Their stories are similar. Both MCU Spidey films more closely resemble the structure of the Iron Man films than any Spidey story out there.

Peter's a globetrotting tech hero that deals with massive city leveling disasters with a wacky cast of friends for him to bounce jokes off of, not a near resource-less street level hero who has to balance all the lies he tells to the various people in his social circle while trying to stop bank robbers.

This is hyper simplification, it can be done for almost any marvel movie since they have almost the same structure. And it has always been the weak point, more or less obvious, of the MCU films, very much high budget tv show with few among them to have their own unique personality.

Despite this, Homecoming and the three Iron-man talk about completely different things.

None of these movies talk about anything, which is entirely my fucking point. They're just action comedies. Spider-man has always traditionally filled its pages with a lot of character drama and lower stakes action. Peter juggling responsibilities in both his lives was the hook of the book.

New spider-man does not have that hook.
