They seem to want a Rocko tier wackiness now which seemed most apparent in the episode where Spongebob had worms party inside him. It's just not that charming or funny when it's done in SB because that's all it is, the most wacky and goofy stuff from Rocko mixed with the main characters acting like they're 10 at the oldest.
I know at this point muted colors is wishful thinking but I'd like the other two things, a middle ground between adult and child Spongebob, and calmer atmosphere. They have no reason to do these things though because the series has been doing fine on name recognition alone, so they can do whatever they want. I just won't be like the others saying this third era of SB is great and good again. It's alright, and only sometimes. This new special shows they learned nothing from stuff like Truth or Square.
