>tfw most of your favorite comics are being dumped because they don't have cute girls for waifu material, which is the only thing people seem to care about theses days
Why can't you see anything beyond that? Why do people think with their dicks?

People are biologically programmed to think with their dicks. It's in our nature.
In most societies in the past, thinking with your dick was less prominent, because openly doing that was frowned upon, as well as openly trying to lead people by their dicks.
However, under capitalism, there is a huge incentive to control people based on their most basic instincts, and so it becomes normalized. A few decades ago, businessmen trying to exploit the youth would have to rely on "coolness value" to sell toys and comics. Now they can use tits.

Whoever "reads" comics for the 'waifus' and potential wank material is a retard, simply put.

>People are biologically programmed to think with their dicks.
Even the women?

Especially the women

get off Yea Forums

>I am fapping to a character from who I barely know anything about her besides her tits and you're wrong to think that there's just more than that
Dilate

Well what are we meant to read them for?

The story and the art?
Anyway you can read them for whatever you want, but it's really dumb to latch onto a series just because it has a cute girl or the women have sexy asses/tits because the moment it stops being so, you'll hate it for the wrong reasons.

Thing is, the one thing that separates us from animals, is that we can think beyond our basic instinct. If we didn't, many geniuses of our time or previous eras would have been ignored and spitted on, because people would have focus on the seeking of perpetual intercourse. Now we live in a society that gives us what we need, when we need it, there is no point in watching that other Anime show with cute girls for the sake of masturbating to them, when you could read stories which have a deeper meaning and a more serious tone, and thus, take something out of it, a morale, a lesson, a feel, not just some droplets of sperm.

Women don't think

What is a woman without a dick, really?

>Now we live in a society that gives us what we need, when we need it,
Incels would disagree.
I'm not even being fecetious here - we, as humans, need both sexual and emotional fullfillment, and that's something that society doesn't really give us freely (not that it should). Most people who watch crappy waifu anime aren't sexual raptors, they are losers greatly lacking in romantic satisfaction.
And, just because they do does not mean they don't ever engage with other forms of media. I have a good friend who watches ecchi loli anime all day while coding genuinely impressive neural network software.

They just need to have sex, simple as

you offering?

Where do you get the idea that waifus are only about sex?

Maybe, but they are just exceptions within other exceptions. Look upon Yea Forums and their Xenoblade threads, hell, even RE threads. They are filled with waifu content, there's not a single time when they talk about the gameplay or anything, because they don't care, their only attachment to the games are the appearance of the characters, not what they're supposed to do or be.
And on Yea Forums, it's pretty much the same thing, to some extent. Most characters Yea Forums has a crush on are discussed in threads dedicated to the praise of their body and nothing else. I see a lot of praise for Panda for example, but I don't see people talking about her as a character.
Truly, I hate looking like I'm somekind of a feminist. But in reality, I don't mind people having waifus, what I don't support is the fact that people may base their opinion on the amount of sexy characters in a medium, and that at the second thoses characters are no more, the medium becomes lifeless to their eyes, while there could have been so much more.
The Horror fan community does this from time to time, recently, the appareance of a Nurse themed character has been revealed to the public, and most fans went berserk about it because said character was a fat old nurse with an eerie smile, not just some cute girl who wants to kill you. This sort of situation makes me tired of people. Tired of all this praise for sex.

Every fucking person ever who has complained about muh SJWs ruining comics by coving up character and making the women ugly are exactly who you are talking about. Don't pretend it doesn't happen constantly.

Especially when said user clearly doesn’t know what the character looked like before the 90s redesign

I really fucking hate it when some jackass tries to hijack my post with an nonsequitor reply just to be smugly butthurt about something else.

Well well well. What have we here?
A boogeyman, oh, I'm really scared!

I'm well aware, just didn't want to go there because you know damn well it attracts the outrage peddlers...
Goddamn it.

I don't think you understand what that expression means, and your absolutely cringe way of presenting it confirms you're medically autistic anyways.

When a lot of games and shows are the same, then this is a method of distinction. Also, it shows respect for us men and defiance of feminism and some conservative ideologies.

You're going about it wrong. Don't try to be sly and sneak one past the shitposters, say what you mean openly and confidently. That when when the shitposters come they're easy to identify and ignore.

>I change what I like and what I do just to spite people I dont like
How long has it been since you've let them win? I mean, since they have control of your thoughts and actions.

>conservatism
>allegedly portraying women as sluts
Now that's just stupid.

I blame it on Yea Forums culture in large part. It's just how things are done here - we all memetically descend from horny anime fans, talking about waifus is just the default practice here. Unirocically, if you go to Reddit, or some internet forums, you will find a lot of people discussing the actual merit of media.
But here, cute girls are the tools of the trade AND the currency. And since waifufagging is not a bannable offense, it flourishes, as it's also much easier to attract attention of others with tits.
I don't deny that I got into some of my favorite series of all time (that I all enjoy in non-sexual ways) because of cheesecake or straight-up porn I saw.

You can blame the death of your favorite comics on not-pandering-to-dicks, but that's just one of the reasons, most visible to you because you browse Yea Forums. I'm sure other communities would rationalize it differently.

>calls on SJWs in 2018+1
>Pretends that female in comics are not completely ugly, even though there are dozens of waifu threads about modern supers
>calls everybody else an autist

You said it all. But what can we do?
It's kind of like Yea Forums pretending to be a connoisseur in cinema and the art of filming, even though the only thing they do is doing threads about Christina Hendricks, comparing box office numbers and Sneed threads. They do analyze movies, they don't know any other director other than the most popular ones in Hollywood and then they talk about "having standards". What can you do about it? It's part of their culture.
We just look upon a serie, full of girls that we like for their anatomy because of our abysmal people skill (of which I am the first to possess), and in the process, we abandon ourselves to such a craze. I could be reading some philosophers, change the world and truly have an impact on the environment all around me, but I don't. I'm pathetic, we're all pathetic.
Some (((powers that be))) will continue to make money out of our frustration, because it works. Same thing, part of our culture. A freak club.
People say "have sex". God I wish I did. So I can finally remove this idea from my head and move on to bigger things.

In no way is any of this related to anything you said.

>People say "have sex". God I wish I did. So I can finally remove this idea from my head and move on to bigger things.

You don't actually need to get laid to get your mind off it. Just get a new focus. Set yourself a goal, a target, something to focus yourself on. In my case it has been my education, working to graduate and then find a job has been quite helpful in moving forward. Heck, right now I'm doing fuckall, posting on Yea Forums again. But I know tomorrow I'm setting my alarm and I'll do some proper fucking work on my portfolio and sending out some resumes.

Just get your shit together. Don't make sex a goal in and of itself. Focus on where you're going, not where you are.

If it makes you feel any better
> God I wish I did. So I can finally remove this idea from my head and move on to bigger things.
nah, you probably wouldn't. Even people who have sex regularly are still obsessed with it and devote a lot of time and effort into making their sex more interesting. You have party chads who literally devote all of their energy into figuring out how to score more chicks, and you have fully functional married adults who develop freaky fetishes and spend small fortunes on weird toys or going to other states for orgies.
Having sex once or twice in a while doesn't mean you get satiated for good. You just need to find proper balance.

Perhaps I should make my objective more clear. I never experienced love or affection. My parents did everything for me and I left them when I could, I didn't want to bother them. I never had friends, never anybody talk to, or just anything remotely reassembling to a social interaction. Because of my abysmal people skills. I don't usually fap to porn or play VN or anything. Hell, I don't even want to have sex. I just want somebody to talk to. I've been living alone for 8 years already.

The trick is to put yourself out there. Like I said, education's done great things for me. the education itself was a crapshoot, but it put me in touch with a lot of people with similar mindsets to me. And now I have a set of very good friends with very similar interests who I can communicate with quite well.

Before that I joined a martial arts club. Now I'm looking into model building and gunpla. Before that I was a social recluse, didn't have any friends except a person or two I met online. I read about body language, went through Dale Carnegie's how to make friends and influence people, sort of had to learn how to be more normal.

I know that very often advice like this sounds generic or "I've tried that already and it didn't pay off" but it does help. Get you something to focus on, something that gets you out there, that gets you in contact with other people, with new people.

>I just want somebody to talk to. I've been living alone for 8 years already.
Would an online friend be enough?
Or do you long for physical affection first and foremost?

nah they think with feels

Where do you live user? In an unlikely chance we live near each other I could be your friend

......is it ironic for me to complain about folks only judging books on sexy/cute girls but draw cute/sexy girls on their downtime?

cuz i feel like a massive hypocrite and i wanna say sorry Yea Forums

i may not agree politically with y'all but we can all agree on good titty.

It's all good, nobody's saying sexy/cute girls are bad.

Well, those who do say that can fuck off. No reason we can't have sexy/cute girls AND substance.

I guess an online friend is enough, if at least I can somebody to rely on. I don't even need to know how he looks like, I just need a person.
Macron's Migrant Hotel Land, little to no chance that you live here, but thanks anyway.
Thanks user, I already try to find a club in here or something, but none of them sound interesting to me. It's not that it wouldn't work, its just that none of them proposes something remotely interesting enough to me.

Shipping and obsessive waifu culture have existed since forever. Now we've just moved on from the phase where you need to pretend you like "cool and edgy stuff" to prove your masculinity/intelligence. As for media with artistic merits, that was never meant to sell like hot cakes anyway because it's not for consumers. Talking about art can be difficult and you usually need to have lot of background information, and it's essential to enjoy artistic merits. Talking about shit that makes your dick happy doesn't require this.

Look at this documentary for example. It's about obsessive Sailor Moon fans in the 90s.
youtu.be/PhwVcIR1aQs?t=502

don't get me wrong, i wanna see more interesting female designs but it doesn't hurt to draw a cute thing once in awhile..even if am not super into cute shit half the time.

I don't personally think that drawing sexy girls is bad. It's rather how readers may only see them as sex objects. Take Raven for example, half of the time she's being discussed here, it's about her ass or her tits. But there is not discussion about her character, her morale, her inner demons. She's literally the daughter of a demon that keeps trying on making her like him, while she just wants to be something else and put herself away from the morale that her father as always taught her, while keeping a bit from her origins; her knowledge on dark magic. Well I'm not really into her, but at least I could be able to say more things about her as a person.
The other point is, that thoses very same readers may also pick up some pieces of medium only by judging them by the girls being portrayed. Manyuu Hikenchou is hot trash for example. It doesn't even make sense, the characters are lame and have little to no personality besides "classic Shonen characters but feminized with an ounce of Isekai 'easy to anger girl' persona". The only thing that made it successful were the Breast Expansion scenes. Same can be said for Fairy Tail and Makken ki. Now I know for a fact that theses aren't really good examples, because theses are Ecchi Mangas and thus supposed to be somehow erotic, but considering that the vast majority of it is literally trash, it truly says a lot about the people buying them.
Say what you want about comics like Watchmen or Promethea, but there's literally more to them than any other "Ecchi-ish" comic out there. It's kind of like picking 50 shades of Gray over Discworld because there's more erotic stuff inside.

Good I really have to work on my examples.

I can guarantee you that Watchmen is more popular than some soft porn anime, those aren't that popular even among otaku.

The reason why we don't talk about it anymore is because it's been talked to death. You can take a look any airing cartoon threads that have had lot of speculation and not just waifufaggotry. The downside of speculation is that often people come up with too high hopes for a series, but it ends up in very lame fashion. I've stopped having too high hopes because everytime I come up with some great theory and get hyped up, I'm just going to be disappointed.

I took Watchmen as an example, but there are more "Story driven" comics out there that deserves to be talked about. Have you heard of De Cape et se Crocs? The Case? Bloodshot? DoggyBags collection comics? Concrete?
Thoses comics deserved to be talked about, but due to the popularity of waifu-culture and their lack of "waifu material", nobody ever talks about them. The most popular cartoon shows out there are only about cute girls doing cute girl things and nothing else. I could start a thread talking about the comics I mentioned earlier and I would get 0 replies, because they lack the tits.

Comics in general aren't very popular in USA. Marvel would probably be dead by now if MCU didn't exist. Basically video games replaced the comic book obsession, and when I used to go to my high school's literature club and talked about comics none of those people (mostly normies/literature nerds) haven't heard any of them, not even something I considered entry level like MAUS.

Not even MAUS? A lot of libraries put it in the spotlight because of the Holocaust memorial days out there.
But either way, comics or not, the problem is common to any medium, video games, movies, anime, literature... Everything
